Carol Wright was crossing the Royal Park Bridge, which links Palm Beach to West Palm Beach. When the drawbridge started to open, she couldn’t get off and fell to her death. Inside Edition is walking across the Palm Beach, Florida, bridge where the 79-year-old woman lost her life when it opened. Wright had two minutes to get off the bridge but couldn’t make it. “I guarantee you she made a valiant effort to get across this bridge and tried valiantly to save her own life,” the family attorney said.

I agree and I mean no harm when I say this but it's no way she got to the top of the bridge opening without hearing the alarms and seeing those guard gates come down colored in red and white how was she at the top where the opening starts if she was supposedly trying to get back or get off it doesn't make sense it sounds like she simply tried to hurry up and cross the opening anyway not get back or get off all she would of had to do was go the opposite way of the bridge opening and I'm sure she would have been fine she had to obviously feel the bridge get steeper and steeper as she kept walking up.

The operator should be accountable, theres no reason someone with that job should raise a bridge with innocent people still on it

If they ignored all the warning signals and sounds then oh well that bridge is going up and they're going splat.

So they don’t monitor the bridge when someone’s crossing it? This is a very tragic story.

The warnings always last longer than it actually takes to cross the small bridge, I wonder what she was thinking, condolences to the family
@EddieLifts

@@DavidGS66 it only takes 3/4 minutes to cross, so turning around halfway would of been easy. To ME I think she tried to make it to the other side while it was sounding the warnings

There should be a timer so pedestrians can see how much time there is before the bridge opens. And isn't the person in the tower supposed to check the bridge before opening it?

Ya youd think operator would have enough of a functioning brain to check bridge... notice an old lady and stop the dang bridge from killing her.

@jenson1569 2 года назад
@@nevawoke5148 It’s just one of those things, probably done so for years and nothing has ever happened since it literally gives you 120 seconds to walk 30 yards (27 meters) so there wasn’t a reason to check.

Dear God my heart breaks for that poor woman. Especially her family. Imagine playing that scene over and over again in your head? Your mom/grandma clinging onto a bridge for dear life- afraid and then falling screaming to her death 😳
