The announcer in this video (Tom Stewart) is still the staff announcer for WNET/Thirteen today. My best guess is that he has been with the station for at least 40 years, if not longer.
I also grew up in Bergen County, NJ and this cable system was mine. I find it interesting that they had TBS on channel 18 and not channel 17 like a lot of cable systems did back then.
I lived in Northern NJ. This was my cable system. It is now known as Altice USA.Channel 14 is now i24 news. I don’t know what channel HBO is now. . Channel 21 is now WLIW. Disney channel is now channel 31. Channel 22 is now WNYE. I don’t know what channel Cinemax is now. Channel 17 is WFUT. The future MSG Sportsnet is now on channel 72. Channel 19 is now WRNN. I don’t know what channel The Movie Channel is now. TBS (which surprisingly was on channel 18 and not channel 17 like it was for most of the USA (remember the channel used channel 17 in its branding)). It is now on channel 39. Channel 18 is now HSN. WSBK was deleted from my system in 1988 due to the Syndex Exclusivity Rule. Channel 26 is now Fox News. Of course, I am referring to standard definition feeds.
@@richardwojcicki5751 Lucky. In my part of NJ, our cable company carried the local channels as is, with test pattern, snow, and all when they signed off.
