I love some of the items today but some - just don't look good on me. I am also petite but have a bit larger chest and the robe style coats just add to that area and therefore, on me they just look frumpy. So - as far as long wool coats (which I love), I definitely have to go for the more fitted, buttoned up, double breast with a waist tie styles with less fabric up top. Anything voluminous like the robe style with those huge lapels hanging off the shoulders, or big furs or sherpa (if long length) just simply overwhelm my frame. I have 2 gorgeous Cole Haan full length wool and cashmere classic long wool coats that are form fitting top to bottom that I've had for 20 years! I have treated them very well and they are still in perfect condition and in that classic style, they are always - well - in style! Haha. I do have a shorter wool coat from Burberry - again, a classic style so very slimming and "chest minimizing" on top. I'm so glad I hung onto those coats and they're still in mint condition because many wool coats lately are that oversized, tons of fabric style. Having stated that - I can get away with something bigger if it's a short coat - for instance, I have that gorgeous black fluffy fur short coat from Mango that you have! I had just ordered it a few days before your video where you showed it! It's SOOO soft and one of the better faux fur options I've found. And I do have a full length faux fur black coat from Zara from a few years back that looks great BUT--- it only looks good BECAUSE it isn't a real thick long fur or padded in any way. It was a great find, very unique in that it is such a short hair faux fur that it's almost like a haircalf (like you see on pillows, shoes, etc...). So that was a perfect find for me since, as I wrote above, any thick fur that is a LONG length coat looks ridiculous on me being petite with a bit bigger chest (I'm a 36 D/DD - thanks Mom and genetics 🙄🤣). Many women think they'd like a bigger chest but when you're petite... uh no. In a lot of clothing styles, I just end up looking heavier overall 😥 so it can be tricky. I am a modest dresser, never trendy anyway, so I definitely have to mostly stick with form-fitting, classic styles, which is fine with me except sadly, the classic styles seem to be more and more difficult to find.

I live in north dakota and i love wearing long coats it's like wearing a styling blanket! Im 5 ft tall and i shop for petites or buy coats that are knee length on a model which is like a good ankle length coat on me.

Actually longer coats are LENGTHENING for petites,if you do a side by side, it's just amazing how wrong we always were!

SOME are lengthening. As long as they're form fitting like say a classic double breasted with a belt or tie to cinch the waist like the Burberry style, but those robe styles with huge lapels and all that material on the top just look frumpy on a petite frame and add weight - which most people DON'T need. I'm 5'1 and many of today's coat styles just swallow me and honestly, a couple of those swallowed Valentina in the video (to my eyes anyway). It's all about proportion and a couple of her choices in this video were a surprise to me since she usually does well. I'd love to be able to pull off some wrap coats or big furry coats but being tiny, we just end up looking like a kid playing dress-up.

@@janelleespinosa6247 OH gosh yes - dropped shoulders are the worst!!! Who came up with that as something flattering?? Probably the same person who came up with "skinny jeans" 😂 Maybe some model who is 6 foot and rail thin. But honestly even then I don't think it's attractive. I used to watch that show on TLC channel "What Not To Wear" and I remember them saying that just because a style is in all the magazines and stores, or even if everyone seems to be jumping on board with a certain style - that never means it automatically looks good on you. I agree and live by that and therefore I'm so glad I have some high-quality things that are classic that I invested in years ago that are still in perfect condition and gather compliments not because they're the latest fashion, but because they flatter my shape. That's the main rule of fashion I live by anyway. In the long run, it saves money too!

You looked fabulous in all, but I cannot wear coats with a wrap belt! I am also petite 5'1.5", 113 lbs., but I have a large bust for my size, 32G, so coats with wrap belts do not look good and just make me look heavy! Single breasted coats and jackets, look the best on me. I also love longer coats. I love to wear a long coat over a very casual outfit when I go grocery shopping or running errands. It look so much more chic, instead of wearing a short jacket or puffer, like so many women do here in the Northwest. I cannot afford most of the ones you have, but have been able to find some beautiful coats on sale at Nordstrom, Anthropologie or J. Crew factory!
