Becky, your daughter was so cute doing cartwheels down the row after you cut the grass there! Your videos are so informative and I like your transparency, when share things that haven't worked for you! And how you are always striving to do better and not give up! Your family is so awesome how they work together! God bless you and your husband for teaching them great skills and instilling in them an excellent work ethic! I love it and look forward to all your videos!

Thank you for showing videos like this! It can be discouraging sometimes to see all these beautiful homesteads and plentiful gardens online, but in reality, or at least what I frequently experience, is it doesn’t always go to plan and there are so many days of frustration and extra work. It’s encouraging to see real situations displayed online because sometimes it feels like no one experiences what I experience. So thank you!

Best of luck with your blackberries, we planted some with out doing research. Planted them right next to our raspberries. Then a two years later found out you can't plant them together. We ripped them out because the raspberries were older and doing well. Sad day but we learned a lot since then. Enjoy your fresh, homegrown blackberries.

What an incredible willing helper your daughter is…much reminds me of myself as a child in my grandmothers garden in Bavaria…a widowed mother at 38 with six children to feed…an amazing example of a true pioneer woman never letting anything stop her…I’ve learned amazing lessons as a child and my love for the outdoors was created then…keep teaching keep learning…never think we know it all…every day is a new opportunity for lessons…stay blessed

Things I learned in this video and your canning one 1)you are extremely stout for your small size! 2) I’m watching this at 2am and all of your work makes me exhausted. 3) idk if I’m cut out for gardening 4) I’m new to all of this and I’ve never seen the soil cup maker thing you used, super handy! 5) I’ve been gardening all wrong, I just need more kids! 😉 Thanks so much for the video! I loved it!

You can always do what I did to get over that getting over excited winter thing, I built a small hydroponics building, so I can grow during the winter, it also doubles as my seed starting building, and I can grow micro greens, I also use it to do all my cloning in, by just simply removing the grow tubes. I designed it so you can easily do so.

I have a question. On average, about how many hours does working in your gardens take out of a day?
@TheSeasonalHomestead
@TheSeasonalHomestead 2 года назад
Depends on the season. In winter, on average it's an hour or less a day in the garden. Spring, it goes up to a 2 hours a day is my best guess. It's hard to pinpoint the real average because some days we are spending lots of hours but others we do very little because of other obligations. Summer is the same amount around a few hours but it feels like more because I'm also preserving.

@Rattlerjake1 2 года назад
Didn't see a fence around your blackberries, better fence it or the deer will devour the plants. Also, instead of buying so many plants, just buy half or a third of them, plant farther apart and when you get some long canes this summer, in them to the ground between plants and they will root. I started with 5 plants and had 50 by the end of that summer.

Yes, Arkansas. The weather is all over the place for us this time of year. Yesterday we had three inches of snow on the ground and 15 degrees. By this time next week it will be in the 60's. It's nice to have a short winter ☺
