Anne Boleyn was not housed in the Queen’s House. This was a Victorian myth. She was, in fact kept in part of the royal apartments in the south east corner of the Tower. The queen’s house was built several years after Anne’s execution.
I could have never watched an execution and remained sane. It's too bloody and ruthless to watch such a horrid sight. May be people had too strong hearts back then. Thanks for amazing video.
Quality channel!!!!!!!!!! I like the tour of castles idea/format you've recently done too. Your putting the work in. Don't change anything. The rewards will come. There's a community of subscribers that are out there sharing your videos/channels. You should collaborate with Mark Felton Productions.
I feel so sorry for Catherine Howard and Lady Jane Grey, both were so young, it must of being absolutely terrifying, king Henry was just a brutal brutal man, very interesting video, love history, great job.👍

@TheFortress I think we're on similar wavelengths. Those sentenced to death in the Tudor period drew large crowds if not done in a private manner such as Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey. It seems to have been the height of entertainment for commoners (no TV obvs 🤷♀️). Families of victims of murderers sentenced to death often have the option to witness the execution. Some do, some don't. I do wonder if for some reason public executions were reinstated in the UK or US what kind of crowds they'd draw. Food for thought, I reckon. Thanks for a thought-provoking and highly informative video. Cheers! Edit: spelling
Atrocities are still carried out around the world. Gay men have been thrown from the tops of buildings … individuals buried in the ground to their shoulders and stoned … beheadings .. Evil is alive and well.
I miss the days when you could leave an execution on the hill and pop into The Tiger Tavern, on the other side of the road from the main gate house 1504 - 2002
8:10 Queen Mary I was rightful queen by law, by the terms of her father's Will, and by the opinion of the large majority of her subjects. The "Bloody Mary deposed Jane Gray as Queen" account is simply the repetition of 400 year old propaganda. Jane, an unfortunate young woman, was used in an attempt to block Mary's lawful accession to the throne by a powerful court clique that had gained significant power during the reign of the protestant boy-king Edward VI, and who rightly feared losing this power under the catholic Mary. However this may be, the clique, together with Jane whom they had at least to some extent pressured, had committed high treason by any measure of the law as it stood in Tudor times. By some accounts Mary would have shown Jane clemency, but was counselled that the almost successful attempt to usurp her throne had been too dangerous for clemency to be granted.
Imagine being a marooned sailor on a desert island who is rescued and brought back to England, going along the Thames and seeing heads on pikes and sighing and saying At last! Civilization!
One of my great grandfathers Walter, 1st Baron Hungerford of Heytesbury Hungerford was too. The big chungus probably got at least one ancestor of everyone here. 😂
Maybe not as distressing in those brutal times, they were harder folk used to butchering their own meat that they'd probably raised themselves. Although I'm very much in favour of capital punishment I wouldn't want to witness a beheading. Excellent content, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Public executions were standing room only with many thousands attending. Such ghoulish displays were not a show of justice in days when many of the condemned were convicted after confessions extracted by torture. The main purpose was to spread fear and compel obedience.
That axe looks like it could not have been made any harder to use accurately if they had tried. It's got no balance and the handle is straight and cylindrical.
A better world is coming! 😀😀 A world without wars, crime, violence, and corrupt rulers, Jehovahs Kingdom ruled by Christ Jesus will accomplish this and restore paradise to the earth! Matt 6:9,10
🤦♂️So should Auschwitz be torn down to be forgotten in history? We already have Holocaust deniers less than a 100 years after the fact. Just because history isn't pretty, rainbow & roses, which 98.9% of history is NOT, doesn't mean we should sweep it under the rug all because of a few persons feelings.🙄
