In mid-February, Winter Storm Uri wreaked havoc across the entire state of Texas with ice, snow, lost power, frozen water pipes and more. During this time of crisis, Volunteer Fire Departments went above and beyond to assist in any and every way they could.
Many departments had equipment that could not handle the cold and experienced damage to pumps, tanks, generators, slip-on units and more. So, following the unprecedented weather event, Texas A&M Forest Service offered applications for grant assistance to replace storm-damaged items to every Texas volunteer fire department.
Through the “Declared State of Disaster Emergency Grant - Winter Storm Uri,” 148 grants worth $720,918 were distributed to fire departments in need of repairs and replacements after the storm. Because of this grant funding, many fire departments are now back up to running at their full capacity and able to assist in any future crises that may occur.

Thank you, TFS, for coming to bat for NWFD and our little community. (And thank you for all the personal assistance you've given my family throughout the years. A special hat tip to Joel Hambright!!)
