Fishing from the shore - We have not been blessed with the weather for the last couple of weeks so any session right now is a good session! A rock mark near Falmouth that always produces something!
- I like them and have no reason to change. They are simple and effective and its one less component on your rig. So one less thing lost if you come snagged and snap off. ;)
Great to see you back out on the rocks John. Some fine Whiting there. Nothing better than a fresh grilled Whiting for breakfast, served with scrambled eggs and crusty bread and butter. 👍😊🐟🎣
just found this channel and to tell you what i absolutely love it to bits. the fishing, shellfish searching, clam and crab cooking, is all top notch content. also, nice fishing setup.
Fred The Skrub - Thank you Fred and welcome to our channel. I’m glad that you are enjoying the full range of our content. If you have any questions just leave me a comment on the video and I’ll get back to you. 😉🎣 Tight lines.
Tiina Saviir - If you ever do visit the UK I think my only advise to you would be avoid anywhere heavily populated. The people and the atmosphere is much nicer. 😊👍🏻
Nice to see you out on the rocks again John, strips are a pain. But if I put 2 swivels after the hook, like hook short pace of line, 60 or 50 and then one size 1/0 swiv 200 lb line 5cm long and one more swiv 1/0 and rest of sood, the rigs get so messed up.love it 👍👍🤙
Nice triple John!! Hannah, get the chips ready!! Supper is about to arrive!! Boy those straps do cause some foul ups!! Nice video mate, bit windy but nice to see a spot of night fishing. Take care. Graham 🎣🐟🐟🐟🍺
Cant leave once the fish start feeding. You got a nice feed, I pretty much gave up on the shore fishing, to much wind and rain and now the shore fishing goes quiet here .
Trojs Fishing - We are getting to that barren time of year over here. As soon as the daffodils come up it goes quiet. Then as soon as the bluebells come out it’s gets better. Aye, you never leave feeding fish. 😉👍🏻
Nice to see you out John, annoying those eels, I hate them. Still as you say you’re out the house. Nice trio of whiting for you to enjoy. Thanks, regards to all m8
One last cast, how many times does it happen, you catch a fish. Then it’s one last cast. I found your explanations of how the fish bite interesting. Your knowledge is amazing John.
Love to see you harvesting your catch, John. I adore proper fresh, caught yourself, fish. Very rare I get to enjoy it, living in the poxy Midlands, but it is a treat I TRULY LOVE! ☺️
This made me realize how much I miss fishing. I was privileged to take care of my more than difficult 95 year old dad for his last five years. Feeling I was more difficult than he when I was a kid.😊 He’s gone now; time to get out my rod and tackle box. Dad taught me all I needed to know about fishing; my favorite part is cleaning the fish. Good times. Miss daddy. Wonderful video.
The Fish Locker Yeah the boats my favourite, I’m working on it now, should be going back down first week of April ,I do a bit of spinning for bass off the shore but not botttom baits, I should get a couple of shore rods and do a bit.
Hello from Brunswick ga usa way down south found you channel 2 days ago and really enjoyed it all...I live by the beach here... your beaches and water are beautiful..
Leigh Dadin - Welcome to our channel Leigh, I love living by the coast. I am glad you are enjoying our videos. All the best and tight lines from Cornwall in the UK. 😊🎣
- Thanks Nigel, I like to mix it up a bit and have always been a bit of an allrounder. As soon as this wind dies off a bit I'll be back out on the shore. :D
Great session John! Good to see you back on the shore. I love it when you start dancing - you were always good at the 'Conga' !! ;-) Some lovely Whiting there too. They will make a nice little feast! Fillet them off, dip in Mayo thinned with a little water, and coat them in Lemon & Black Pepper breadcrumbs from Morrisons! (Other supermarkets are available!)
That's awesome grate setting!!! Would love to come down there and give some of these fishing Mark's ago. And love the "last cast" hahaha grate stuff!!!! Tight lines mate. 🎣🎣🎣
I've started using the up and over rig after watching you videos, and caught my first cod on a squid and black lug wrap. Great channel, I've learnt a lot watching your channel. Cheers.
Lovely to see some decent whiting again they just about disappeared around the east coast along with good cod hope there making a comeback thanks for the great vids
Great fishing John i wish we had that meny eels up here , well we maybe do and because im always putting big baits out and big hooks thats why im always missing them. Next time im gonna down size and fish a pully down the side of the wall see if i can pull a strap out
Earl's Fishing Adventures - If you’re fishing down the side of the wall you want a simple running ledger and a rotten bottom on your lead. Keep it super simple. 😉👍🏻🎣
Awesome mate definitely going to do more at the beach when the weather improve and I don’t to cold 🥶 let’s hope this year brings up a good fish! all the best
Another quality vid John, thanks. Watching your catching soothes away some of the pain of my blanking last 3 attempts! Not a lot, as it's deep wounds as you know, but some haha! 😉 Thanks 👍
Yep, I've learnt that the locals are right. Shore fishing here is gash! That Shetland is called the rock for a reason and even 30lb line is nothing vs those rocky ledges & bottoms that are EVERYWHERE that's accessible enough for me! That I'm rubbish at handling a good fish and when they put up a fight and dive I either pop them off with too much pressure playing too hard and if I give them enough drag and play the slow game they'll find somewhere to bury and snap me off! 🤣😂🤣
@@TheFishLocker Haha! I just cannot get on with Braid John - every 2nd cast results in a tangle. I've tried everything, different brands, different line levels on the spool etc. Given up - gone back to Mono with Fluorocarbon trace!
Trampster - Fair enough mate. If it works for you. 👍🏻 wind knots can be a result of an overfilled spool or slack line on the spool. I know you know this, more for anyone reading the comments. 😉🎣
I was locked up in jail when this was videoed and got out on the 7th of February. I was in there all by myself in a tiny concrete cell for 3 month’s and I’m so lucky I’m here on your channel watching my favorite thing in the world besides riding my motorcycle. Absolutely love your videos and will definitely continue to watch them. Good luck with everything Mate!
Awesome video, subscribed 👍 going to take up coastal fishing this year, absolutely love the idea of fishing for food. I enjoy cooking, so the whole catch/kill/cook and eat sounds like a great way to go about things
Well it's pouring down outside,so this beats having to go out and brave the elements ! Nice size whiting too.As for those small eels they seem to be everywhere, lets just hope they grow fast !!
@@TheFishLocker Cheers mate, hoping to get foraging on the north wales coastline once the storm has passed see what i can find then i'll probably begin my fishing journey on the river Mersey in Liverpool.
Dom Watson - I was reading somewhere that an old bomber aircraft has been uncovered on one of the welsh beaches by a storm!! Who knows what you might find? 😆
Great video John. Was wondering what type of winter you were having. In the central part of the United States, where I live, we have had a very mild winter, with less than 1" of snow. Out trout season is going great, and have enjoyed visiting the local streams with warmer weather. Thanks for getting out in the cold and sharing your adventure, your tackle, and your catch. Enjoy my favorite salt water fish . . . Whiting. My wife is from Spain and her mother used to fix me fried Merluza (Whiting) She used to cut the fish in about 1/2 inch thick "horse shoes." Only had the three prong back bone to worry about.
- Ah I see, she just cut them into steaks. Yeah I filleted them and shallow fried them. The winter here up until about 2 weeks ago had been very mild then we have had a couple of bitter cold snaps down to -6 degrees. But generally on a whole its been mild.
Hi a nice video and at least you caught. Those whiting are a lot bigger than most of the skinny things I catch on the south coast. I just wish I could get to the coast more but it’s a 2 hr drive to the nearest beach. Regards Bill
John Mason - Good to meet you to. Thanks for the heads up but I’m stuck doing maintenance and getting the gear ready for the boat in the water now so won’t be out for a few days. 😉🎣👍🏻
I really admire the way you know the tides and the way of wind, I would love to know, maybe a vid, on how you learned your craft as you seem to be a reel master (misspelling intended) :-) Great vid BTW
jackcameback - Thanks mate. That is think is too big a subject to put into one video. But I do try and put a bit of it into every one I do. So through all of the videos there will be almost every eventuality covered. 😉👍🏻
As usual I really enjoyed your vid John. Whiting is a fish I've never tried , will have to get down to the fishmonger to give it a go. Perhaps Mrs. Fish Locker can do a vid on cooking it. All the best Phil, Manchester.
I fished new Brighton beach on the Wirral 2 nights ago 7 small whiting and 5 small flattys never seems to be anything big out of the Mersey but it's always nice to wet a line good video keep them coming mate
The Fish Locker I have heard of good fish there was a 9.6 pound thorn back last week by all accounts but I mean for me personally never anything big I am a carp angler myself but do the Mersey with a friend every now and then
Aquaholic H20 - Theres a short how to vid on the Fishlocker workshop 😉👍🏻 They’re pretty simple and are great because they don’t have to be a specific length. Varying length hooklengths all work. 😉
