From what they are saying the resolution will be slightly lower than even the max for the crystal, so no, this won't be anywhere near the max resolution for the 12k.
Hopefully the team can do something about that battery and USB cord...reminds me of the HTC vive wireless dongle...that cord was attached the same way and is a nuisance
I always found it best to Velcro mount the 21w 10000mahr Vive Wireless Adapter battery on top of the rear headstrap. Worked well with my Vive Pro 1. Pity it was like having an operating toaster on your head though, lol! Also, it tended to kill FPS performance by about 25-30% in non-optimized multi-thread sims like msfs. Hopefully, Pimax has solved this problem with their wigi software/firmware. I don't have a lot of faith that they have done so themselves, but maybe Intel's latest wigi v2 software will help, who knows? My VP1 with Etsy Gear VR lens mod and Index controllers is still a force to be reconned with imho. Especially with a i913900k/rtx4090/32Gb 6400ram, being able to add heaps of super sampling. SDE is still a little more than I'd like thanks to its lower Index-like res (1400x1600). Still pretty hard to beat in darkish environments thanks to those beautiful AMOLED screens. This is still my preferred headset for dusk to dawn night flying with msfs. I'm still waiting for better micro-oled headsets with pancake lens to come out. Maybe a VP3, or Index2? The Pimax 12K QLED may also be worth considering and I'll be keeping an eye out for that one as well.
I actually prefer 72hz. It makes all games run better at high resolutions and settings and really can't tell a difference between 72 and 90. I wouldn't count on 120hz anytime soon. That's a LOT of speed with a LOT of data to move through the air...
The average wireless even at an arcade is going to be nothing compared to CES. They were having issues there since everyone and their grandma was using wifi there and had a thousand different access points, hence the need for the faraday cage there. In any standard environment this should work fine even if you have a few of them in use at the same time.
The image quality of the Crystal headset is seriously like nothing I've ever seen before in VR, it's mind blowing. Flying in MSFS for instance seriously looks like you're in a real plane (provided you have an RTX 4090 so that you can really max out the settings in MSFS). It was very much worth the cost for me.
@@cheeeeezewizzz Stop bitching? Pimax screwed a TON of people the past 5-6 years and you want everyone to just forget about it??? haha... FU Pimax ;) Pimax=Garbage junk. My Pimax garbage is collecting dust in the closet. I feel sorry for anyone still using their pre beta junk.
@@JaapGrolleman do you nkow you and sweviver are the only white people left working for this scummy company? your presentations are pathethic; joshua at least had some charm xD
It refers to the wavelength (how closely the waves are spaced together). Standard wifi is 5ghz so 60ghz has the waves packed much more closely together, which results in a much shorter range but also means that more data can be transmitted.
This is very exciting, can't wait until they release the final product. Right now having the headset be battery operated is largely pointless. This will give it purpose.
@@paulct91Possibly, but wifi 7 would require some kind of video compression to hit those numbers and then you start running in to potential latency issues.
Yes, when indeed, maybe March 2024, they had a weird cutoff date of March 31st 2024 for applying $800 off a Crystal to 12K QLED trade-in. Which is confusing since the 12K Is obviously not out yet. From the weird grammar or worded sentence about a trade-in from their January 16th 2024 email blast.
@@soundscaperecordings1111 I don't think they want to come out with a headset where people can only play it with RTX 5090. It's just not profitable because you're not reaching as many users. They're going to have to use DFR. Or come out with a headset that doesn't have to be 200 degree....150 degree will be good enough.
@@reptilexcq2 my point is that even the crystal cannot be used to it's full potential in a lot of games so more pixels or a higher fov to push doesn't seem that ideal but hey maybe if it's good I'll trade in! Who knows!
@@adrenalinejunkie3828 The name will be confusing...people will be like .....is this the 12K? Where is the 12K. If they do come out with a 130-150 FOV for the Crystal, I don't think they should call it Crystal 12K...maybe Crystal X, Crystal Pro, Crystal Elite, Crystal Wide or something.
Wireless makes standing experiences much more comfortable, especially if you're spinning around a lot. That's really the main thing that people would want wireless for. Even with a headset this size I could see myself using wireless to play things like Half-Life Alyx.
Shame it's Pimax doing this and not others. My Pimax garbage is still in my closet with the God awful Sword controllers that never ever worked. Whatever happened to being able to trade our 8K in Pimax???? Liars :( I will never ever ever buy from Pimax again.
