WIP N’CHAT || Mountain Lions will not stop or interrupt any Christmas Parties 🤣 

Love the painting! Such vibrant colors! I live in Ohio along Lake Erie, and a few years ago, I was waiting for a bus and saw a coyote running down the street! It wasn't until later that day that I saw the news and it was reported that it was coyote mating season, and there were warnings not be careful walking you pets near the area.

I always wanted an American Girl doll as a child. I do have the Molly and Samantha book sets to this day. I loved them so much. We even did a church play based on the Samantha Christmas book.

Thanks for the fun chat! I loved American Girl. There wasn't one of the original 5 that I looked like so I just got the one that I liked the best. I had Addy, Josefina, Molly, Samantha and a bitty baby lol Addy was my ask from Santa and I cried so much when I saw her by the stockings that Christmas morning. I was so happy and grateful lol such fun memories!

I loved the Babysitters Club, Nancy Drew and Sweet Valley books. I was obsessed with Barbies and the Magic Nursery dolls. 📚

Thank you for the WIP and chat and the company. Enjoyed hearing about the family and the events past and present. I was a “Bookseller” at Barnes and Noble for many years. I remember all the books you mentioned and the dolls that they would give away in a drawing for the American Girls. It was much fun working in the children’s department reading books to them too. I used to love the Boxcar Children! I have zero memories of any of them, even the vague description you gave. But I remember reading so many of them! 📚

D In the past, if a gift didn't arrive in time, we would take a picture, frame it in a cheap frame, and wrap it up. I am a gift giver, too. Especially stockings, some of the stockings cost me more than the actual presents!

Ooh, I remember when I was little and had to share my room with younger siblings. I'd be in the top bunk and they'd have the bottom and needed a night light. If read books by the night light! Thinking about that now, it may have caused vision problems because if there are any shadows, I swear I can't see anything! Haha. I remember reading a few of the Boxcar Children, but I loved The Babysitters Club and Sleepover Friends, Sweet Valley Kids. There was a linen type closet in my room that my mom filled with books and I read every single one. My favorite set from the closet were the Serendipity books and the Standin' Tall books! I'm thinking some of those may have been exclusive to Utah but, who knows, lol

My thing when I was younger was cabbage patch kids. I knew that package very well!!! I had like four shelves of them! My daughter liked American girl, we got her the bitty baby twins and got a custom girl made to match her. I don’t really read 📕!

I have a grandson who is 6, does not talk like other 6 yr olds, and has other issues, but he knew his ABCs and numbers by sight at two years old and has taught himself to read when he was four. I can tell you this, they will progress on their own schedule. He is the most brilliant soul, yet others call him slow and behind schedule. I can say this, he is the only person I know who is comfortable in his own skin and lives in the moment. He is the light in my soul and I love him dearly. Kudos to you and God bless you for being such and endearing person with your children. To me they are not special needs, they just are more human than others.

📚 Reading under the covers- check. Getting busted for it- check. LOL Loving the book catalog from school- check! I loved getting to shop for books! For years I read through Ann McCaffrey’s entire library. But you know, thinking, it was reading Wrinkle In Time that started me into science fiction. Have fun with your families this coming week! I envy you that. I’m older and don’t have much family left so our get togethers are small. Merry Christmas 🎄

I feel your pain Lindsay! My daughter never slept starting around the age of 2, not even naps!! She had ADHD. Those were some tough years. She is 30 now and sadly still struggles with her ADHD and insomnia. Just not as bad these days. A psychiatrist suggested she take a sedative when she was in HS but we all decided to forgo any additional meds and just continued with the melatonin from time to time. She has been taking melatonin now as she found a brand she says seems to actually work. It is not easy but hang in there. As my daughter got older she stopped roaming the house, staying in her room reading, writing and things, so safety became less and less of a concern. 📖😊

My in-laws live in the forest they have bears, mountain lions and deer wander through the yard all the time. Luckily we are always inside when they come on by. When I was coming off night shift I pulled into my driveway opened my door looked up and there was a bear standing on its hind legs close enough I could reach out and touch him! I quickly jumped back in the car until he wandered away then ran into the house so fast. It had been rummaging through garbage bins they were all over the road.

I loved the Mandy books as a young girl! I looked all over to find some for them for my daughter but she would not read them.

I googled the article about the mountain lion 😂 And I chuckled about your blog about K-pop. It just seems really random, and I love it! I have always been a bookworm. I remember us traveling somewhere and I would try to read as we went under street lights. And I would stay up way too late trying to get another chapter in. 📚📚

I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas. I liked the babysitters club books. I think i only read the first boxcar children books.

Yes I live below a mountain in the woods on a private drive in the middle of nowhere and walked outside one day to put my kids in the car to go grocery shopping and a huge mountain lion was just standing in my road beside my driveway staring at me so I told the kids not to come out and I watched out the window until it was long gone for us to leave thankfully it was only an hour though and not 6 hours

Okay... dating myself, but I grew up reading Trixie Beldon books. I remember reading and re-reading a single issue, waiting with trepidation until the next book was released. Regarding animals being attacked by wildlife... we have this happen regularly in my town in Canada. Cougars, coyotes, deer, sometimes black bears.... attack dogs, cats, and people right in the middle of town.

You have had a very full week! First of all, I've had terrible luck with Animal Control officers in my county (had a whole family of skunks under my sidewalk when I first moved into a new home in town. Got told "There's nothing I can do. Best of luck! Also, no shooting anything within city limits.") but it sounds like your grandparents had a wonderful story this week! Also, I absolutely adored "The Boxcar Children" series and the American Girl books. We couldn't afford the dolls, but I loved looking through the catalog every holiday season and reading all about all of the accessories and the story that went with each outfit. LOVED them. 🥰📚

📖📚📙📘 I do have a story to tell you about two bear cubs. I'm older than you, 61 to be exact. 😂 When I was around 8 and my sister was 6, we went berry picking with the family. I am from Canada, and on our island, we used to drive probably two hours to pick blueberries. This day, my mom and dad and my grandmother and aunt were also with us. Blueberries grow best on burnt over areas. So we were in a patch of forest that had been burnt over, but on the edge there were still lots of trees. Myself and my sister saw 2 bear cubs running up a tree and of course we ran after them. My dad worked construction all his life and he was about 5' 11" tall. His wedding ring size was a 13!!! We always said he had bear paws for hands. 😂 When he saw what we were doing, he ran like a football player and the next thing we knew the both of us kids were scooped up one under each arm and he was running the fastest that I have ever known him to run back to the car.. All the time he was running, he was screaming at everybody else to get back in the car. What we didn't know as kids was that mama bear would be coming looking to see why her babies were crying. We were just so upset that we didn't get the play with the cute little bears. It makes no difference how old I get I will absolutely never forget that day. I was also a Scalactic bookbuyer. When the pamphlets would come out I would go to mom and ask how much money I was allowed to have to spend this month. Then I would make my list. And I would always pick out the books that had the most pages because I read so fast. That's my stories for today. And I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with all of your family.❤😊❤

I was walking around our yard with my little dog waiting for her to do her thing. I happened to look up and the field right next to ours was a cougar, I grabbed up my dog and rush to my door. came in looked at it and it was right there at the fence, scared me. we built a large, fenced area on other side of the house, I still worried though. we love in the country and see bears, deer, eagles so always worry. 📖📖🐱🐱

📖 I was into Holly Hobbie and Strawberry Shortcake.

I too, got Molly, and was disappointed. I shouldn’t have been, and I true to be grateful but I was little and not sure I pulled it off. I can see the sadness in pictures For us, I have two sisters and when we got our American Girl dolls there were only three. So my older sister got the first one, and the first one in the magazine (Kirstin. Also similar to my sisters middle name), my 2nd sister got the 2nd one in the catalog, Samantha, so I got the 3rd one. Molly. (That’s always how things were divided: oldest got the first thing or to pick first, and I was last. Another example: when playing: oldest was Minnie Mouse, middle was Daisy Duck, there weren’t any other characters so they said I could be goofy’s girlfriend: Clarabelle 👍, who was only in like one cartoon at the time). Anyway, I was extra disappointed because they’d JUST came out with Felicity as the 4th doll right before that Christmas and I really wanted her instead but still got Molly. She’s a cute doll. But I too just didn’t want the one with the glasses and she didn’t have super pretty old dresses since she was from the 40’s etc. so I feel your pain 😉🤷‍♀️ 📖
