For anyone planning on picking up a 959, Be sure to buy a bottle of 80wt shock oil. The one thing with the A959's where the shocks never had shock oil in them when you get them. Every 959 i received all had empty shocks, but toss in some 80wt or even 100wt shock oil, if ur gonna do some heavy bashing, and u have a solid damper, no more bouncy. Many people assumed they were friction shocks, as i even did at first, but luckily i noticed a loose cap and twisted it. So many have tossed the shocks out not knowing they are oil shocks.
Amazing comparison! Yesterday I've ordered the 979-B because I found him with a great discount, but after your videos, I've decided to order the 144001 too 😁
Shen RC Yeah, looks much better. Could be s little afraid of the alloy towers and chassis bending, but the shocks, turnbuckles and tires are such a huge step in the right direction compared to the A959 🙂 Thanks a lot for watching, Steve.
Wow! Great job! I’m not familiar and haven’t seen a WL Toys product yet, but after watching this, I feel that has changed, thanks for putting this int a better perspective for me.👍
Thanks a lot for watching, my friend. Yeah I think both WLToys and HBX has some amazing rigs (compared to the price). And they seem to get better and better each year 🙂
Really like this one. Hope the alloy will hold up. But the shocks, tires and adjustable turnbuckles are the things I missed with the A959. Lot’s of videos out there where it looks like it’s doing good both off road and on road 🙂
The difference is unbelievable 😱 I would of payed a £100 pounds for the New one, dont think there is nothing I would change on it, I Love it so much, really carnt wait to get mine. Fantastic comparison video, I really enjoyed every minute 👍😁👍
Yes! Real big differences. The best is the shocks. Really missed some real poil filled shocks on the A959. And the turnbuckles. No more insane toe-out :-) Thanks a lot, my good friend.
My son’s a959a came with a 1100mah 2s lipo instead of that lithium ion I saw on yours. Unfortunately there was a problem driving it right out of the box because it had too much toe out. The plastic tie rods seemed to be the wrong size. I was able to get some metal adjustable turnbuckles to fix it and now the only problem is the plastic shocks sometimes come apart or pop off. I found a full set of metal oil filled shocks for under $8.
Nice, Ace Report. Strange with the LiPo. And yeah, the toe-in/upper arms and the shocks are the really performance-killers on these. The 144001 is good out of the box.
They do handle differently so it could be fun trying them both out. But in terms of handling and performance the 144001 is superior, not just due to the size.
Thank you for your useful reviews! I am deciding between the a959-a and the 144001. What do you think lasts more in terms of battery? Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching, Peppe! I haven't really measured it. But theoretically the 550 motor in the 144001 likes to drink batteries fast, compared to the 390 motor in the A959. But better get the car you want, and then some more batteries.
Good work as always. I’ve just got my A979B yesterday. It came with the same USB charger as 144001 you show in this video. I think 144001 is better spend than A979B. There are more metal parts and the shocks are really working now. Can this one go straight? However, I’m not regretting buying A979B since I want something smaller to play in my backyard. Unfortunately, as you said many times it is overpowering.
Yeah, this one performs better. Some has to do with the size, but real shocks definitely also helps. It goes very straight, and there are even then buckles stock so you can increase the toe-in in the front and make it go really straight.
Nordic RC Visions Good to hear that. I ordered shocks and buckles hoping to it would go straight. Besides I didn’t like the look of toe out at the front.
do they have a good brushless system that works well in a959? also what about better shocks and some adjustable front end parts as well as metal upgrades...if so i think a959 car would be fun to work on...it has potencial to smoke a lot of cars in that class imo...
Yeah, I think the A959-B is faster. Rated to 70 kph (in reality only 60 kph) and the new one is rated to 60 kph (so probably does around 50 kph). Maybe the gear ratio of the two isn’t that different, but it’s just a lot heavier, both with the size but also all that aluminium. Think that is why they mounted it with the 550 motor, for the extra torque.
Cam row drone Ahh, the ring gear. Yeah. But hard (at least for me) to determine the gear ratio. So much depends on it (wheel/tire size, pinion, spur, internal gearing). The 144001 weighs a ton compared to the A959, so that will have a great impact on acceleration and top speed too, despite the gear ratio.
Hello .. I have Wltoys a979 with 540 motor installed .. I want to attach 144001 esc to this. Does my a979 stock controller fit.? I am very curious .. So Esc 144001, Control a979 works without problem.? I'm looking forward to your answer.
My son has got the A959b which he loves and which I have to repair. He received his new 144001 yesterday and within 10min the front and rear diffs shredded the teeth off there gears. Not a good start.
@@NordicRC ok thanks sir.. I just wanna ask another question that is what's the difference between brushed and brushless motors? Does it makes car even faster or it makes less noise and quality is much better?
Yup I've voted the 144001 the best budget rc elease of 2019, much more quality control on this one. I love my a959b, but, all it does it break on me. The 144001 has given me a few awesome, fun runs at serious speeds, and it takes a pretty good beating. Just watch out for those wheel hubs they're quite brittle. I broke mine within a couple of days and I'm still waiting for the parts!! Other than that, hope WL Toys makes all the parts we will need for the 144001. Nice vid bro!!👍💯
Yeah, it certainly looks very nice, and seen a lot of great reviews. What I really like is the shocks and the turnbuckles compared to the A959. Looking forward trying it out :-) Uhh, thanks for the tip. I will see what happens :-) Thanks a lot for watching, my friend.
maybe they will start selling these in rolling chassis soon so we can add our own electronic and up grades...both those cars should have gyro's installed.
Entiendo entonces, que aunque en todas las páginas de compra china, anuncien el 144001 a 60 km/h y su versión anterior a 70 km/h, esto no sería real, no? Pienso comprarlo en breve 😊
Nice Video, have you tried the radio that comes with the a959 with the 144001 will it bind? or with another wltoys car that has the same radio as the 144001? I have read that the radio that comes with the a959 has a better potentiometer and provides more precise control of the steering? have you tried binding it to other cars like the 144001?
Yeah, it's just a 2S, both of them. But the battery connectors are different (JST and T-Plugs) on some of the models, but an easy soldering job (or just a adaptor plug).
I have an A959b which is crude compared to this thing - non adjustable plastic linkages, plastic frame, actually quite fragile. I just paid $89 for the buggy reviewed here, and feel like I am stealing.
Hi Rick. I don’t personally think that a plastic chassis or plastic shock towers are bad (light and flexible/durable if made of the right plastic). But I agree, the adjustable turn buckles and the real working oil filled shocks are a great plus, when it comes to handling. Two of the things I really missed with the A959. The 144001 behaves so much different. But I gotta say I like them both. But yes, compared with the prices, I would go with the 144001 too.
These are fast. But utter rubbish as you will be forever repairing it.. Even after only one run. Even the so called alloy upgrades are as bad as the plastic ones. It's a big no from me 🙄
I’ve had seven of the A9*9. Never a problem with any of them (until I started messing with the gears and such on one of them myself). So, for the price, I think, they are extremely durable. Just my personal opinion.
I def WOULDN'T say utter RUBBISH, if you're used to wrenching on Traxxass and Losi's all day, then YES, these are CRAP. You're talking about a 300 plus dollar difference, DUH!! OF COURSE, the quality ISN'T as GOOD as the NAME brand rigs, COMMON sense. But for the BROKE folk like me, they work just fine thank you. 👍💯
Yeah, everything needs to be compared to the price. And for a under 100$ you really got a lot of value for the money with these ones. Again, only my personal opinion.
