I saw Wishbone Ash Nov 14, 1973 at the Ohio Theater in Columbus, Ohio while going to school at OSU. It was an old but elegant theater and when the band came on stage they stopped and looked around at the theater and commented on what a wonderful place to play. A great band, incredible music - and done with class - kind of unusual in the early 70s when guitars were being broken up on stage. Ash and Uriah Heep were always 'different', and I mean that in the best possible way. And it looks like they have a concert this Sunday, Nov 13, 2022 in Aberdate, Wales. Rock on !
Wishbone Ash never disappoints in live performances ! Never a bad night ; true professionals in all ways ....... I was a young man when I heard their first performances & now at 70 years young , I still feel the same feelings of deep appreciation for this band ! They never took their audience for granted & it shows with decades of excellence .. Nick , NavyBlueSmoke , LST-1195
The ending song in the video is just amazing. This bands melodic approach with changes of rhythms shows the musical ingenuity that they are certainly good at. Incredible 4K clarity is an A+ for the video. SL
Andy Powell is one of the ten most influential guitarists in the world, I read somewhere, and here he is in a bar or pub or something. Not on a massive stage with thousands gawking at his brilliance. It's almost a crime on one hand but yet testament to his focus as 'a live band'. Saw them at Rock City in Nottingham years ago. Number one most influential guitarist in my mind. The depth of music beyond this goes on. Rock on, Andy. The others are pretty good too. They'd need to be.
69 and (over ) a half.... and I have tears in my eyes.... Tears for the absolute joy of a time past and the 'Now' that we are in..... Those of you in my timezone will know the absolute absolute wonder of those early days when the Ash were forming, along with many Bands that still play their stuff today and are still more lucid than I am.!!! This is great and it makes me proud that these lads were MY lads and came up from MY background and MY time. Of course, they played, I only ever dabbled..... never got the real hang of the guitar despite many many years of trying...... Maybe another reason for the lump in my throat as we go through this and many other stupendous tracks. Long may we all live..... THANKS for posting.
Nothing close to it these days. Granted, lots of talent out there, but our generation was the greatest for music. It is due to our music that created the ability for all the crap that comes out these days.
I was at this show front and center. Absolutely first rate performance. This lineup of Wishbone Ash is the tightest they've ever been. Enjoyed every minute of it.
Tones for Joan's bones! I saw these guys on their first tour in the US at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas along with the Allman Brothers! It was their first concert in Houston too. What an incredible show!!! 😎👍
I'm brazilian and I cant stop to hear Wishbone Ash. And tis music specially. The english msuic is the best of the world, I dont know how, but the rock is in their blood. I would like to be english for that.
Yeah the Rock from the British Isles, just great stuff. From Moody Blues to Led Zeppelin. I agree, I think it's in their blood or DNA. And somehow they always have lovely, full bodied, resonate, singing voices.
@@bigcoolviking Maybe from the Britons. They were there before the Saxons, the Roman's and the Norman Conquest. King Arthur was a Briton. Jethro Tull and Simple Minds both great Scottish Bands btw.
Still my favorite band since The New England LP. Got in touch with Laruie a short time ago...again after about a decade. You guys never stop being great. Love y'all dearly. Scotty Lohr
I saw them first in 1971, twice after that, and again last night in Edwardsville, Il. Muddy has now been replaced by Mark Abrahams and I must say he did not "miss a beat". I might even say he picked it up some what. What a Jewel of a band!
Great recording! Thanks for the memories from the middle row. Thanks to Dave S. I was listening to their music back in 75! Dude - Phoenix - Rock is dead - Rock lives!
I didn't know they were performing in Dallas , I was up in Denton , TX working on airplanes in between dodging those baseball size hail and tornadoes . Now I'm back on the coast of Virginia .
Andy Powell remains the only original member of the ash.....but saw these guys on the flowerpot venue in derby on 2013 and they blew everybody away just awesome
Great video work here. Saw them in ATL and JAN last year. Looking forward to seeing them again on May 6. One of my favorite bands of all time. Thank you for sharing this.
A very good band as is Martin Turner's version but the lineup of Andy Powell, Ted Turner, Martin Turner and Steve Upton are great! I wish Andy and Martin would settle their differences and reunite.
+David Sumeray doubt if it will happen, Martin bailed out, Ted bailed out ....... only Andy kept ASH going, great to come back and cash in, dont think it will happen
Poor Davids Pub! traveled from MN to see Monte Montgomery there in 2006, with a daytime stop at Laureland & the SRV gravesite...fantastic whirlwind trip! Just saw Wishbone Ash (again) in Sept! #6thSHOW
The English Allman Brothers ! Fantastic words and singing ! Twin Lead & Rythmn guitarists ! Fantastic drumming ! So good ! So true ! Nearly impossible today with the ego's of the LEGIONS mediocre music and guitar players & artists of today !
That was Awesome. I'm sure the drummer was not an original member but, are the Bass and second guitar player original? I'm an old time Argus fan. Great clip!
