Great stuff, they have their uses, I have been fitting Kinetic based switches for a few years, they are great for as you say, getting out of chasing walls for 2 or intermediate switching, saves a ton of work, and the customer always prefers that lol. I do worry about longevity, support, reliance on bluetooth standards, frequency changes in future etc.. it would be a good thing if all manufacturers standardised the protocol. Cool video.
I recently worked on a property where the previous resident passed away. The house was full of this technology and it was a nightmare trying to get lights to work. I see good points and bad.
Oh please come on , in the name of Christ , why would you want light switches with a glass front and blue tooth, the world has gone totally mad completely gaga, they look nice but wait till they vale and you have to spend more money to replace them. The world has gone mad I tell you. God I hate modern technology. Great video guy’s as always 👍❤️
I notice that he app displayed PIRs. I am interested in using a pair of PIRs at either end of my drive (50m) to turn on several lights along the length and the wireless looks ideal. Can you cover this in a video please?
I like theys switches, looks pretty simple to set up, and for Gardens ideal as normally customer like I want the switch there then when it comes to fitting it different place
So the Bluetooth mode paired to the kinetic switch will only work if the phone is in range of the receiver and also switch in range of the phone? Or does it bypass the phone and then stores the switch signal at the receiver after pairing through Bluetooth? This is not clear? 🤔
The receiver / relay stores the signal so either the app connected via Bluetooth or the switch can trigger the relay. The relay is paired to the app and the switch separately.
My approach is to take all the dimmer/switching controllers back to a hub point and properly document it. Then switch freedom for the occupants to make changes (especially bedrooms as kids grow up). Minimises the oh heck if one of the vendors goes splat too.
Yes you can get outdoor PIrs - www.eltako.com/en/the-home-of-innovation/6-window-contacts-temperature-sensors-temperature-controllers-motionbrightness-sensors-and-other-sensors.html
Have fitted plenty of Quinetic and the thought always crosses my mind about the next guy that comes along to repair / replace where is he going to look for the receiver. I always place a label behind the switch buttons as to where the receiver is located but I’m sure a lot of installers won’t be so diligent. It’s a future problem in the making I’m sure.
Great video men! Question: Are the receivers always drawing a little power [e.g., the way [as is my understanding but I’m open to correction] a Hue product [e.g., a bulb in off / standby mode] is always drawing a small amount of power? Not really an issue before the energy price rises but arguably now very much a consideration! Many thanks in advance, Richard
All fantastic right up to the moment you lose your phone or have it stolen or drop it in the toilet. What happens if you think it's paired but you are actually switching the nabours lights on and off 😁🐔
Never found a product with as many features as the Kozee one. 2 channels, WiFi with app/Alexa and Google, sensor gateway built in. I have a water sensor and multi sensor (temp/humidity/ambient light/contact) connected to mine
Nice vid lads. Kinetics is the well known wireless equipment and works The BIG problem with all this app and P2P wireless switching is signing your life away…… look at the terms of the app you have used Collects email home and mobile number Addresses and they hold your info for 7 years …….. who wants all this hassle and personal data collection just to switch a light on Uk law will be changing to protect people against this type of product soon
lol I have the Kozee system and the app only asks for your email address so you can get back into your account if you forget your password, no phone numbers or address. Time to put that tin foil hat away.
@@rayroutledge5953 I think you need to look at terms and conditions on the app So if it is only asking for your email address if you forget the password who is sending you the email
