Great video as always, Ryan. Try picking up one of those neoprene back supports that they sell at fitness shops, they really help to hold the heat in and extend the range on the battery by containing the thermal loss from the battery. Local Bike Shops in my part of Ontario will not touch a Direct to Consumer Ebike with a 10' pole because most of them are only trained on Brose, Bosch or Shimano mid-drives and they will only service their own brands. If you live within 200 kms of my Ebike shop and have a direct to consumer Ebike then I am your option for a certified Ebike mechanic and we service all brands, even Rad. I did have a Voltbike customer that I spent an hour with back in 2019 discussing why Voltbike was a good decision call me this week, he wanted to have a rear flat fixed and when I told him it was a half hour shop rate because it is a bitch of a job he watched a RU-vid video and repaired it himself. (y) If he calls me for a replacement motor then I will know that he didn't get the torque washers installed properly. Needless to say I never saw an ambassador fee for my time and trouble, so could you please tell the powers that be to remove i-Cycle Electric Bike Company from the Voltbike Ambassador page as we no longer carry Voltbikes and may not service them either.

Thanks for the great Video Ryan! I'm going to be storing the bike for the winter in my garage. I'll be taking the battery inside the house. You mentioned cycling the battery and keeping it at 80% charge if it's stored for a while. How can I cycle the battery if not riding it and how do I know when it's at roughly 80%?

On a rare but dry sunny day ride the bike every three months to run the battery down. Recharge and ride again using one bar.

I made an extension cord with one female socket to plug a 120V FAN-LESS space heater into, the other end I soldered strips of copper made from copper plumbing pipe that fit into the battery pack power slots (the copper pipe pieces are softened by heating red hot and quenching in cold water can then be easily cut with tin snips, cut to size and folded double for thickness). Turn on the battery and turn on the space heater until one bar on the level disappears. Or, leave the bike turned on for a day and it will drain the battery.

Good video Ryan, my question was going to be about the battery on a bike that is not being used for the winter if the charger should be left plugged in or not. Near the end you said to run the battery down to 30% then recharge. How can I run the battery down like that if I'm not using the bike ?

Good video on maintenance. I also like the new Step-Thru Yukon. I've been on your website many times debating which Voltbike would best suit me. I've thought the Yukon would be the best for my height and weight, 6'2" and 275lb., but with limited flexabilty from leg surgeries (damn motorcycles), I was hesitant to order one. But the step thru looks like it might be the answer. How do I put myself on the list for one? PS: I'm 71 years old.

Would you recommend a battery blanket over the battery in cold weather?

Yes, and hot cocoa with marshmallows. Seriously, keep the battery warm inside your house , then install and go riding. The battery will keep itself warm while powering the bike. That said, a blanket would not hurt. .

Just turn it on, turn on the lights and check every few hours until only three bars show on the battery.
