We finally did it! This is our very first winter camping trip and we absolutely loved every second of it. You'll have to forgive us as we are still getting in the groove of filming everything and editing. This is a free camp site by Carbon River in Washington. Takes about one hour and 45 minutes from Seattle.
We wanted to test out our BMW and equipment and we learned a lot. We have since upgraded our camping lights, got more camera equipment and finally got our lift installed. We love snow camping so this was a blast. The Nitto tires did excellent.

Subbed , I've always loved camping but it slipped away after a few life things. Now I'm thinking of going it alone again and doing the Trans American Trail from East coast to Oregon. It's just a fantasy right now but , getting closers to getting my new 2017 Rubicon Hard Rock. The wilderness is life changing !!

where did you get that roof rack, and who makes it? what size tires are you running on your X5? and did you have to make any modifications for them? great video by the way.

Hi mate is the x5 acctually any good off road. Because this could just be a uk thing but over here they all come slammed of camber wheels skinny tires and a 5.0 twin turbo diesel tuned for sport and torque

The X5 is actually very capable off road. It really shines in the sand!

It takes a lot of research to find anything for the X5...that goes extra for off road parts. You just have to be willing to do a little digging and adapt things to fit.

@@ctrl-alt-awesome5189 the UK stock X5 is brilliant on tarmac and off-road in all terrains. It is also great for sleeping in year-round.

I dont get the tent on top of a car thing! Looks like a normal tent would take far less time to set up.

+Mac Macmac It mostly has to do with staying a little bit cleaner and dryer. If you don't camp in possible wet or muddy areas then they are probably a waste of money. The time thing is nice but a decent one starts at 1500. So unless you camp a ton, not really worth it. I am getting one so that I can use it on road trips. Its sort of strange to setup your tent in the walmart parking lot, but to unfold a tent is not for some strange reason.

Mud...and snow. We have since moved away from using our rooftop tent so much in the summer as we love to hammock camp. It helps to lull you into a sense of security as well. You just feel safer being 7 feet off the ground.

Haha, they are pretty great. We moved away from them but they sell them in a lot of offroad shops and outdoor shops. There are plenty online however =)
