I actually wanted to get into breeding for competitive play. Until I found out that the whole community hacks. I have a 6IV ditto that took me over a week to get (got extreme bad luck I think I was up to 1500 ditto before I got it) in Let's go. I have so many close 5IV dittos it was crazy. But it is awesome to have good Pokemon that are legit. It is sad that a whole side of competitive play isn't even explored because people hack. Then the community that just defend. Like I understood why people cheated in the past(still don't condone but understood at least) But now with the ease of use it is just stupid. Wolfey breeding video showed me everything I need to know. Like he understood the basics but didn't mention any of the nuance of breeding.

There is noneed for 6 IV Ditto anymore with mints. But for sure its nice to have.

@@blubbobbelo I needed the 6IV ditto for pokemon like Rotom and other gender-less pokemon. I needed the 6IV so it makes it easier. I know that bottle caps and mints and other things. But I enjoy the breeding. And it helps with starting a breeding pair. I can get up to 6IV a lot faster and turns what most of the time is a 4 hour or 5 hour to get to the breeding pair to an hour or less.

I dont like the amount of time it takes to create competitive pokemon. I would much prefer to see the pros be able to spend their time honing their actual battling skills since that is what the interesting part to watch is as well. However that does not excuse cheating... Rules exist to keep everyone on a level playing field so unless hacking in pokemon becomes legal no one should be allowed to do it.

I like how they say FPS and fighting games are more "accessible" compared to Pokémon. Literally anyone can get good at Pokémon, it's just a knowledge/memorization/resource management game. Fighting/FPS games have a much higher barrier for entry because you actually need fast reflexes and good coordination. And if they think the grind for Pokémon is bad, they have clearly never done any sort of aim training for an FPS or practiced neutral for a fighting game.

psst buddy the world has had this argument a lot in various abstract forms but consider these particulars. What you might attribute to "you not having fast enough reflexes" is actually you not having the knowledge/memorization to predict certain strings of fighting game actions ahead of time. You may also be managing your resources in said fighting game poorly and are being forced into making guess that merely LOOK like the only path forward is reaction time because you aren't comparing the value of things. All competitive non-trivial games are hard by definition and the game you think is trivial in comparison probably isn't and you're just deep into this thing and don't see how far you've come. If certain aspects of the pokemon grind are a waste of time because they are overly laborious and not what makes competitive pokemon truly great then THATS the point they are making.

@@Wiipodicus Pokémon is a turn-based game. In VGC you get 45 seconds each turn. This is enough time to both contemplate strategy and select moves. No physical ability, response time, or quick thinking is needed AT ALL. The same is not true for fighting games, to insinuate such is incredibly disingenuous.

I've played and enjoyed this franchise since day 1 in 1996. I've never bothered with even attempting competitive because the cheating has been a thing for years. I never use wonder trade anymore because i dont want modified pokemon. Even worse is VGC allows it to occur with no consequences. And considering how easy it is to acquire competitive pokemon in raids, breeding, and events, it really doesn't take a lot of time to build competitive teams. This coming from someone who works 40+ hours a week, raising three children under the age of 2, and married to someone who doesn't enjoy the series. If I can find time, anyone can.

With all the Modern conveniences, even minimal time investments into actually playing the game grants plenty of Resources That by default roll over into getting more resources even easier Heck outside of the First few soft seasons, once Home connections are up, the Team building just Snowballs (In ways that other games dont have acces to)

Even if you believe that acquiring pokemon illegitimately is wrong, I don't think that really disqualifies Wolfe or anybody from being a skilled pokemon player. You or I could go on pokemon showdown right now and make a VGC team and not do as well as Wolfe or many other pokemon pros would, simply because they are better teambuilders and players. You've said that hacking pokemon gives an "unfair advantage" but especially with hyper training, I would argue that the amount of times a 0 IV, attack or speed, has mattered, could really be counted on two hands. I firmly believe that hacking pokemon gives, at the very least, a miniscule advantage that would have very little bearing on the overall run of the tournament. If you can find a time where Wolfe's pokemon survived a foul play or outsped in trick room because of the IVs it would really contribute to your argument a lot more.

It is an advantage because you can respond to sudden meta changes and still be competitive. The thing is that if only wolfe stopped cheating he would be out of a career because everyone else (who cheat) could build teams quickly, add an amoongus with a different spread in a matter of hours whereas his team would be locked in and he wouldn’t have time to change it. I still believe he’s a very good pokemon battler, but it’s about being a good pokemon player. I think we should probably be trying to encourage him to put a stop to this as he has the influence and the power to change other people’s minds, instead of calling for him ti be banned… The meta would be much slower to shift if nobody was able to cheat and I reckon that would make it healthier overall

My twin sister is a professional athlete going for the Olympics this year and she has to spend insane amounts of money for her training. It's a commitment that you make the choice to pursue, I can't understand complaining about having to play the game

I can also confirm the chess comparison I have spent well over 5 figures on just chess books let alone 100's (for well over a decade)of hours of deliberate practice and yeah I also paid for databases the software alone is usually 300 bucks for something decent not 2 mention the computer needed (usually a 1000 bucks min for something that is again decent but not ideal) not 2 mention the travel fees and the coach + analysis team usually consisting of other top players I spent a ton of money on chess wayyyy more the I ever have in pokemon and I've played since gen 1 (>.>)>

@@Verlisify thx yeah chess can only be learned threw experience there are no short cuts also I agree with concept of time genning mons etc)being a huge advantage if I could learn all my openings for example without actually studying it would give me an Insane advantage it would literally destroy chess as it would make the game unplayable competitively speaking so I understand completely where ur issue with competitive pokemon comes from chess would be unplayable if ppl do what there doing in pokemon \(~.~)/

If these people bred and trained their pokemon as much as they complained about how 'inaccessible' the game is and how much they hate it, they'd have a full team or two ready to go. My first year in college I borrowed my friend's 2DS, played X, and then that holiday season got my own 3DS and Sun. From then up to now (while in college and having a job), I legitimately bred every pokemon I could, bottle capped the legendaries, and have all 1025 (plus regional variants) in a competitively viable state. Extremely over the top I admit, but that's passion and love for the game (plus I'm a sucker for collectathon games). Now if they only had a battle facility or battle replays so I could use them...

I mean, why should I waste my time getting fit and following a strict diet? This has nothing to do with being skilled at playing soccer. Imagine having to waste a lot of money and time just to be able to have the stamina, resistence and strenght to run and do kicks. Soccer it's such a inaccessible sport, It's pay to win. I just want to score goals and play with a team. I work 60 hours a week, earn a small amount of money and I have a family. I don't have time and money to get an athlete physique, that's why I use steroids. But I know all the strategies and I'm able to score goals and intercept kicks. So there is no problem.... right?

back then, i always thought that if only other respectable youtubers research about this things, then we might be able to save competitive pokemon, but now i kinda gave up cause even when they try to research about it, the majority of competitive pokemon influencers, professionals and respected individuals in the community that other youtubers might get in-touch with when they are making their research are in-cahoots with each other, so nothing would really change, their flawed opinion would always be at the top regardless. the only other way is for someone unknown to make a viral video (millions of views) on youtube about it, and the rest of other youtubers would capitalize on the viral topic. (cause verlis kept getting attacked by dislike bot hence his vids might not get viral status anytime soon).

As someone who recently got into pokemon and was randomly recommended this video, I have a few questions. From what I have seen of your other videos it seems that the vast majority of people don't seem to care about the cheating problem going on in competitive and The Pokemon Company doesn't seem to be enforcing the rules they have set up, you seem to be in the vast minority of people bothered by it, which makes me wonder if it's really an issue?

Im mind boggled that people still cant accept the statement "cheating is cheating". Its like trying to argue with children. I would push back on the TCG proxy issue. Proxies are cheating in most tournaments and theres no argument for using them when its against the rules. However, TCG proxies exist soley because its a financial issue not a skill issue. There is no way to obtain the cards other than buying them. So i understand and sympathize with the sentiment that proxies should be tournament legal. Obtaining 4 copies of an $80 card doesnt require skill or time. Just your money.
