The video presented here is about eight and one-half minutes in length. It begins during the final seconds of The CBS Late Movie. Immediately after comes Devotions, a pre-recorded sermonette delivered by United Methodist minister Rev. Jack Pickering. The opening and closing ID slide looks rather dated (possibly from the 1960s?) and has numerous specks in it.. Following the mini-sermon comes the Night Owl News, presented on-camera by a newsman who does not bother to identify himself. Coming quickly after this is the WJHL-TV sign-off announcement, rendered by Claude Wood. The video displays a nearby lighted highway at late-evening with most of the sign-off's text scrolling upward. The "Aim High America" SSB film of the U.S. Air Force comes right after the sign-off. The SSB is abruptly cut short toward the end by a split-second of color bars, then the power is shut off.
This video appeared on RU-vid previously, but had disappeared. SignOffGuy has now reinstated it. Enjoy!

I have to agree, the announcer for the Devotions, Nightoul News and Signoff, is Claude Wood. Never heard of those TV Translators, but I can see where they'd come in handy up that-a-way.

This was between August 29-30 of 1984, since that’s when Geraldine Ferraro was in Nashville. Also, Ferraro died of pneumonia and blood cancer in 2011.

Looks like a very short night owl news and graphics from the 80's look simple back then.

It's all Claude Wood. The V/O during the sermonette, the news update, and the sign-off.

The guy presenting the news sounds like the guy doing the signoff. Might they both be Claude Wood?
