I always love how people react to homesteading/homeschooling like "won't you miss being a part of society?" and I'm like "not being part of it is kind of a point"
@TheSeasonalHomestead
@TheSeasonalHomestead 2 года назад
Yeah, more and more we are like, "...and we can do without that 'part' of society" Less and less of it is even worth emulating anymore. lol!

I love how meticulous you and Cam are about every project you do. Your pantry countertop turned out great. Not only is it so utilitarian, it’s beautiful too. So, not only is your entire family impossibly photogenic, all of you know how to do so much! Cooking, home schooling, gardening, raising animals, preserving, carpentry, sewing…it’s truly impressive.

Thank you for taking your precious time to make your videos, much appreciated. It’s sooo nice to see you and your husband teach your children and that they are so involved. In 1981 when I was 12, my dad moved the family from a suburb in Cleveland, Ohio to “back home” in West Virginia” to homestead. Was the best thing for our family.

I've really gotten attached to your family. Your children are awesome. So rarely do you see children pitching in and helping as yours do. I would love to see them talking more. Your one son looked like a professional chef when he chopped up onions. What wonderful parents they have. Thank you for the seed saving information. I've never been able to grow plants from seeds I've saved. Now l will try and use organic seeds. Thank you sooo much.

I know organic is wayyy better all around. But I didnt even think about how plants that you get seeds from (commercially) are sprayed more because they are on the plant longer 🤯 Its really common sense, but I completely didn't even think about it 😅 Thanks for the extra knowledge!

Your videos give me so much inspiration. My husband and I recently purchased 31 acres on an older farm that use to grow and sell Moss back in the 1950’s. It’s been neglected for quite some time. We have been giving it some much needed care and love. After only being at the New farmland 3 months now. I’m proud to say we have achieved a lot in such a short amount of time. We now have 21 goats, 15 laying hens, one rooster and 3 dogs.

Maybe if you got pigs that like to root around you could put them on your soil at the end of the growing season to remove the grass. If you have multiple plots you could move them between the beds. Their manure would also feed the soil. You could then process the meat late in the year.

I’m drooling over your pantry and cold room storage. We live off grid so we wouldn’t be able to do the cold room. We’re also still working on the shed to house conversion, a pantry will be added on to my kitchen eventually. And you can include the building project as homeschooling! The concrete is learning about ratios, putting in the posts would be fulcrum sand balance, and the boards for the rest would be measuring.

Hi! I've never commented on a RU-vid video before, but just want to say that I love your channel. We have started growing some plants and dream of having our own land someday soon, so your content is very inspiring and informative! I have a question/video recommendation - what do you do with the material left over after harvest? Do you compost or use it in other ways? It'd be awesome to see the aftermath in the garden and learn about your composting process. Thank you for posting these amazing videos! Edit - I just saw that you have a composting video! I should have taken a closer look - going to watch it now!
@TheSeasonalHomestead
@TheSeasonalHomestead 2 года назад
Thank you! We compost, but we also feed any extras to our pigs and chickens. Our video where we are setting up our composting bin isn't very thorough because I've never really felt like an expert at it. I usually throw things in a pile and eventually it all becomes compost. It's mostly cold composting.
