Wow! What a great review! I'm re-reading this now w/a group of new witches that I'm teaching and everything you said about re-reading it and comparing the old edition to the new is soo right on! And to be honest I never really checked out the resources til now, because I was such a solitary witch for so many years, but it really is an amazing resource! I look forward to gathering next spring!
I feel like this is perfect for what I've been looking for! I love learning history and I've been wanting to know more actual history, so thank you for talking about this book.
I read this almost 30 years ago from the library, filled a small journal with notes. I guess I love facts. Lol. Anyway, I defintly want the revised edition. ♥️♥️♥️
Great resource. Shared with a friend in Study Group who is presenting this book later in April. Gratifying to know it’s still current with others too. Perfect time to stay home and read. Happy Earth 🌍 Day, 50th anniversary. Another blast from the past.
Allo! ^____^! Is Dave, Auspicious Youngin' I found this tome in a used-book store, circa 5-6 yrs agone, (Pursued it, in the spirit of homework, and Origin) And only tonight, did I discover, I have the 1986 re-print, And a signed copy, by Margot Adler, herself; (Her inscription, "Blessed Be" and a tiny pentagram) ^______^!! Bwaaa! *Bows Low!* *Snaps Fingers!* I love this one too, I was Super excited to see your review, and Yeah, I agree with your appraisal! ^___^!
I remember not finishing it when I tried in my early 20s, but I've been wanting to give it another go. I've been taking more time this year to reconnect with my roots & feel this should be part of that experience
This book has been on my radar, but I will be honest - it has intimidated me! The resource section sounds amazing and might push me over the fence towards finally purchasing it. 😀
One of the forst witch books I read. Checked it out of the library and made extensive notes. I LOVEDDDDDD it. So much information. Some say it's dry... I thought it was utterly fascinating but all of this was very new. Still an awesome book I feel like everyone should read!!
Thank you for remembering and presenting 🕊As SisStar Margot Adler's Spirit Soars ... We shall never pass this way again so, why not take the 'Recipes' into this 'new world', I ask for myself, each, all who would. Are you familiar with 'Cakes for the Queen of Heaven'Curriculum of Feminist Theology developed by Unitarian Universalist Women'( I'm a UU) Queen Adler was in community. cakesforthequeenofheaven.org Also, Her grandfather, Alfred Adler, was a noted Austrian Jewish psychotherapist, collaborator with Sigmund Freud and the founder of the school of individual psychology. ~Wikipedia Peace~JulMar
