Some parents even drive their children to school, when they live 100yds from the school, I have seen it done and witnessed the distance, all to avoid walking.
Kids today are too pampered , let them make there own way to school with their friends and they will learn about life a lot quicker..... Is this Bangladesh.....!!!
They need to have a 2 mile exclusion zone implemented and any pupils living in that area whose parents are filmed and caught dropping their kids off unless disabled should be issued with a section 58 order....
Strange Fruit A parent ?? Been there done that and got the gold badges! Now at 49yrs old and a grand parent who takes his 4yr old grandson to school and guess what ?............ ''I FUCKING STILL WALK'' Parents are just too bone idle these days and see it all the time! Love it when I see several parents start up their cars, run them up until warm, then get the kid/s in the car and drive the quarter of a mile, only for them unable to park, then ''parent parking rage'' kicks in, then the cycle starts again as the que to get home. Why stress ? Take the stress out of the system and walk and get a little exercise at the same time. I see many parents take their kids to school and at our school their is one woman who lives no more than 200 metres from school but she feels the need to take her kids to school in her bloody Merc' and most of the time she parks on the yellow zig-zags and doesn't give a shit, opening the rear drivers-side door, then drops the kids off..into passing traffic, the mother shouts at passing vehicles who drive by her too close!! Kids get out alone and she sits in the car... FFS! such a caring mother. When I was young I walked 3.5 miles to school come rain or shine or even that white stuff, not once did I ever ask my mam to give me a ride to school. I am a member of 'Green Peace' if you know of that organisation.

Ignore me swearing! its just how I feel some days! last year I took my grandson to school and a car mounted up the kerb to park and pushed me over, I pushed my grandson out of harms way, I confronted the driver and all I got was a load of serious abuse from this caring mother who didn't give a shit about me or my grandson, all she wanted to do was park up and nothing mattered! I took the reg' number and complained to the Head Master and also went to the police about the car hitting me, police asked me did the car injure me, I told them not really, so they blatantly would not help me... Never been so angry with the police. The school acted on my report and sent out letters to all parents about the parking and also a parent had been hit by a parking car, cars parked well away from the school after that but only lasted for a couple of weeks, then it was back to the norm' of dangerous parking.
+Strange Fruit .....To be honest I've never seen these mobile camera cars in our area, maybe our council hasn't thought of doing this....yet!! On the odd occasion a copper on a bike appears outside our school this scares most parents in not parking but once he's gone they are back doing it.
I agree it's a problem. However so many schools have closed down, it's impossible for many parents to deliver their children any other way. For my kids to use public transport, they would have needed to take two buses; furthermore there were no concessionary or return fares When they were older, they walked; it was just under 3 miles When they were still young and vulnerable, they went by car because the alternatives weren't viable.
good ought to increase the fines tho if you get caught twice its double three times its triple etc etc or fine them a percentage of what the cars worth
Why don't they put folding bollards on the road at the front gate! where the no parking zone is. I do get that they have to be lifted and dropped 2times a day. Am pretty sure the janitor will not have a problem with this if its keeping the kids safe it's a job worth doing. Surely it can't cost an arm&leg to get them installed.
the roads should get closed if somehow possible (bypass requ. etc) during drop off and pickup times for *all* vehicles. Force them to park at least 500m away and walk. I got 2 schools at my commute and I'm really pissed off by that parental behaving
Camera cars can only enforce the yellow lines only and only the yellow lines. Council say it's a police matter and the police says it's a council matter.
Can you list the laws you believe should not be enforced ? To start you off it was once illegal to eat mince pies on a Sunday and every able bodied male had to put in a certain number of hours archery practice each week . Oh and homosexuals were jailed until a few years back 😢
Maybe we should look at it another way. Parents want to ensure their children are safe. There are a lot of nasty people prsying on children. A drop-off area outside would solve the issue. They arent parking then Merely dropping off. Causes less cars driving trying to park. A 70 pound fine will merely infuriate parents against the council. Get a better solution to the issue instead of fleecing parents every day.
