U know we always have that one out of pocket friend who says something they shouldn't. That's what tangle was at that critial moment.

Yeah, Tangle might need to think more before she speaks for a bit. She'll probably apolgize when they have a moment later in the issue, but if looks could kill... Whisper has been through her backstory, the events of the Zombot arc, and her dangerous encounter with Surge, just to have Tangle come and poke her wounds like this. Good thing she's a patient character with a soft voice or she'd probably yell Tangle's head off. XD

Tangle's probably my favorite part of the issue, even though I totally side with Whisper on the team name. Her ungodly mistake was, knowing Tangle, borne of her habit of thinking out loud and thinking being a Diamond Cutter again would make Whisper happy. Very in character. Moreover, I loved the moment where Tangle snaps at Whisper for wanting to scout solo. Sure, it's what Whisper's always done, but after her fight with Surge, Tangle doesn't want to risk losing Whisper. She doesn't want her to face grievous harm alone. It's also really nice to actually see not just dialogue from Lanolin, but her fighting skill, too. Her bell Wispon is so versatile; I love it!

Tangle most certainly meant well, but ouch. Not the best call. We still love her to bits though. Then again I can’t speak for everyone. This art is also amazing. Especially the shading.

Guess Lanolin is an official major character now. Yeah I think Tangle meant well as was trying to pay tribute to them for Whisper. But as we know, Tangle is kind of a knucklehead and she forgets that not everyone can recover from traumatic events as quickly as she can.

Okay I'm going to say.....what Tangle said isn't that bad because she didn't mean it in any harmful way. I get why Whisper would be upset but tangle was just trying to be supportive. Tangle even made effort to talk it out so when Tangle yelled at whisper it was amazing ( only because whisper did a literal 180 like she turned around so fast and she went from cool to nervous with the sweat marks being visible. ) They just need to talk to each other and understand what each other are going through, more on whisper side than Tangle's.

First time seeing lanlion play a big role in the IDW sonic comic Wolfie. Hope we see her in more future roles!😉👍

I loved this issue. I hope that Whisper doesn't stay angry at Tangle. I know that Tangle didn't mean to get her angry and it's one of those moments that Tangle did not think about her choice of wording. Because Whisper is traumatized after everything. I hope that Whisper would forgive Tangle and I hope Tangle would say sorry. Because used to a best friends and if not something more. I ship Tangle x Whisper. And I wish they can make up. I do like Sonic and Lanolin friendship and dynamic. As Sonic is more carefree and a bit reckless and Lanolin is more careful and responsible. But make good friends. I'm not sure what happen to Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin but I hope they escape. But yeah... Whisper needs therapy and also shipping Tangle x Whisper.

Not gonna lie, it's a bit insensitive for Tangle to go with the team name "The Diamond Cutters." Finally, Lanolin officially states her name. I don't think people will call her "sheep girl" anymore. Lanolin's device is a freaking Game Boy! :D

Wow, amazing! I had a feeling that the portal thing would come back? Now Sonic is trapped?!

A little something I noticed about the writing was that Sonic seems a bit more impatient or maybe just a little childish, at least more than the first couple IDW arcs. He kind of feels like a mix of his movie and game interpretations. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Sonic during the metal virus wouldn’t have just rushed in with no plan.

Is it just me or does Lanaloin feels a lot like sally in terms of how no nonsense she is. She even has a high position in the restoration (which in spirit are the freedom fighters)

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Lanolin and her wisp in action. if she, Whisper, and Tangle stick together as a three person team going forward she would make a good leader for it. I just Hope Tangle and Whisper will get a chance to talk more about the team name.

If they ever make another trio team Sonic type game (racing or Heroes), these three would likely be great together.

Still, I'm glad Sonic is starting to take things more seriously. I actually consider him NOT wanting to leave so they return with back up to be him taking things seriously. It shows that Sonic knows the true gravity of the threat.

Still holding out for Lanolin getting some sort of unexpected development for this story 🤞

I know a lot of people hope things get better between Tangle and Whisper soon, but I honestly would rather it take a while. Tangle needs to learn that there is such a thing as consequences. When friendships are mended despite hope seeming lost for them, those bonds aren't only reforged; but they are galvanized as well.

So cool to see Lanolin become a bigger part of the cast. I love all the original IDW characters. And god, Tangle, you are full of heart and dumb of ass. Gotta give your GF more consideration, c'mon.

I, like a lot of others, am wondering how Lanolin's character will play out due to the suspicious expressions from her in previous comics. It seems a bit too, I don't know, simple(?) to just frame it as "she's just serious" now. Honestly, with the colours and the badniks, Eggperial City strikes me as a Classic Sonic version of Eggmanland as a level. Just less twistedly festive. I predict you'll give this 8/10. Edit: The adventure continues...

I’m glad we have a new team

Hey now let’s be fair. Tangle was definitely wrong for that, but everyone has a moment where they say something they probably shouldn’t have said. When they meant well but overlooked the implications of what they say.

The reason why Whisper was acting that way when Tangle brought up The Diamond Cutters was because her former team was called that and they all died because of Mimic's actions.

This issue is a great setup for what comes next, and any story involving Whisper and Tangle together again is going to gain traction. Lanolin is already proving to be a great new addition to the comics in general. Yeeeaaahhh....Tangle flubbed and fumbled hard on just blurting out Diamond Cutters right off the bat for the team name without even taking Whisper's consideration into account, you can't just do that. Of course she meant well, Whisper's her girl, but seriously, should've had a private and group meeting on that before just saying it. I can already tell as this story continues we'll certainly get Whisper and Tangle to work out this obvious gripe between them, they'll be rocky at first but shape up later on as this arc / story progresses, its not often they let friendships tank unless we're talking about Fiona Fox and her betrayal back in the Archie Sonic days. Plus if you pay close attention, Whisper, Tangle and Lanolin all have black, white, and yellow portrayed in their color schemes, of course Lanolin has green pants, but they are kinda color coordinated....like a team. I think that was by design or by choice of the writers. And that ending panel art of Whisper, Tangle and Lanolin standing and sitting on the industrial pipes, the art feels very Final Fantasy 7 and Kingdom Hearts-ish. Which is simply fantastic, play some Dearly Beloved or FF7's main theme while just looking at it, you'll feel it and it'll likely bring a tear to your eye. I like how the new girl Lanoline said she amire Sonic but as soon she sees what kind person he is she pretty much ( oh wow he one those types) kinda show's didn't get to know him but it too early judge how she sees sonic right now she just sees him and Triangle being too reckless welcome to the Team Sonic Lanoline will see this allot and more drama between Trangle and Whipers uh oh

I'm sure Tangle will make it up somehow. Honestly, Lanolin is the one I might end up taking issue with, not because she made a terrible mistake, but because of her character. I know she was just introduced, and I will give her a chance, but I just find her to be boring. Whisper could have easily chastised Sonic and Tangle for acting too brashly (without speaking, even). Also, I thought we had enough head-strong characters already, like Tails or Espio. Let the chameleon take a break from detective work, and let him join Sonic on this mission. She needs more potential and more context. That's just my opinion. Maybe she'll be the best new character yet, I just hope they didn't make her an official character just for fanservice. I'm willing to wait and see.

man tangle made a mess i know she did not want to hurt whisper but she kinda did and lanolin reason for joining the restoration feels made up (she could be lying) is it me or the new diamond cutters might have a traitor in them like the old diamond cutters had this is what i think about this but i could be wrong about it
