Spare socks! If you're out for a drive then chances are your feet aren't prepared to overnight in subzero temps. Even if they're dry and your core is well-protected you might be surprised how easily frostbite can sneak up on you, and if you get your only pair wet by tramping around in the snow you're in for a world of hurt.

For people intimidated by the process for getting a Ham license, they should look into getting a GMRS license. There are a lot of areas with good coverage and repeaters. Best part - no test. All you have to do is write a check (or put in cc info cause this is 2021)

Staying with the vehicle is the best thing you said. Being lost is the something stay put always have a way to start a fire. I heard about a boy who wondered off got lost and was found hungry and alive. They asked him why he was under a rock. He said I was cold. The 5 year old did everything right.

When you don't have a lot of space to store items in your vehicle make sure the items you do have are multi purpose. If your not sure sit down and make a list of what you think you may need. Then items that will cover more than one need. Wasn't trying to step on any toes just trying to help. God bless and stay safe.

seal things with wax paper or wax bags or reuse cereal bags if you can't get after proof matches seal them with wax. and use those trick candles that relight when you blow them out perfectly when there are high wind situations. Here is another tip, water is the best energy drinks are good but are just sugary drinks when you aren't active or sick, oh I found an energy drink the roman army used posca a wine vinegar-based drink I think I found mine I'm going to make it I have to use some cheesecloth to strain some seeds after boiling some look it up. to find out more folks

I was stranded one time and tried to make a fire with a road flare. It's surprisingly difficult because it burns so hot so fast that wood still doesn't light on fire easy. Especially if it's wet. I'm not a fan of carrying a truck load of gear 24/7 because I also want to sleep in my vehicle if I have to and it's not easy when it's loaded with gear. Sure you can sleep in the front seat but thats rather painful long term. Not something I'd want to do if I had to hike out eventually. I keep a small ready bag in my SUV and a few things like a jumpstarter, shovel, knife, medical kit etc in the area where the spare tire is stored. It all out of sight and I can sleep in the vehicle.

Great video, thanks. Potassium permanganate crystal or tablets are great for colouring the snow. Incredibly cheap to buy too.

If you’re stuck running your vehicle, make sure the snow isn’t blocking your exhaust.

Love this video. My favorite type of content on RU-vid. I have the same Jackery 1000. I also have two low voltage DC heating blankets which work perfect with the Jackery. Can heat you for a long time. I highly recommend this approach. I also have two Solar Saga 100w panels which will rapidly charged up the Jackery. And if I want, I can bring along my Dometic fridge with beer and brats as well. ;)

I've had Fix a Flat freeze up on me and be totally useless. It might still be useful when it's warmer. Don't go cheap on a tire inflator either. Those cheap little inflators are only good for a use or two and take forever to inflate a totally flat tire.

Oh I know this myself run in place for 3 minutes then get in your sleeping bag, I read a diary of an explorer in the 1800s and they mentioned they did that before going to sleep on their journey and they slept warm the entire night. we don't want the scene from no country for old men right
