What I don’t understand is, if there were witnesses of the woman delivering the baby in a parking lot and abandoning the baby why didn’t anyone offer her assistance? Or at least call 911??? Having a baby isn’t a three minute ordeal. It takes a while so these witnesses just sat there and watched her for half an hour have a baby in the parking lot and didn’t do a thing??? Make it make sense.
Humanity doesn't make sense. Globally. Just look at any given year of any country on the planet and study the bizarre events, crimes recorded, unsolved cases, etc. The jank would overrun your synapses before you learned about a dozen things.
People are quick with the judgment but not one bastard called an ambulance to help her while she was in labor. That lady was probably delirious from blood loss, she could be homeless, she could be having a mental breakdown, postpartum depression, etc… This is not normal behavior.
All the local businesses around, and she couldn't ask for help? A baby is a child of God automatically regardless of the situation. Anyone with morals and a heart would've called for help.
I truly believe she may have possibly thought she was at a safe haven box and got confused. I mean she was in labor, would anyone expect a woman in labor to be able to think clearly through the pain and agony, along with the fact that her walking away might've implied she's homeless? This is not a homicidal monster, this is a woman who's clearly not well and needs help.
Birth control should be free and easily accessible, hand it out with the “care kits” you know, small tooth paste, toothbrush, hotel soap, birth control,pair of new socks…

You couldn't tell people about the country wide Safe Haven Law? If someone brings a baby to a hospital or fire station you won't be charged for abandonment. Explaining the Safe Haven Act takes all of 20 seconds.
I would adopt the baby in a heart beat. So sad. Babies can be taken to hospitals, police stations, and fire stations, and given to workers there and whoever gives them up will not be in trouble.

@KHOU When you report an incident like this you have an obligation to explain safe haven laws and show the safe haven sign. Even on a short clip like this. Not many will watch a full news broadcast. People now don't have the attention span for it.

Considering how important Texas thinks babies are you would think someone would have helped her. I’ve had 5 babies and I’m not walking anywhere. I can only think that this woman went through something traumatic and was in a state of shock.

I do every day I baby sit my great granddaughter so her mother can work day care is expensive and so is everything else and no wouldn't have stood around and watched a woman giving birth on the streets that's insane and inhumane
This is the second newborn abandoned in the past week around the Houston area. This has to stop. Most animals do a better job than this. This is heartbreaking.
A lot is unknown I hope they find the mother to get closure. We don’t know if she was homeless, addicted, trafficked, abused, or denied care at a hospital. We’re living in times where pregnancies are politicized and criminalized so I expect to see more of this behavior. Peace and love to the baby and mercy to the mother.
It's Texas, even if the woman wasn't mentally unstable, would an emergency room even take her in to deliver the baby? I doubt she had money or insurance?

Although I am Canadian, I've visited Texas a few times and the people there were so friendly and amazing everywhere I went. Don't know why you would think it's okay to insult them. Immigrants are moving there in droves so it's obviously not that bad.

Hopefully someone in the mother’s family, or even the father’s side, will care for the baby girl. Hopefully people don’t judge the mother’s family because of what she did, her family may not be like her. I know someone who lost custody of their child, the child ended up with an aunt and uncle. It bothers me when the CPS, the state sticks kids in the home of strangers, when they can be placed in a relative custody.

A baby will cry when dropped or stabbed in the head but a fetus does not have a mouth or vocal cords. More importantly no one has to hear on the news about every @bortion. No one willing gives birth on the hot pavement. Strange you'd think a woman in such a horrible situation would try to kill her baby by placing it near a donation box...a box she may have thought was a safe haven box. Be for real.
And that's where the argument begins. Why can a mother decided the fate of the baby but the father has no real say? Men need to use condoms , they may not be 100% but they are better than nothing. Also a DNA should be provided to the father in question before he signs a birth certificate. Too many men have been lied to.
