Good day to you all, I am Dr. Alper Eraslan from Dünya IVF Fertility Clinic in Cyprus and I would like to briefly give you information about female age and polycystic ovary syndrome in couples having difficulties in conceiving.
Considering the entire life span, although women at the age of 38 and over are considered young, they are considered women of advanced age regarding fertility. Unlike men, women cannot produce new reproductive cells as they grow older. Especially after the age of 38, even if women have regular menstrual cycles or normal ovarian reserve tests, unfortunately, there will be a decline in egg quality and number.
The second important group of patients are those with decreased ovarian reserve. Regardless of female age; low number of eggs due to previous ovarian surgery, cancer treatment, familial factors causes problems in different stages of IVF treatment.
In patients with advanced female age and decreased ovarian reserve, we recommend egg donation in cases of medical necessity.
Egg donation is a process for women whose ovaries do not produce eggs or whose ovaries are damaged or women without ovaries during which eggs are collected from another young healthy woman, fertilized with the partner's sperm under laboratory conditions and the resulting embryo is transferred into the uterus. In this way, we achieve very high pregnancy rates.
