This bride is such a Barbie doll Fanatic that she wants to look like one on her wedding day. Catch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC - Sky 133, Virgin 162, BT TV 323
It bugs the crap out of me when parents play the “I’m paying” card. Like how about you pay bc you love your kid and not because you have some weird superiority complex?
@@Mimi-yo1hq Yes, yes they do. As do anyone who buys anyone else a gift. They will not purchase something they fundamentally disagree with. It’s just how gifts work. The reason you shop for gifts is that you are looking for something the person wants that you want to buy, let’s not deceive ourselves. That being said... I liked the second dress better.

I’m gutted that she didn’t get that second dress. It’s not something I’d ever pick myself, but she glowed in it. The first and third both were just not it.
The second dress was really nice, but IMO the sparkly bodice on third dress gave it that wow factor and with the purple sash, earrings, and tiara it give it the Barbie feel she was looking for. I agree the first dress was hideous.
My gawd...my dead grandmother wouldn't wear that ugly wedding dress to her 3rd husband getting married...i was there...however...she found the right 1 and look stunning
I hate that the idea is "I'm paying for the dress so I get to choose it". No. You're paying for it as a gift. You offered. It's like giving someone money, them buying something and then saying "Well, I bought it for you..." No. You gave me the money. Totally different.
I agree to a degree, but I also think these brides with problematic parents who do this already know that their parents were going to put up a fight and were willing to deal with it to get a free dress. It’s not like she met her mom yesterday. If the objections were that big of an issue for her she should have just rejected the money and bought her own dress. Basically, you get what you’re willing to pay for.
I wouldn't even call that pink. That's more of a mauve color than an actual pink. It's not even Barbie pink. The dress would look so much better without the belt.
They must all be colour blind, that's not a pink belt and the way it fell was horrible, way over the top and took away focus on the dress which wasn't that nice. Looks like a toilet roll cover.
The old SYTTD formula: 1. First dress: Parent/friend's pick, but the bride hates it 2. Second dress: Bride's pick, but entourage hates it (with exaggerated language); can be switched with step 1; 3. Lori monologue: I need a balance and I have the perfect dress in mind 4. Third dress: bride likes it, some of the entourage unsure 5. Veil on: entourage suddenly crying Sisters, keep this formula in mind and observe when you watch more episodes of SYTTD old version lol
2:10 😂when she tries on the first dress and says it's pretty, and the consultant says "oh really?" in this quiet and totally confused way... that was beyond hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I think it’s crappy when whoever is paying for the dress feels like they can dictate what they choose. It’s supposed to be a gift. I loved that second dress and I think she did too.
An Impasse This isn’t.. ya know, just clothes. It’s a wedding gown. It’s supposed to be one of the happiest moments of a woman’s life. The wedding dress is also traditionally gifted (paid for) by the parents. Normally, parents are happy to cover the cost of the gown their daughter will be married in, but this mother used it as leverage to get her way. That’s messed up.
In my opinion I think that was the best one too just because I think the first one was too old looking for her and the dress she chose had that feathered look which I’m not a fan of but I’m glad she found one that makes her happy
that bride looked SOO happy in that 2nd dress. uhh why can’t the moms just be happy for their kids. like it’s literally THEIR wedding, let them wear what they want
It's a control thing. Had a Mom dictate with her wallet until I went to work at 16 and turned it back on her. My money, my choice. Picked my wedding dress alone to avoid the drama.
I thought it was more of a mink honestly Edit: I have now realised I was looking at the first dress one, maybe it’s just the editing or lighting making it look purple??
Saw this comment before the video started and then when I actually saw it, I choked on my drink because I still wasn't prepared 😂 Even the Consultant's reaction had me laughing 😂
Let me tell you what I have taken away from this episode: Pay for your own dress! This way no one can manipulate you into getting what they want even though it's not even their goddam wedding. Just refuse even if your parents offer to pay for the dress. Ask them to funnel into something else like the band or lights. A dress is so personal it should reflect who you are as a person.
It’s amazing how in these episodes the mom will “hate” a dress and then because they drop a veil all of a sudden it’s the most beautiful dress they’ve ever seen lol
Seriously? A “bridal barbie” vision is pretty basic. The second dress was really pretty, & she looked happy. But the whole “mom has a budget & barbie needs a reality check” was SO unnecessary. In the end, the girl had to settle for a bog-standard ribbon as a souvenir of her vision. I wish her nothing but happiness. :)
@@sushmita8824 also if the family pays for the dress then it is a gift and while they may choose to value the payer's opinion more, they shouldn't be forced to pick something they don't like.
My mother paid for my dress, but she never once said “well, I’m paying so I get what I want”. She just kept telling me I was beautiful in everything. Lol.
She was beaming in that second dress, and looked like she was trying to be happy in the third. My heart goes out to her that she didn't go home with the one which was clearly meant to be hers.
i can't believe they made her forego the second dress 😂 it was absolutely gorgeous on her! at least i thought it was much better than the third dress. anyway! as long as the bride's happy with her dress 👍🏼
Laurie "Lots of brides want to emulate iconic fictional characters." Me always picturing myself as Belle from Beauty and the Beast on my wedding day 😳😳 I feel attacked
I also want to be Belle from Beauty & Beast! But I don't think yellow and puffy skirt agree with my skintone and petite figure 😅. So I got myself soft pink Baju Kebaya with some blings (Baju Kebaya is one of Malay's traditional clothes and there are many variations 😆). Also added a soft pink veil and tiara to have the bridal vibe 😊.
I actually love blush dresses! It’s something different. I would love a flowy blush dress, off the shoulder, with tulle sleeves. (I saw an image that looks better than I can describe lol) I don’t see why some ppl want to dictate what the bride wears on her special day🙄 that’s why I don’t really want anyone coming with me to dress shop whenever someone decides to marry me 😂
"I've been picturing a fitted gown." Excuse me? Woman, this is your daughter's wedding. And you accuse her of being childish because she wants a pink dress 😒
Yeah but she's the one paying for the dress, and even if not the bride wanted her to be there to share her opinion. And when her daughter picked a ball gown she still payed for it, so I don't see a problem.
Oh My GOD! Why on Earth does a person who is paying for the dress think they get to dictate what the dress looks like? By the dress graciously for the bride, not for you! Every time I watch the show and I hear somebody saying "I'm paying for it I get to..." I feel my blood pressure rising!
I look forward to my wedding dress shopping day. Please know that I will NOT tolerate rude family or friends. Dress shopping is also an important time and I shouldn’t be left with bad memories of that day. 😊
