Heck yeah! Felidae I think is the most graphic but it still is a good piece, if you look past the homophobic lines in it. But it is still a good story though and animation!
Like you, I’m also have a pet, and just watching this made me think about them dying. It like every time I dog dies in some movie or literature, I end up crying, because it makes me think of my own dog dying, and I can’t help but feel upset. However, you are right. Sometimes bad things happen in the world, and it feels like all you can do is sit back and do nothing. Like the author, I am an animal lover, and I can’t stand the thought of innocent animals getting hurt/killed because scientists are too scared to try stuff on humans first. However, things can change, if people have the courage to raise their voice.
I love animals but if wanted to I could make everyone and myself cry by writing a heart breaking story to the point where you may think I hate animals but in reality you don't know me I love animals
There's a story called 'The Lady, or The Tiger?' which I think has a lot of parallel with The Plague Dogs; it told the story of a king who discovered his daughter was secretly dating a commoner, so he set up a trial for the commoner where he'd be taken to a crowded coliseum with two tents and he'd have to choose one. One tent had a beautiful woman who he'd be married to immediately and allowed to live, the other was a hungry tiger who would kill the man as soon as he saw them. The princess knew which tent was which and gestured for the man to pick the one on the right... We never learn what was in the tent, but the outcome is the same; the princess loses her lover, so she presumably chose the least terrible outcome for her own sake. The ending of the Plague Dogs is similar. It's made clear by the Tod that the dogs themselves were never good at surviving on their own; so if there is no island then the dogs will keep swimming until they drown, but if there was an island then the dogs will only survive for as long as their limited survival skills will let them. Either way, their struggles and pains will be over soon, it's just the least terrible outcome we choose for our own sake.
I have this movie on DVD, i always felt so bad for the 2 Dogs. They were mostly misunderstood, on the wrong place at the wrong time etc. I always hoped they had reached the island they were swimming to but they probably drowned (realistically speaking). The story definitely has many messages and hope definitely can be one of them. Now onto actually watching your video. Edit: Great video, i personally have been an activist almost all my life. My current fight isn't so much a fight against animal testing (of course i want the bad to end for good) but a fight to keep Zoos, Aquaria etc since sadly there are activists who want them gone and with them their amazing orgs and conservation work. Its really sad that those activists exist and are seen as heroes while the real heroes like Richard Addams as you mentioned and the people who have rescued & rehabilitated so many animals and even saved species from extinction including successful reintroductions to the wild are made out to be and viewed as villains. I hope that the truth and good will prevail
The book was written as an intentional propaganda piece against animal experimentation. I was part of a group that helped revive this film. For a long time, the only cut that was available was the "American version" that was softened to get it a G rating, although I still think is was mischaracterized. It was re-released sometime in the early 2000's (naughts I guess) in its complete form.
@@richardwicks4190 I do get that and there are animal experimantations i oppose but not all since we do need animal research to improve veterinary care and husbandry. Experimenting on animals to see what certain for humans meant products do was definitely a bad path for research to go to. The research done to treat cataracts and health issues in animals though is the right path to take and thankfully that is being done in laboratories that are mostly owned by Zoos etc. And it is always sad when a movie must be kids friendly just because its animated, sometimes it isn't meant for little kids USA
@@ShadowLightMewEndlessOceanMew My feelings on animal experimentation isn't set in stone. Much of it is done to VERIFY that that the product won't cause harm. Everything ultimately gets tested, even if it means that a human is the test subject. My objection is there are many tests that yield no meaningful results. For example Fauci is being criticized for research on beagles - what are the tests being conducted for? There's been no explanation.
life is not as black and white as some like to pretend. sometimes "bad" is needed to sucker punch us into a better path though it may be the bad ending for one story it could spark the path for a better ending in another story. deep down we know bad must come to much good and we get antsy with thoughts of this is to good to be true, the world needs to be a fixer upper so we can find meaning in being part of the change not for perfect but for even a little bit better.
0_o.......well Silver your art style changed. Then again it has been a LONG time since I was here, I think since 2016 maybe?, so I'm not surprised really.
You can thank that to the very talented MaiKatyStar and Daniibirb! Katy helped me out by drawing the vectors and Danii helped me out by drawing the backgrounds. Both are incredibly talented and I would HIGHLY suggest going to both for great works!
Hay good work as always do you think you may ever cover leafy a hen in the wild? I would recommend if you can find it the subed uncut Korean version as it has the proper end inline with the book.
I have seen water ship down but never seen this movie. I might give it a go.....though I too am a conservationist and an animal lover as well especially da puppers.
In some cases yes. In some cases no. Some animal testing animals are kept in better care, but they are still tested on and die painful deaths. A gut wrenching but honest piece recently was called "Save ralph" and it shows a rabbits life as an experiment.
well its hard to say this but when I was a little child we saw our dog Snoopy die in front of us that was some time in 2012 and is 2019 our other dog Rusty fell really ill and he to died in front of us sad times and last year I lost my personal dog Demon boy life dose suck doesn't it?
