hey man... that may have been an editing mistake, but i thought it worked really well. how the music began to play as you were wrapping up the monologue, and then faded out in perfect collaborated timing with the visuals as the screen turned to black. it was very artistic. if you hadn't said anything i would have thought you did it on purpose. you should seriously use that format from now on. the only thing i would slightly adjust is to make the title cards at the end appear on the screen a little sooner.
I probably wouldn't have bought the switch if it were not for Skyrim. Now that I have Doom and Wolfenstein. I'm excited to see what other mature games will be brought over.
I held off on the PS4 version entirely because I wanted to get this on Switch and I was completely justified. Nintendo need to make Panic Button a 1st party company for handling 3rd party ports.
Harry Warburg well not really as that implies they’d be making games directly. 1st party just means they would opportune exclusively under the Nintendo banner. 2nd party would be an external company who opportune exclusively for a company. (such as Rare do for M$)
@The SNES Manand Walboro Actually first party is Nintendo. Third party are other companies that make software or accessories for a game system. Second party is you the customers who buy and use the device or possibly create homebrew software and mods for a system.
The game is just 7-8 months old and people are complaining about the price? It’s cheaper on PS4 and Xbox One because it didn’t sell well there. Panic Button also doesn’t work for free. They deserve to be paid for the amazing job they’re doing with these current gen ports. Great review, RGT!
Brittney Taylor You know panic button was already paid before the games even released on other platforms. Bethesda is the one charging $60 for the switch version.
Hey, if you want to be gouged because you need this version of every game on your Switch, have at it. But don't try and shame people and tell them this 8 month old game with inferior visuals and performance needs to be priced higher cause "Panic Button" needs that green, lol. Gtfo... that's Nintendo and Bethesda's job, not ours. Same Nintendo fanboy bs.
MOHAMED Well yes and no. On the one hand, it won't throw around as many post processing effects and GPU accelerated particles and the geometric complexity won't be as high. However, being targeted at Switch exclusively means it will feature better image quality, better performance, and ultimately a more even keeled presentation. This game features immensely detailed geometry and a pretty wide use of GPU accelerated particles but that comes at the cost of a reduced renderering resolution for many effects and sharply reduced texture quality and some other effects being disabled. This is because the underlying game is built for stronger hardware and scaling back unevenly is much more feasible than adjusting every single aspect. Metroid will not have this issue so many areas will look outright better. Textures can be sharper, things like screenspace reflections can be put in play, effects can be handled more evenly, etc. So the overall result will ultimately be more visually consistent and appealing.
I’m thinking of buying this game because it looks like it’s going to be like Doom and I love blood and gore games. I’m okay with single player games since I don’t even have anyone to play with.
Dude, I really love watching your videos for the Nintendo Switch games. I only own the Switch and your reviews are well balanced in their coverage for players who own multiple gaming consoles v/s those who only own the Switch. All the best to you and looking forward to more!
Good review! I am a multiplatform owner and I'm buying this for the Switch. I never played it and I like that I can get into it and play wherever I want 👍
Looks like an excellent port job. I can't justify paying full price since I already played plus it is cheaper elsewhere, but for anyone that hasn't played yet and doesn't mind paying more it looks like a worthwhile version.
I've been waiting for this game almost a year to come out on Switch! I could've already finished it on PC but I wanted to keep it to Switch because the flawless portabiliy. You guys should really play this!
Dude the on/off aspect is awesome! I love being right in the middle of an action pack scene, have to go, turn off Switch without saving. Do whatever for hours. Then come back to a dark screen, press on and boom back at it no loading, no buffering, no updates, just back where I was. I fucking love that! Helps me actually finish some of these great games
I just bought this, never played it before - ITS AMAZING. Can’t believe switch can handle this... so happy. It still all comes down to gameplay and this game has it. Motion controls are great. Def recommend.
Izzy Nobre Hm, maybe it was the lack of story (drive)? Its definitely an arcadey game. Wolf is much more story and narrative driven, so you might like it more.
Im kinda coming from the same place. I wanna buy it on the Switch, but I bought it on the Xbox One last year, with the Season Pass for less than what the Switch version costs me. I loved Wolfenstein 2 last year, and had it not been for Breath of the Wild, it would have been my game of the year. Such a good game, and deep down the rabbit hole story. Both Doom and Wolfenstein take me back to my childhood, and love how they have been made to fit in this Generation.
Does it come with the DLC? It'll drop in my mail tomorrow I can't wait! (I'm a multiplatform user and I rarely play portably BUT I chose the Switch version to vote with my wallet as they say, to show the devs there is demand for stuff like this on Switch)
I only have a Gamestop locally and it's 10 bux more expensive, plus I have to take the train to even get there which also costs money (like 7,5 bux back and forth). Soooo, nah. I bought it from my favorite online store instead.
Real1Gaming more power to you but be careful how we become more dependent on online shopping causing retailers to close. I do both but I do more retail shopping because I like to feel what I buy plus you get out more and get more access I honestly think relying online only encourages laziness my opinion
Got this for Christmas on the Switch. Love it! This is a quality port and plays really well! Since this review panic button also released some patches to make it sharper and smoother. Overall, brilliant game that switch owners should pick up. Support the triple A's on the switch and the switch will get more.
Here's the situation at my local Smyths; Crash is well stocked and the guy who served me confirmed that there were more Switch pre-orders than for Xbox (same situation at Amazon). He was also able to tell me about his hands-on experience with PS4 version of Crash (his opinion was it was buggy and didn't enjoy that much on PS4). There are zero copies of Wolf 2 and Moto GP 18. Staff didn't even know it's out today. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze has been sold-out for weeks now. Bayonetta 2 is also sold-out, but, on re-order.
"Dynamic scaling" is technically called level of detail, known as LOD in production terms which is a technique that increases the polygon resolution in stages the closer the camera is to the 3D model being looked at and reduces the polygons the further away.
Pre-ordered this for my older brother (coming in later today) and I purchased Revelations 2 for him last night. While we own a PS4, we're leaning towards using our Switches more (our younger brother mainly plays PS4). It's pretty cool to see these types of games being released and I hope more titles will come in the near future. DOOM was a great port, so I believe this one will be too.
Brilliant review video RGT 85. Wolfenstein 2 sounds like it's just as good as the Doom port if not better and I do own the PS4 versions of Wolfenstein 2 and Doom, so I'll be double dipping with this game like I did with Doom :-D.
I'm picking up my copy tomorrow, so hopefully it's good. I pre-ordered it, so I'm hoping it's worth the money. I got it for $10 less than normal at Wal-Mart though, so it wasn't the full $60. I loved Doom on the switch and this is going to be my first time playing this game, so if there's any difference in the graphics I'm not going to know anyway. But even if I hate it, it's worth it to me just to support Bethesda and companies like them, so they know that it's worth bringing games to the switch.
Really looking forward to picking this game up tomorrow at my local Game store (UK). Been waiting for this on the Switch. Had Doom for my PS4 but really want a FPS on my Switch and I’ve never played this before. Also, totally funny how you played the retro in-game game! They probably just put that in your review copy!
I'm getting it on Switch tomorrow as I pre-ordered the game on it. I have PS4 and Xbox One but I play my Switch on my hour break at work almost everyday so it will be perfect for me to get on Switch. I still have less than a year left on the outgoing gamers club program at Best Buy so I'm definitely making the most of it. Can't wait to finally play this game!!
Imagine if they came out with a more powerful switch that had the tegra x2 instead of x1, this new switch in portable mode would be similar to the original switch in docked mode in terms of graphics and gameplay and the docked mode on the new switch would be the same as a base model ps4. That would be amazing
Wolfenstein by far has one of my favorite single player stories of all time. The series is actually phenomenal. It definitely can take a LONG time to beat, especially if you’re trying to get the achievements for not setting off alarms. Now I want to play through it all again. 🤩
Can't wait to get this game. Waiting on a gift card to arrive before I can pick it up. I played and loved Doom on switch and can't wait to dive into Wolfenstein. I sadly only have a switch to game on so I'm happy to get and play these games. So I will show support where support is shown.
I'm undecided about Doom or Wolfenstein on the switch. Eventually I'll get both, but which one first? Still waiting for Metroid Prime 4 or a Trilogy Port...
Gameplay is there, story is there and the feeling of playing a triple AAA game is there. I think Panic Button and Bethesda more than proved that whenever you want, is possible on the Switch and I wish other companies, and I think they will, see that, and bring their games too. I have an Xone but I so much want the switch to be victorious and well succeeded in the field of games variety, not sales hence it already is.
Oh my days the length of this game is not even close to God of War.. You clearly have not completed God Of War (probs because it is not a Switch game) the length of this game is short and that's that..
I am a pc gamer and i do care about the graphic a lot. But when it comes to the switch i really don't mind loosing graphics especially knowing this hardcore graphic game its on a small tablet(Nintendo switch) as long as i can play it on the go and its the full game. ill buy it 100%.
I've just got this and first i was dissapointed because it looked so pixelated, then i read about the update to 1.2 and things got better. Of course, i wasn't expecting to run and look like a ps4/xbox but i had hopes that i would run better. Don't get me wrong, Panic button does a fantastic job when porting games, and it's amazing that this games runs stable on a Nintendo switch.
well idk about it changing your mind about the FPS genre as a whole. But its a great game with an AMAZING single player mode. None of that in your face action you see in CoD. The story here is more contained and paced nicely.
I haven't seriously gotten into any 1st person shooters since Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and the first two Medal of Honors. I don't give a damn about multiplayer death matches in these games as I suck at them and just don't enjoy them. I always played those games because I enjoyed the single player experience. I particularly liked the aesthetic of Medal of Honor because it was more realistic and I was able to kill Nazi's. The fact that gyro aiming is an option is also really enticing to me, as I don't have to unlearn any dual analogue habits because I never learned those habits in the first place. This game seems like it would be right up my alley and maybe for the first time nearly two decades I might actually be interested in a 1st person shooter. I'm definitely going to check this game out. Thanks for the review!
im very 50/50 on the game I love the shooting and weapons you get but I often feel like the level design in some of the more hectic sections wasn't as tight as the last two games. also the story has a slight identity crisis in my opinion with some of its more memorable moments in the second half. that being said I might just grab it for switch I think this game on the game would be fun.....just gonna skip cutscenes cause of the switches battery.
Well, they also helped with Rocket League for Nintendo Switch. One of the few games on the console that seems to push the limits a bit there too. First version was decent, but they've improved with each one. Now, it's really playable.
Awesome review. Like Doom, I never played Wolfenstein II on other consoles. I enjoyed Doom on the switch and will most likely get Wolfenstein as well after watching the review.
Nice. We'll probably end up buying our kids a Switch before I get myself an Xbox One or ps4. And this game is one of the reasons I wanted to buy Xb1 or ps4. Nice review!
Played it on xbox & loved it. Completly underrated & under played. Graphics are always an exception for The switch, expect it. The only problem with the switch version is the price, if you can buy the collectors edition for less on a mainline console why buy a dumbed down version? Take the price down $20 or $30 and I'd buy this again. Love this series
Releasing games close to Battlefield or COD is simply murder. This game on my Scorpio is visually and artistically fantastic...a must have for gamers with any taste.
Thank you for mentioning the fact that unless you only own a switch this version is basically superfluous/redundant and full retail to boot. Plus the other 2 console versions were/are at the Redbox, which is how I basically beat the game for free.
Picking up both Wolf 2 and Crash on my way home from work today. I enjoyed Wolfenstein the New Order quite a bit on PC. When I heard that Wolfenstein 2 was coming to Switch? I actually skipped the PC version in favor of the switch version. Doom was fantastic on Switch so I am expecting this one to be good.
I love how all the last shot of your intro looks like you're exhausted from cigarettes. Lol. Looks like a montage of you being exhausted and smoking and then the last image of you is breathing in and out like you can't exhale. Lol. Great videos by the way, I subscribed.
Wolfenstein 2 is $34 at Walmart, $40 at Best Buy (additional 20% off with GCU), $30 on Amazon, $40 new at Gamestop ($27 used) on the other platforms. I’m all for supporting Switch third party, but owning a PS4 Pro and Xbox One S it’s kind of hard to support a $60 port that isn’t as good as the other versions with the only plus side being” portability.” Especially since I hear the game is very short.
I played wilfestien on switch just because of its handheld mode and I am yet to play borderland series , crysis, bioshock and outerworlds anything which is not available on switch than only I go to PS4 gaming. And I have only completed horizen zero dawn and call of duty on PS4 and bayonata 3 on switch.
I originally owned this on the PS4 And recently just bought a switch and I can say it's definitely worth buying and it is actually on sale right now for about 5$, graphics are amazing just as good as ps4 which I was pretty surprised about Considering the switch is just A handheld council even when it's plugged into the TV it's just dark it's still a handheld it's just plugged into its charging mechanism that connects to the TV via HDMI, even more surprising there a very games the basic switch runs at higher fps than next gen ps4 or Xbox, The only downside to the nintendo switch is all of the Nintendo games are pretty expensive even years after release the sell in the digital Nintendo store for 60$, indie titles like hollow knight are still 15$ games like wolfenstien and doom are what you'll really get deal on, the doom bundle which included doom, doom 2, doom 3, and doom 2016 was only 10$ doom eternal was 15 with dlc I believe and I bought alot of the other games I already owned of ps4 but wanted to play handheld for pretty cheap but to sweeten the deal you gain Nintendo tokens I believe they're called for every dollar spent in the digital Nintendo store so eventually you could buy anything you wanted with those credits earned from spending cash, I believe you earn the equivalent of 1$ credit for every 10$ spent
Hey 8BIT Eric This is how you review a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is why both your pals Wood and Shawn have heavily surpassed you in terms of Subs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand how can there be more blurriness in the undocked mode when the game is being displayed on a 5" or 6" screen as opposed to docked mode where a TV set screen is 2 to 4 ft in size ?
Ready to double dip on this and Crash tomorrow. I still find it amazing that we can play such console quality levels on the go. Now just to wait for the day nintendo will finally unveil a port of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the switch!
Wolfenstein and Doom look amazing and to be fair nobody buys the Nintendo switch for the best graphics so when you buy a game you expect the graphics to not be as good as let's say the PS4
I almost bought the ps4 version after hearing that the physical switch release is not a complete physical version. Even though that's pretty annoying, I felt it was important to support this series and these sorts of games coming to switch--so since i had a gift card which covered half the cost, i bought this "physical" for Switch today. There's like several supply and demand issues with these half physical, half digital releases--like what am i communicating to the companies when i buy, not only the game but also the production practices?
I think right now, the Switch needs to up and get newer FPS games coming out. Older FPS games are fun. I mean if they could get Fallout 4 onto the Switch, I'd get it, but since a lot of us have the other bigger consoles and most likely played this on those and could get them cheaper used, it's hard to justify getting a game we've played before on a newer console despite the portability of it.
