Great looking traditional and effective system! You can live out in that all winter! Good emphasis on total breathability and staying dry.

Excellent. I'm after the anorak kit at some point. Never know when New England will go back to old time normal. One can pray. :) Thank you for sharing it all!

Thank you very much for posting all this info, especially the reasons why for each layer and the types of materials. I'm doing some research for a story I'm writing, and this really helps.

A nice informative video. Everything's covered (pun intended). I especially like the moccasins. Gonna have to get some of those, especially for my wife who is prone to cold toes (Raynaud's Syndrome). They'd be perfect for our winter treks and igloo camping. Thanks, Martin

With this method of layers and proper materials I'll bet you're good for -50. I have assembled complete 1982 pattern Canadian military extreme cold gear, but The one thing I feel that is missing are a nice pair of wool pants. Make sure to remove layers as needed if doing work that causes you to sweat. Also I learned in the military that those felt liners that may absorb, moisture can be hung out over night in you're tent, and the frost can be knocked off before use in the morning.

+james koett Hi James, thanks for the comment. We haven't seen -50, but we've tested them in temps pretty darn close to that (40 - 45 below). Excellent point with the felt liners!

We did have -40 plus wind one year on our winter exercise. I know the Officers kept a check on our noses cheeks, etc. for frost bite. Add a wool balaclava and I think you can probably withstand anything Mother nature can throw at you.

Thanks for the info and doing what you guys do! Really awesome uses of the best fabrics. Wool and Canvas (: Have you guys ever seen a down canvas jacket? I know they are favored for their packability and lightweight as is but a nice outer shell would be AMAZING. I (dom) have put holes and tears in just about everyone of my down jackets but I still cherish them... Can't wait for winter! too many skeetos

Thats a first, a girl with some modesty on RU-vid. Consider this a compliment in a world where women feel they have to show off for views.

The foot wear is very interesting. The layers look like there is little room for movement especially the toes. The leather moccasin bottoms would not work well in wet conditions I take it. But they look beautiful.

Where can I find the wool outer sock you’re using? The wool shoes if you will? Thanks

Great video! I'm really interested in your rubber boots and was wondering who makes em? I tried to visit your "equipment list" page but it didn't work. Thanks in advance.

great video! I have a few questions for you, if I may? 1. The canvas Anoraks are breathable and windproof...can I use some canvas wax to help make them waterproof/resistant? if so, does that diminish the breathability too much? 2. the winter moccasins are awesome...what size should I order if I have a very wide size 8 foot? thanks...

Thanks for the comment - Kielyn made the tube scarf herself. She crochets all sorts of goodies when she has a bit of extra time!

Thank you. Great video. I have a lot of trouble finding anything wool I can afford. I have a couple of wool sweaters but I usually layer up good and then put my insulated coveralls on that I bought for $40. Do you know of any affordable wool clothing options? CURRAHEE!

I live in New Zealand and have done well buying second hand wool clothing. Don't know the possibilities there but may be an option?
