Escaping the madness for a while.
Doing a Solo Overnighter or Solo Camping in winter is probably the best way to keep social distance.
This is nothing to be proud of, but we are just recovering of having the highest Covid 19 infected people in Europe.
This video is not only to put everything in perspective, but also to honor a legend in the bushcraft community who was known and respected all over the world ,he passed away a year ago.

Lol,this is how I dice them,I do it with almost everything,also at home. It happens regularly that the swans land in that area ,the water has less speed on that spot. Free time is a bit scarce for me lately,every moment I have I try to enjoy the fullest. I put some additional information about your TAG in it, For the moment we can't celebrate Christmas with family, But we are positive and I have some footage that I am working on. I bought this pot in remembrance of Mors. Stay safe out there my friend

Thanks it's a tribute to one of your fellow countryman,it took me a while to gather some stuff. Canadian stuff is hardly to get your hands on around here. The Mors pot ,i bought second hand is my very first use of it I show the book on the background,the pot in the front and the date that the video was released was the date ,one year after the passing of Mors Kochanski. Bedankt,het was nodig om er even tussen uit te gaan,een rustig plaatsje en een warme maaltijd. Deze plaatsen zijn schaars aan het worden zeker nu dat er zoveel wandelaars op de been zijn. Kerstmis mag zelfs niet met familie gevierd worden op de moment,hoe is het daar bij jullie ?

@@sosteve9113 Hier zijn ook veel meer mensen buiten dan gewoonlijk, hopelijk wordt het nu wat minder met de sneeuw etc. De restricties zijn hier sinds afgelopen donderdag een stuk minder geworden, dus we kunnen weer naar de kroeg :-)

@@dabberty schitterend,kroeg gaan is hier al even verboden en gaat nog wel even duren. Met al die mensen die nu buiten gaan wandelen zie je jammer genoeg meer afval langst de wandel paden. Een koel biertje zal er wel ingaan 😋

Simple but good,tarps are very versatile and some good food gets you trough a frosty night. It's been a bit hectic around here lately,we even can't celebrate Christmas with family. Hope all is well with you Tom,stay safe my friend

Good friend Randy, Thank you for the compliment. Tarps are very versitile,i came up a dry standing tree just a small one,and used to come to this area,and make it to a pole for the tarp. The things that been showed are sometimes interesting to see how someone deal with a certain problem. i'm more a tarp or tent sleeper myself ,i'm not propper fit for doing hammock sleeping in winter. Glad you could join me my dear friend,this way i always cut most of my vegetables,also at home. I could buy the pot,from someone who did't have much use for it,i'm happy to present you my very first meal in a original Mors pot. I'ts a bit crazy around here with the Covid thing,Christmas won't be with family,everyone had to stay at home. This was also the very first frost here,been wet and cold for a couple of weeks,but that night the temperature dropt minus 2. Testing a tarp that i recently bought in the summer to see how wel the effectiness of the camoflage is. Hope you and your family are well,stay safe my friend

Thank you,if you more interested in the subject of bushcraft you come to names that are highly respected in it. Mors had genuinely a lot of knowledge,when you read his book you sense that he can talk about many topics in depth. These pots weren't that very available around here,I got lucky from a American who got the 1.8 and the 1.1 l. And was willing to sell it because not much use of the 1.8l. I saw them still ,but not black anodized at a American website for camping. Stay safe

Tarps are very versatile,I guess I'm more a tent/tarp sleeper, I'm not that equipped enough to do hammocks overnighters. Hope all is well,stay safe out there my friend

What a wonderful nighttime cook-up using a most impressive pot and what looks like one of those fold- up, slot-together rocket stoves. Out in deep country is where I find peace for my soul, though in milder weather, hopefully beneath a silvery veil of stars. Above hung a buttery moon that looked like it had exploded and spilled its light across the inky sky - stars sprinkled the dark canvas like diamonds, the cloudy Milky Way gleaming among them. I was moved by your reply, I'm so glad you have those memories,they are more precious than all the wealth in the world. It's so rare that only two people have that experience ,that's you and your twin sister. The way you describe those surroundings,is the way I feel when I'm looking at the sky,with a cracking fire in front of me. Just beautiful. That cookpot came in my possession by a online auction for helping out disabled veterans and veterans with psychological problems or other issues. The auction was done by a small but genuine groups to raise some money to help them out. I rather help out the smaller companies or the people in my area then the big companies or NGO's. Most important thing is that your ok my friend,don't worry about the video's. It was a tarp I purchased last summer after my military tarp from 1982 was finally given up. This meal was the very first time I could cook in a Mors pot,also the first frost came in the Ardenne. Not very far of the battle of the bulge. My victorinox has been with me on a daily base now for 12 years, If you look closely ,you sure can tell ,it's been pretty battered up,but still very sharp. @@sosteve9113 Thanks for replying Steve. I do actually have a question if that's ok. What's the best sized tarp to use for a solo tarp tent with enough room to accommodate a rucksack but not too spacy so your body can't warm up the air?

Personally I like the size 3x3 ,the configuration that you saw in the video gave enough room for me and my rucksack,I heard of hammock campers that they prefer 3x4 to get everything covered while they are in their hammock. I guess it depends of your preference and how much room you want. Rucksack,dog..... I used 1.2x1.9 for many years but admit 3x3 makes it easier,(storms) You can always use less of your tarp but never stretch it imo 😁 Weight around 800 grams,same as my solo tent. Maybe before buying a "expensive tarp" In the hobby shop or construction materials,you can buy a very cheap 3x3 plastic,mostly blue bache or tarp,with eye lids. Try that first,put it up in the garden or camp with it,to see if the size fits your needs. Atb Steve

Is het alweer een jaar geleden dat Mors Kochanski is overleden , pfff waar blijft de tijd zelfs met de covid ellende gaat het snel. Bedankt Martin,ik heb super momenten gekend met mijn snotlapje ,tot het ram versleten was zoals ik het demonstreer in het filmpje van de Vosges. Vanaf dan was het nog voor zomer uitjes. Het is exact een jaar geleden nu,het heeft wat moeite gekost om de Mors pot te kunnen bemachtigen. Dit is zijn eerste gebruik door mij,en dacht er een stew in te maken wel gepast zou zijn. Ja de Covid toestand,we mogen zelfs geen familie zien, zelfs niet met Kerst. Af en toe kan ik even weg om een uitje te maken,veel te weinig naar mijn mening 😀 Groeten Steve

Kijk, simpel maar effectief. Piramide shelter, Vitorinox mes (Rangergrip?) , houtoventje en een goede stew, wat ben je nog meer nodig voor een geslaagde overnighter. Top filmpje Steve! ;-)

Bedankt Bert,de rangergrip heeft inderdaad de zelfde tools,maar is na dit model uitgekomen. De rangergrip heeft een lock in de inlay van de tools,zoals veel modellen nu. Dit model de rucksack is een van de weinige met een lock aan de zijkant. Het beestje begint oud te worden,als je het van dichtbij bekijkt zie je veel dingen die het aantonen. Het is een simpele maar effectieve set up met het zeil,met genoeg ruimte binnen in. Met een lekker stoofpotje erbij heb je een perfecte nacht. Groeten

Hoi Steve, wat hebben we toch een leuke hobby. Je zij weg van de drukte en alle gekheid rondom corona en werk. Dat is je prima gelukt, lekker potje eten beter dan dat prutppotje dat ik vandaag gegeten heb in het bos. Mooi om te zien hoe je de rust bewaard met het aanmaken van je stove. volgens mij was het een koude nacht. Mooie plek daar welk gebied zit je daar ergens. Groetjes Hans

Bedankt Hans,onze hobby is een van de mooiste hobbies die er zijn. En onze aanpak is zelfs zeer sterk gelijkend,niet alles wordt gefilmd maar ik zie het in jouw video's terug komen. Deze pot heb ik 10jaar over getwijfeld om te kopen omdat het te duur was,nu heb ik hem 2de hands gevonden en gekocht . Er even tussenuit en gewoon wat proberen ,is al genoeg om er even tegen te kunnen. Waar ik zat was de regio van Bouillon in de Belgische Ardennen,bijna 3 uur rijden voor me maar een mooie streek. Ik had net jou filmpje gezien,perfect zag er vrij afgelegen uit waar je filmt. Persoonlijk eet ik ook graag de bottels van de wilde rozen,ze zijn wat zoeter. Groetjes

@@sosteve9113 van dieren zowiezo er loopt een wildpad vlak langs het beekje waar ik wel eens ben verrast door 2 reeën. Mensen weet ik niet het hutje staat er nu 2 weken en er is niets vernield wel waren mijn wilgentakken verdwenen die ik daar had laten liggen en een steen van de vuurplek was verplaatst. 🤔

Don't tell anyone but I'm a swan whisperer lol,I just got lucky I guess. The tarp I bought last summer,they are a bit pricey but hopefully they can take some abuse. I wanted one with a camo pattern,this one is a DD tarp 3x3. I'm glad you like it my friend,hope all is well
