If so, here's what you need to know -- The William King Memorial Flute Band are from the Fountain Estate on the West Bank of the River Foyle in Londonderry. They have been marching and playing together since 1973 and have become one of the most well known, respected and successful flute bands in the whole of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This Channel showcases the band during parades, competition and throughout its vast history.

I remember the old Fountain from years ago , Kings shop at the top of Wapping lane, the beautiful Wendy used to work there, I used to go up to the wee bakery on Wapping lane from Tilley’s factory, they had the best sausage rolls and buns, unfortunately once the Troubles started it was out of bounds. Great to see all our “Troubles” behind us and everyone enjoying their culture as they should .

Can’t remember the geography of the Fountain from my early years in Derry, but I think the fact a Nationalist city accepts marching bands like this is progress - or am I being naive?
