Winter Storm Hot Tent - Camping and Bushcraft - Stone Baked Pizza - 3 Days Hike

Bushcraft trip and hike for 3 days. First campsite may seem odd at the exposed lake in the high wind. But in a storm like that, with the wind coming in it was the only place that was safe from falling trees. The sawhorse is somewhat more stable with the legs angled forward, but I usually go the other way around as long as I feel its stable sawing. Benefit is free space under the saw spot and not having the saw horse legs in the way.When the log/tree you are sawing gets smaller flip the legs forward and get the last couple of pieces off with stable sawing. Turning and dragging a fresh spruce off the road with the bows etc still attached to the trunk is very heavy. If you can, drag it from the base like I did because you have big solid branches to hold. Turning it from the top is awkward but not as heavy.. you risk getting spruce sap on you your clothes though up at the flexible top of the tree with the cones etc. A rope helps or sawing it one more time.
Thanks for Watching!

Hello there. I am from Denham Springs Louisiana, USA. I'm 57 years old and over the last few years have been dealing with health issues, spinal mylopethy, surgery isn't an option, from 2016 when I lost everything I owned in a 500 year flood, and a few months after I found out my health problems. I really enjoy the woods, the Bush or whatever one may call it. I enjoy watching all sorts of bushcraft videos, I can see myself doing everything that person is doing, I can dream I'm out there, so whatever kind of video you shoot, gives me enjoyment. Please keep doing them, even if they are repetitious. Thanks

I’ve spent 100’s of nights in hot tents guiding trips. Not once did I ever consider using my stove as an oven…. That was brilliant! Thanks for another inspiring video. I enjoy the cinematic aspects of your videos. The concentrated effort to share natures beauty. But you always seem to have another Bushcraft skill, or innovation, to share. Your videos have been especially appreciated during my recovery from a knee replacement! Thanks!

My personal bias is for the nature, the mood and feeling of the place you capture so well, plus the smart things you make/use to increase the experience. I personally skip past anything to do with food, I don't get the obsession people have with it. I live not far from you, I camp weekly (through the school year) on a mountain close to city where I study, so I'm not lacking the outdoors or the particular enviroment but I still love the experience of your video adventures...I'm onboard with whatever way you choose to go and I look forward to it.

I like that stove very much . Everything just folds upon itself. Food looked superb as always. Clever idea with the pizza oven . As far as your channel , if you’re not happy you have to go where your heart tells you . I think you’re very balanced. Backpacking , traveling by canoe , fishing, bushcraft , beautiful drone footage and of course cooking . Was prepping some gumbo when I saw I missed the notification earlier. Have a great day.

EN Hello, World! I know you are looking at us right now. You are looking through the frightened eyes of Poland; the indecisive gestures of France; the calculated steps of Germany; the nervous outbursts of Latvia; the skeptical tweaks of Hungary; the idle murmur of Italy; the dumb silence of Israel; the distant cries of the United States and Canada, and through the eyes of hundreds of other countries. You find it difficult to take in and can't help but avert your eyes especially as you are witnessing us shielding our children from the never-ending missile strikes. When you finally dare to raise your eyes, you’re left open-mouthed. Your surprise reduced to a wonderstruck whisper, “What is the deal with Ukraine?” Ukraine is bombarded with “Grad” rockets, and, yet, She stands. Ukraine is swarmed with cruise missiles, and, yet, She stands. Ukraine is harassed by torrents of tanks, and, yet, She stands. In the face of an umpteenth “We’re very sorry and we’re deeply concerned, but…”, She replies, “Well then, suit yourself, I’ve got an enemy plane to shoot down.” As the nuclear button glares red, She laughs it off and holds the Molotov cocktail in hand. The world has stopped breathing and started scare buying iodine pills, while Ukraine keeps on standing. What kind of steel is this Ukraine made out of? What was in her mother's milk? What do thousands of volunteers’ hands feed Ukrainian soldiers with? You know, World, you know nothing. And we, too, probably did not really know much up until today. We did not know that we possessed such strength. Such power. Such Love. We have always had it. These feelings simply stayed dormant for years under Soviet ruins, promises of Russian savior, feathers of the Dove of Peace, and branches of the Tree of Love. They lay waiting to explode. When the time came, they did not erupt with fear. Fear is what You feel today, World. We, however, feel something different. We feel anger for every child murdered. For every fate mutilated. For every city burned. For every dream ruined. And this anger gives us strength. We feel freedom. For the first time. Truly. The kind of Freedom that is so sharp and strong, so naked and vulnerable but, yet, so powerful. And this Freedom gives us Strength. We feel Love. There is so much Love to feel. We are no longer divided into friends or strangers. Everyone is part of a big family. With millions of hands meticulously paving the way to victory, each pair is in the right place. And this Love gives us Strength. Therefore, World, do not be afraid. We stand on guard. Spring will come soon enough, and it will shine with colors of blue and yellow whether you are afraid or not!!! For me, what I enjoy about your channel is the views, the variations on the camps and equipment you try, and I particularly LOVE the buschrafting you do. I guess to you it may seem redundant or tedious to come up with 6-7 different ways of making a bow saw, or pot hanger, or other camp item, but what you come up with is very inspiring and creative, and often gets me out for no other reason than to try it myself, and possibly some variations or spin off ideas watching what you make gives me. No pressure. 😃😉 I also love the cinematic experience of just immersing myself in your videos like you are our ASMR guide for a trip you are bringing us on. But I do understand the feeling of approaching a crossroads. My suggestion would be to diversify into distinct, but connected "series". Maybe one more focused on cooking, one on delving deeper into the aspects of nature that speak to you. Another on skills and crafts. Perhaps one on the various aspects and challenges of wilderness cinematography. On the surface, it may sound like a ton of more work, but it may actually streamline the goals and "scripting/editing" for each video since it would have a narrower focus? Of course, I sincerely hope you still throw in a "traditional" Swedwoods video every now and then, but that's out of selfishness. Whatever you do, you have set a very high standard in what you have shared with us so far, and I see no reason to think what you do in the future will be any different, whether it is targeted purely at your existing fan base our outside it. I should add, that even though it may feel repetitious to you, it rarely feels that way to us as nothing is ever done in the same place, under the same conditions, using the exact same natural material with the exact same outcome. You may be at the point where you are seeing more of the similarities than the differences, and as viewers, we have the perspective that lets us revel in the differences rather than the similarities. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be well thought out, and as enjoyable and interesting as what you have brought us so far. Carpe Diem my friend!

I've found one of your videos a few days ago, now I'm suscribed. I have watched several bushcraft videos and I find yours not repetitive at all. I agree that the shots showing the surroundings, different light, different sounds allow the viewer to absord the mood and "be a part" of it... sometimes I find myself watching the same videos few times and everytime the mood is different. The fact that there is no music and not talking makes the experience as a viewer more intense... even when it's about chopping some onions. The cooking does not have to be excentric or complicated, simplicity is key for me. I also agree that bushcraft videos do not have to be always about "surviving" but mostly about having fun and enjoying the outdoors. Big thumbs up from me and please keep the videos coming!

I am along to share the total experience: hiking, boating, shelter-building, camp cooking, equipment selection, use, and videography. PERHAPS not every video needs to include every one of these elements. You are a photographer so take us mostly on the photoshoot part of THAT video. Winter forest - booming, like shots, croaking crows, snow from a spruce branch that fell by the collar, tracks in which the bottom is not visible, steam from wet mittens and parallel, now and then intersecting curves of ski tracks; spring forest - the smell of black, still frozen earth, flowing in all directions, choking with melt water, a stream, a thin white strip of skin blue from the cold between a sweater and jeans, and on it large pimples that can only be melted with lips; summer forest - hot drops of golden resin on copper bark, hair smelling of barbecue smoke, a white, daisy-covered sundress stained with dry red wine and a tickling pine needle that you can’t get at all if you don’t unbutton two thousand small, like ladybugs, buttons , rapidly spreading under the fingers along the back and chest.

Hello first of all you need to become more present with your fans. I'm David Holmes from Boston Massachusetts, my great grandma was directly from sveden as she would have said it,., .. she lived with us when she got older and there's a little story that you may like. Anyways that was a morning when my mom made me runny eggs and she told me that I had to eat them before I could leave the table. I was crying so much my eggs were floating in tears. Great gramma Holmes said" yeany(Jeanie my mom) don't make yittle David eat those eggs, and she was so strong, as was my mom, I didn't have to eat those eggs. I'll never forget the strength in the sweetness of my Swedish grandma. This is the same reason I love swedwoods, the strength you show in your survival skills quietly is why I'm proud to be a Sweed. Don't lose your foresight on this sight but grow it, your taking for granted your strengths in the bushcraft as well as your love for freedom that's what Sweden is all about. Don't forget Swedish people were the original settlers of Cape Cod Massachusetts, look into it. Your videos bring me strength and comfort when everyone around me doesn't. GOD BLESS DAVID DURAND JR

For some time now, it began to seem to me that this forest is ultimately part of my “I”. I wandered within myself. Just like blood circulates through blood vessels. It turns out that I saw my own inner world in front of me, and what looked menacing in my eyes, in fact, was an echo of the fears that had settled in me. The web that entangles me is the web of spiders spread in my heart. And the birds that chirp overhead are raised by me. These are the images that were born and took root in my head.

I remember the first time watching you climb some rocks and then realising by the comments that you have to do it twice - to get the camera. I am a faithful fan since then. What are the memorable moments - the amazing drone shots, the winter snow calm, those long hikes in the far north with all the bugs, and the onions, too :) and your guitar!!! Such a treat! And your coffee!

My friend...we've watched you in silence for so many years with amazing videos every time, I mean not one video in your back catalogue was a duff ! each one mint . For me I still think your one of the best out there for traditional minimal intuitive bushcraft camping....along with our dear friend Nagualro RIP....The only thing I would say that could benefit me from a personal selfish point is that we engage in you on camera more, and maybe you could start talking to us...I find watching RU-vid videos that its a journey getting to know the person behind the camera as well as engaging with the super cool content you continually give us as viewers in our nice warm fixed abodes....continue doing what you do best friend. Take care...🔥

This was amazing! Amazing from start to finish. From the hot tent on the lake in storm to the crow sounds to the wave up at us during the drone flight to the saw horse build and the pizza oven and last but not least the footage of gettin out. This one had it all. I like it all sir. The cookin, the choppin the drone stuff. Just keep doin you man! Man! I wish they sold tomato sauce in a tube here in the states! I have no clue why we don’t. I kinda felt like the crow sounds and the cooking sequences were a tip of the hat to some of your fellow Swedish bushtuber colleagues who are with us and with us in spirit. You’re a good man and we’re all happy with anything and everything you put out as long as you’re havin fun doin it. Peace be with you. NQU

Creative use of the fast folding stove. I have to try that sometime. As the pizza nerd I am, I have to point out that next time, put the stone in the oven 30-60 minutes before and do not take it out because then it cools down. It may be a little difficult to carve a pizza shovel out in the bush, but I use cardboard. Weighs nothing and is easy to pack in the bag.
@Swedwoods
@Swedwoods 2 года назад
In the video I put the stone in the fire before the bake to pre heat it. A lightweight titanium stove heats up in seconds so you don't want it over the fire for longer than need be. Thanks!

Good job gutting that one out ... it looked soooo cold the first night! I think it's better when it just snows rather than the mixed rain/sleet/snow. The aerial views were beautiful and reminded me of almost another planet. Thank you so much for another superb video and they just keep getting better. You set the standard and I hope you don't change a thing and don't worry about "same type of videos" - every one of your creations is unique and beautiful and I can't wait for the next one. You have really inspired me.
