there was many "isekai" in the past it's just most was not well know these days, fushigi yugi ( inside a book), magicknight rayearth (summoned from tokyo tower, inuyasha ( fall in a well), etc... there is even 2 in the tenchi muyo universe that is mostly not that universe with Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure and isekai no seikichi monogatari ( even if this last is not that old (2009)!

I am relatively new to anime in general (I only got into it last year) and normally don't watch same-sex themed stuff but after seeing clips of this show on RU-vid and watching other anime like Free and Yuru Yuri I have come to actually like these shows. Compared to western media, Japan actually takes time to make these characters interesting, relatable and fun to watch, even by non-LGB people like me i.e. they are not just solely defined by their sexuality and I seriously like that. Sadly, this show is not on Crunchy but I will binge it later this month.

If i remember they become a couple and even adopt a kid together. They are one of fav couples because they fall in love with each other over time and help each other grow to be better people. They don't take the others crap when they do something stupid or messed up, not some love at first sight all, you can do no wrong, I can only think of is you anime chiche crap., (PS: Wolfram does become a little bit of a Yuri simp but in a cute tsundere way.)

To be fair it's not exactly one-sided as Wolfram only fell for him a while after being engaged, with Yuuri reciprocating some time after too :) if anything it would be more one-sided on Wolfram's part since he never had interest in either men or women at first while Yuuri is canonically gay (bi?) with internalized homophobia
