Huge tip with the crafting- chests can be placed adjacent to crafting stations, and the crafting stations will then absorb items from the chests when you craft without them in your inventory, it’s suuuper handy. I’ve made a system where a lot of my bullet crafting components sit by the loading bench, different elemental research items go inbetween two specific research benches, plants next to the cauldron and potion stand, and so forth, it makes the item management like 10x easier especially since there is quick stacking for easy sorting

One of the few games I'm actually looking forward to. And yeah, the item management in the demo quickly turned into a carpet of chests. But the developers promised to improve at full release, afaik.

Have tons of different items/materials can be good...but not when you're given limited space to put them and have to manage it all. The single best mod for Terraria is magic storage. Everything stored in 1 spot, Searchable, filterable, can craft from the same spot, just fantastic. This should be the default for games...

@@andrewanderson1413 To be fair, over my entire run i managed to get by with 4 chests (it would have been 3 if the chests wouldn`t have ended at the iron chests from The Frozen Wastes). A bit of old-school manual inventory management helps quite a lot.

What I quite like is that certain materials only drop when destroying things with certain damage types. If you aren't using fire, you won't really get your inventory filled up with charcoal but if you do use it it is very easy to get. This makes it so that the things that you need are going to be more common than the things you don't need

Something id like to note is that even though it has controller support, it can actually be a lot easier to play with mouse and keyboard, with menu navigation being much faster and additional ease in aiming at a specific target quickly compared to trying to always line up the aim line

Looks like Don't Starve and Enter the Gungeon had a love baby. Being as I enjoyed both of those titles... I guess I should give this a try.

"Menu simulator" really is the nail on the head, these crafty survival games are struggling to innovate much in this department... It's really the same question every time, "Is the rest of the game compelling / fun enough for me to tolerate this item management bs?" The whole "craft from storage" really needs to become a staple for the genre imo -- nothing "hardcore" about taking inventory like it's your job.

Game actually released today on steam and you can get the pre-purchase bonus if you buy it today still, sad my local stores didn't have steam cards so I could top off for this. Looking forward to trying this out again.

very very lite. You keep all upgrades you make, all bullets you craft in your guns. A "run" is timed and the world resets every time with some slight differences but really its mostly the same. Roguelike really wouldnt be toward the top of descriptors imo.

Time limits are among the worst mechanics. Unless you're making an actual racing game, don't use them, IMO.

Yeah these games should come with a REALLY EASY mode for those just wanting to go against the time limit restrictions and make the game easy, as that’s the only thing time limits bring to these kind of games is a challenge. Some people don’t like a challenge in their video games, I get that, fun comes in different shapes and sizes for everyone. Wouldn’t recommend Ravens-watch because of the time limit but would 100% recommend Outer wilds, now this game did the time limit thing right😍

I'm not normally a huge fan of "timers" in games, but I actually liked it in WwaG! You can still keep exploring after the timer hits zero. I didn't talk about it much in the review, but there are also lots of ways to extend the timer, too =)

It's been a real treat watching some of these 'surprise' games come along - everything from Rogue Legacy 2 to Streets of Rogue or even Hades have been wicked.
