Woke developers are DESTROYING gaming 

Days Gone has such a good theme song. And my COD skills are terrible. That is all.

I was a journalist reporting on this as far back as 2014. They ran my name through the mud and worked extra hard for 5 years to cancel me until I quit from the stress. Glad to see mainstream folks waking up to this.

This is so inclusive that 99% of society is excluded. Good job.

it’s literally crazy how such a small percentage of people in this country get so much attention and power to change things.

I stayed away from Days Gone for so long even though I purchased it the morning it was released, mainly due to all the negative reviews from critics. I started playing it about a week ago, and it has single-handedly been one of the best gaming experiences I've had in recent memory. There's a reason it has a 93% Very Positive rating out of 50,000 reviews on Steam - it's actually a very good game.

Let's be honest, these people don't even play games, they're just looking for their next target

I'm not white, but not once in my years of gaming have I thought "Why does my character not have my skin color?" A character doesn't need to have my skin color to relate and empathize to them.

As you get older... you start to realize that nothing will top the games of old... and replaying them endlessly is more enjoyable than over 95% of new games on their first playthrough.

I've been working as game programmer for 5-6 years now. Most of these issues come from publisher. They always try to add stuff to a game that does not make sense for maximum profit and to please everyone in hope to reach wider audience and thus more profit. It never works. Most of them never have played a game!

I'm Asian and don't care how I'm represented. Just how well the character fits the story

The gaming industry is being destroyed by not just the woke, but also monetisation. The industry is a shadow of what it was when I was growing up.

I love how they warn us beforehand by labelling the movie/show/game as "diverse" or "modern adaptation" or even "for modern audience". So we can skip them alltogether. Thanks for that!

Everytime I see a movie or a game, especially remakes being described as "for a modern audience" it makes me shiver...

I used to work at Riot games and would say the problem is very multifaceted. We used to be a pretty normal happy company until gaming journalists (specifically Kotaku) did multiple exposes on the 'sexism' inside our culture. Now, I'm a woman and Kotaku actually set up a call with me to talk about my experience, and I told them it was great working there and felt it was more meritocratic than anywhere else I'd been before Of course they didn't include that and continued to speak to current and past employees to find whatever they could to fit their narrative Now what company WOULDN'T have disgruntled employees, or instances of racism/sexism when you spoke individually and privately to past employees?? But this was used as a basis to organize a massive culture shift , and you can bet this impacted the game design decisions as well (which are usually made specifically by game designers btw, not developers)

So, they made sure to protect players against misogyny but did not show the same concern for misandry. Typical hypocrisy on display.

It is so bizarre what has happened to professional reviews. I used to ignore audience scores and go straight to professional movie critics for an accurate take on a movie. Now it is literally the polar opposite.

I'm a 56 year old female who as been playing video games since Pong. So I think I have a right as an elder of the genre to say that most new games suck and I replay all the great oldies with gratitude and glee. Days Gone is the last game I purchased recently that was worth playing and replaying again and again..good taste girl! Thanks for bringing this up, and it's nice to see by the comments that I'm not alone in watching woke ruin all that is good.

the spideman flag thing was disgusting. they went really hard against that guy, banning him from everywhere. even the big guy from nexus made a very "fuck off and leave if you dont like it" statement (he also made sure no one could reply to his post). and all he did was change the region of the game, but sony never took any flak for making their own game prideless for other regions of the world

Stop buying Activision, EA, Blizzard, and any other games that do this. Vote with your wallet.

The Call of duty one is what really gets me. How do you make a military game with 0 American flags but 22 pride flags? And when you do have an American flag it's a destroyed one. These developers aren't hiding their agenda at all.

This is why the retro scene is so much more appealing. No drm, no gambling simulators disguised as video games and no woke crap.

I love Days Gone for everything. Atmosphere, graphics, hordes, bikes, gameplay mechanics, that @ss of the protagonist's girlfriend... On the main subject though: it's laughable how some marginal groups(with money and power) are calling us normies "marginal groups" nowadays as soon as we start talking.

Working in a software development company, I can tell that developers are the last people that can decide about anything they implement. Decisions like that are made by Product Managers, Project Managers, Marketing Managers or just the C-Level. And you are facing these kind of decisions in every software development company. Not just games. When starting the argument about the reasoning, you usually get responses like 'The product is selling anyways', 'It does not impact the functionality' or 'We need to catch up with competition'. Truth behind it is usually that these decisions are pushed by upper management people that are detached from the user base. Yes, they expect no change in sales. But they expect better partnership deals and more visibility. And that is why they prefer micro management decisions over user base driven decisions.

I’m a brown guy from a developing country, and I have a personal issue with the critics who trashed Days Gone. Me and my little nephew (I’m 31 and my nephew is 10) played and bonded over Days Gone like no other activity! Watching him bash in the heads of kid zombies with a baseball bat was the best thing ever! 😂😅 We even started calling each other Deak and Boozer. Not once did we think that these people (on the screen) were different from us. It was a game and we enjoyed it!

The funniest backfire I'd seen when it comes to woke devs in recent times was when someone made a "mod" in the Miles Morales Spider-Man game to replace the non-chevron Pride flag with an American flag... and it turns out that "mod" was just code from the Saudi version of the game.

The punchline about the Spider-Man mod is that all the modder did was change the default region to the Middle East.

I am so happy to find people actively speaking out against the woke mind virus in every corner of my hobbies and entertainment. They want to push that agenda everywhere; we should push back everywhere.

Football, basketball, comics, Marvel movies, (new) Star Wars anything, news, beer, clothing, and now...gaming. Everything is woke and going broke. I particularly love when the streaming services show a black white couple/gay couple/binary blah blah person that serves absolutely no purpose and in no way relates to the story.

Regarding the Spiderman PC flag replacement mod, it doesn't actually replace anything. The mod changes the localization from US to RUS. Meaning that a Russian version of the game is more American than the American one.

I am not white, but I never cared about what color my game character is all I cared about if the game was good and that’s it… but at 39 years old, I don’t like the modern era of gaming. I could care less about call of duty or anything else that comes out these days I sold my gaming consoles years ago, and I don’t play video games anymore

"Can I just not enjoy anything?" That hit surprisingly hard. I've noticed the trend with video games, and I am unfortunately getting de-hyped for some games before their release because of the woke garbage injected.

I have always played games as a means to get away from real world drama. I can enter another world full of its own lore. But now THE MESSAGE is heavily corrupting video games and making them so hard to enjoy. Just like with movies.

We need to support Japanese gaming companies and get them to make their versions of COD. Their culture generally doesn't give a shit about woke pandering. For example their anime is hated by lots of western reviewers because in Japan they worship the female form.

I am gay, and not once in my life I was missing a pride flag in a game. I want to have a smooth gameplay, I want to see a story, character development arc, I want to be immersed in the world that is different from what I live in. I want something different! If I wanted pride, I can always go to a pride parade. There's always one happening somewhere.

As a conservative game developer working in the Aussie game industry, I can tell you I feel _extremely_ out of place. Over even the few times I have been able to attend Aus's national game development conference I have watched it descend further into wokeness. ~50% of the entire AU industry is based in Melbourne, and if you know Melbourne it probably doesn't surprise you to hear of this situation. There is an awards ceremony every year known as the Australian Game Developer Awards, and an ever increasing proportion of the games which are recognised by those awards are inevitably some form of insufferably woke trash. As for the AAA scene, this is just my inkling, but a LOT of the big companies either have been completely bought or are majority owned by Chinese companies now. And we know how that goes re: CCP influence. I see a lot of the prevalence of the woke stuff in AAA titles as intentional cultural sabotage feeding into the western games market via the Chinese company owners. I'd like to know if all those 22 pride flags are available in the Chinese version of the game 🤔

I am a 57 yr old female gamer who got into gaming to have something in common/talk about with my autistic son. Even though Gaming was a way for my son and I to spend time together, I frequently found it a therapeutic way to release stress and prevent overload (for myself and son). I don't want or need wokism to cause problems/anxiety/confusion or any other sort of BS in my life. Because of this (and a few other issues) I thoroughly vet every game before we think about buying it. I loose the fun of a blind play through, but I rather loose that then deal with other repercussions of wokeness.

I'm a video game collector, I HATE where the industry is going, so that's why at any given moment I see that there are no good new games left, I've got a massive library of games that I can fall back on for the rest of time, similar to how I hardly watch new movies anymore.

Time for an indie revolution. Every AAA studio had to start small, lets give indies our focus and you will find passion and creativity are not only alive, they're thriving in those spheres. Amplify indie devs

The goal is simple to remove any enjoyment from anything and leave everyone constantly at each other's throats.

The Elder Scrolls series does a masterful job of mixing social/political issues without all the wokeness. For example, Skyrim has racism in it, but also give the player a lot of reasons why it exists. It offers the user to pick a side. I love how it immerses the player and offers insight on your own moral compass. Its really makes you think about your choices you're making.

One good thing is that these woke games and the studios that support and make them are driving me to check out of gaming as a whole. I'm 35 so it's pushing me towards bettering myself physically and mentally. I still game but it's only a handful of games and they tend to be older games as well.

Currently playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night again after a 25 year hiatus, and it's still as awesome as I remember! Studios need to get back to making games like this, and leave "The Message" out of our fantasy worlds. ✌🏾

Days gone was a criminally underrated game. It does have issues and you definitely need to persevere, but if you do, it's a worthwhile experience. I wish it had a sequel.

Funny thing about the automated censorship in voicechat or chat is that it only censors words (or most of the time) in english, if you swear in spanish (or I think any other language than english) it doesn't even recognize the words lmao

Thanks Sydney, you saved me some money! I was planning on buying Call of Duty Modern warfare 2, then I saw this video of how badly they woked it up and showing how Anti-Amercian the game is! Now I will never buy a Call of Duty game ever again!

I loveeee that you addressed this, it’s been such a problem it’s crazy what passes and games are suffering because of it, us gamers just want to have fun with a good story. Sometimes when you try to bring it up as a woman and even a man like my bf has tried in past you are downplayed and labeled negatively sometimes these developers have gone as far as to ban people that are respectful but disagree and bring up these concerns. It definitely feels like they are forcing us to conform to things sometimes, instead of create new cool diverse characters with interesting backgrounds, they want to force ideologies or identities and make that the only different thing and act as if it’s interesting, I just want to have fun, and to each their own, just don’t force it on me. I could go on about this for hours honestly, a lot of good stories have come out recently luckily, usually indie studios, but it’s definitely diamond in the rough situation lately with so many games lacking but trying so hard to publicly be inclusive and make that their whole thing. What’s more of a let down is when they only include certain groups of people in their studio to be diverse that don’t know the franchise well or don’t listen to lifelong supporters or concerns and penalize them then end up losing fanbase. Then us gamers are stuck watching their favorite games or even cool concept games go down the drain. It definitely feels they don’t listen or care for fans and even hate previous installments.

I lover video games. When I was severely depressed they helped me. If I could mange to get out of bed I always tried games and especially a game called "devil daggers" managed to keep my attention away from bad thoughts

With regards to the mod in the spiderman game, all the mod did was switch the localization setting for the game from USA to the Middle East. It didn't actually replace anything in the game, just made the game think you were playing it in places that hate pride.
