He is beautiful!! I have an Anatolian Shepherd he is big as well, and we did our research as well and made sure to socialism him. They are magnificent dogs
the coat actually protects them from heat as well! I learned as much when my cat continued to go up against our radiators during the heatwave here in britain last year
My neighbour has a Caucasian Mountain dog named Bruno that weighs 160 pounds. The area is rural,so we had problems with coyotes.Since Bruno’s arrival, that problem no longer is an issue.
Burglar looks at the dog and thinks, well this owner gets it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 If you are gonna have a dog watch your house, make sure its a big one lol. Imagine seeing that in the window, next house 🤣
I think if you encounter a dog like that as a burglar you immediately think about another kind of gig. That is if you live to tell. Maxximus seems like a docile nice dog but you don't know what happens when he sees you at night without his owner. My neighbours dog is a big baby when his owner is with him. Been living next to him for 4 years but if i walk into his garden without the owner present he'll still bite the crap out of me

@power European wolves are small up to 50 kg, Russian up to 80-90 kg, there are also larger sizes. They have a stronger bite force than any dog, they are more agile and stronger.
@power perhaps the kangal's bite is a little stronger, but certainly not 3 times, the bite force cannot be measured with 100% accuracy. I know all these breeds of dogs, not one of them has no chance against the big, russian gray wolf. Even the farmers speak of one big wolf, you need it like a mine. 2-3 dogs (Alabai) and this is the strongest dog on the planet.
@@toniva6700 Yeah it could! They could even outgrow Timber Wolves at 220lbs! A Bite force of over 500lbs and way stronger and more buff than a Wolf! It could easily take any Wolf there is!
@@toniva6700 I know but look at these dogs. If they are trained to be more aggressive then they are, it could easily take down any Wolf! They are also heavier than most Wolves! My thoughts exactly. That's why I don't have a goldfish. These things are bloodthirsty killers. Could finish you off when you aren't watching yourself in an instant. Or a hamster. Cute? More like a tiny, cruel, fluffy monster. These things kill people! Can't believe anyone would seriously want to keep them! And last month a dwarf bunny ate somebody's kid! Again! Ripped it's head clean off and swolled the rest whole... These feral beasts are the most dangerous and vicious of them all! A breed from Caerbannog is known to leave nothing but the bones of their victims once they are finished with them...
Mr bowhunter You are absolutely spot on. These dogs are not so easy to train and socialize. He has Maximus around strangers and little children and other dogs and Maximus is extremely well behaved. His owner is very dedicated and did a fantastic job with Maximus.
I think the owner is one of the few licensed trainers and breeders in the UK, if not the only one, for the Caucasian Ovcharka. So he must have the capital, hes a businessman. Hes extremely knowledgeable as well.
@@SmugLlama1234 they dont weigh anywhere near 400lbs , Maximus considered one of the largest of the breed is 80 kilos, which is 176lbs. The largest weighed was around 220lbs at best .
5:33 - "If you saw him would you find him intimidating?" Well, that depends a lot on whether he has a leash, and his owner nearby isn't it?! Imagine jogging at a park and suddenly running into Maximus for the 1st time ever in your life - with no other human within 500 meters. You and Maximus, eye-to-eye, only 10 meters apart, and you see he has no leash. :) I doubt you will say - "Oh so cute! I will hug this Big cuddly bear!!!!"
@Messup7654 no our homes are built differently they are made to trap in heat, We have insulation inside the walls the roof and sometimes in the flooring. We only get warm weather for a month in the summer the rest of the year is cold and wet so Homes don't have much use for AC, our avarge temp is around 18C(64F) you will only find it in some offices and stores but even then not all of them.
I guess his owner cuddles has made him one gentle giant and calm around men, but still when he sense something off, i'm sure he'll quickly change his temper.. that's one beautiful dog u have there sir..
This is so with my dog Zeus. He's a rottie/pitbull/cane corso mix. I'm the cuddliest person ever, so he is so affection and cuddly and lovey (even all my cats are, and ppl become more so when I'm around lol) - but when something is off, like you said, he's a WHOLE other kind of dog.

This owner clearly knows how to train a large dog. This breed untrained can easily badly injure or kill people. He has obviously socialised and trained this dog from a young age and is an example to others who are thinking of owning this type of powerful breed. Lovely animal 👌👍
@@Frazsier-lx1gr we don’t have bears or wolves but we do have feral youths armed with knives, machetes and XL Bully dogs. Maybe people own dogs like these to protect themselves as our police and politicians seem unable or unwilling to.
Hi. Get ready for the ultimate dog! I pray that the breeder you are getting him from will be willing and able to guide you along the way. If I did not have that when I got my first one, things would have been bad (and I was an experienced dog trainer at the time). There is no book or internet research that can prepare you for this breed! I have had the privilege of owning three of these majestic Marvel's. And to say that I love this breed is a gross understatement! If there is anything you need to know, please do not hesitate to ask me. Take care and may The God of Abraham Issac and Jacob bless you.
Just don't get one unless you're very experienced and know absolutely everything about the breed and what you need to do to get it properly trained. It's incredibly taxing. You need to live in a good place preferably house with big lawn etc...
I live in Georgia where this guys are bred , I had one of these , I called him batura, pretty normal name in our country , well when I was young my parents took our Caucasian shepherd to the mountains in the monastery where there are sheeps. After a year I hear some news about my dog and I was so surprised what happened to him , so the story is this that while my dog was patrolling the territory two wolves came out and started to attack the sheep. This giant of a dog started fighting them off and actually won killing one of them and wounding the other one which eventually bled to death. For some time I couldn't actually believe that batura did it but the owner actually came down to us and again said the same thing the guy that told me the story, these guys are beasts which can go head on against wolves
@@nataliecohen9658 well that happened about 5 or 6 years ago , I'm sure batura is resting well now , I sometimes hate myself for not going to see him even once

My father has a rescue, white caucasian shepherd (called bear) weighing in at 82kgs and he's not quite done growing yet. He was imported from Russia then abandoned at a kennel by a moron owner who didn't want such a large dog anymore, my father made a delivery to the kennel and met him then decided to rescue him after owning Leonbergers before and already having an american and German shepherd. Do NOT get one of these dogs if you live in a small space or have no previous experience, they are absolute units and in the wrong hands, lethal. They are very intelligent dogs and need exercise and mental stimulation. Despite their background, he's a gentle giant (it's always how they are raised) and happily lets my 2 year old nephew clamber all over him and plays football with my 6 year old nephew, always aware of his size. The only time he's not cuddly is people entering my fathers home, rightly so, if invited in like Maximus, he'll happily let you in but will be watching!
Awesome that your dad rescued bear, I'm sure he's amazing. I've been around Leonberger dogs, the first time I saw one I had no idea what it was and asked the owner wth is this giant dog?? Haha
If you've owned dogs and have an understanding of the body language and instincts. then you should be good getting one of these after reading up on the breed. They have some good books on how to raise, teach, and care for them

When I was a little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old, I rode my bike all over God's ceation. I would ride, literally, miles from home. Alone. I always had "a thing with dogs". True to this day. Anyway, riding my bike to a corner store about 3 or 4 miles from home, I saw a GIANT dog chained on a porch. This dog was big. I mean BIG! So I stopped. Walked up the steps of this porch like I owned it. This GIANT, old dog saw me, and just wagged his tail weakly. We were immediate friends. I stopped by to spend time with him. I thought he was lonely. Never even saw who lived there. I know now, 55 years later, he was an Ovcharka. He was so calm and kind. He wasn't even my dog. I never even knew his name. Yet I still think of him. Dogs are like that.
u r right they are kind and loyal, ovacharka in Russian means shepherd, these shepherds are pure Georgian breed, stolen by Russians during soviet union, using them as prison guards, it is Georgian shepherd, we all have them n love them so much

@A.A.Ron Davis our dog ate guts and leftovers.... he loved dry meat. Don't know why but he did. Aaaaaand bones! Mostly cow bones. He just cracked them open with pure bite force. He saw puppys growing and dying from old age.... lived for two dog generations
People saying that it doesnt make them scared even a lil bit are delusional. NEVER approach a dog on the street like all those people did, with your hand in its face or even worse behind its head, especially a big boi guard dog like that! Have some manners, read a book on dog psychology, save yourself a world of pain.
I agree with that...was trying to pet a big dog like him...he stood silent until i raised my hand to pet him and jumped to bite my hand...luckily i saved my hand..and learnt a lesson

Regardless of its size the jaw is basically the same size with the same bite force of any other shepherd. In reality its not any more deadly than any other dog the difference is it has way better body for taking damage. Overall dogs don't scare me unless in packs. The AKC says they can survive happily in most environments outside of extremely hot sun pounding ones. They just need some shade to get under every now and then
@gary grammat True information. My grandfather used to have 6 of them. Me and my cousins riding them like horses 😂. But this breed isnt for everyone. They need serious amount of food, exercise and a flock to guard. Nobody should kept those breeds in warm. Our farmers were always travelling. To mountains in summer and to steppes in winter to make sure flock and dogs doesnt get cold
You know what got to me, when that little girl in the pink jacket came to pet him, he just sat nicely and gently allowed the girl to pet him. Around kids, he seemed extremly calm. That's when I could tell he's a protector:)
Here in georgia, we pet them as homeguard dogs. they're quite common. in old centuries we used them as sheep flock guards. For people who dont know why this dogs have crop ears, it's because when they get *spiked Necklace* spikes will damage their ears So to preven that ears are crop from very young age. Spiked necklaces are used for against wolve attacks. You know wolfs like to attack as swarm and bite on neck.
@@xismxist I believe that three of these dogs may actually attack a bear and give some damage. But this specific one by himself, I really don't think so.

Met one on the street on Mansfield (small town in Nottingham shire, UK) recently. Never saw one in UK before and just had to stop and get into a chat. Was a huge silly pup, playful and friendly, opposite to those in Russia. Would never occur me to approach them. They usually lethal :D But in UK even Caucasian shepherds seem to become like ice-cream :)
I had 3 Caucasian shepherds throughout my life, one of them is still alive and I can tell you, they are the best dogs you could ever get. Not pretentious (this depends on personality too), loyal, well behaved and lovely overall❤️
We have a farm in the uk we had 2 Caucasians that we did everything research told us to do. They were absolutely fantastic with livestock ,they ran free with stock until about being 18 months old where unfortunately we had to retire them and bring them in the house as pets due to the risk of people being where they shouldn't be. Absolutely not the dogs fault but you've got to understand 2 dogs weighing 12 stone + doing what there bread to do isn't great around unknown people. They were fantastic with known people but ours weren't 100% safe around unfamiliar people that shouldn't be there ,not the dogs fault but getting a nip of a colly is totally diffrent from these ..... lovely dogs don't regret having them but won't get another. We had 2 dog trainers that both said socialising is what was required and preceeded in training . Long story short in our experience its irrelevant how socialised they are if there around livestock they protect from everything including people. Luckily no harm was done. Can't reinforce how lovely these 2 dogs were with family and livestock but unless your in the middle of no where then please just understand what your getting into. Oh and by the way ours didn't take kindly to other breeds even though they were just pups when introduced. Both sadly are passed away now RIP oz and milly x
:) The Soviet dog handler Alexander Mazover brought the Georgian shepherd to Russia, of course, the Bolsheviks renamed and called the Caucasian Shepherd, it is clear why and since then everyone together repeats the Directive of the Bolsheviks. There is no Caucasian shepherd, in the Caucasus Mazover found 4 types of sheperds: Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani and Dagestan; he chose the Georgian , so - the Georgian shepherd

My experience with this breed was in my dad’s neighborhood after he died. We’d walk the MS neighborhood we’d always be accompanied by a Caucasian who liked to walk with us. Always walked out in front of us, but always looked backed to make sure we were still there. This wasn’t even our dog. We didn’t even know who owned the dog, but he watched us like a military trained dog, which we found out he wasn’t. Yes, the Georgian Shepherd belongs to Georgia only! But this is a hybrid dog- Soviets took the Georgian Shepherd, Armenian Gampr, and Circassian dog from the Ottomans.
