I’m a married black woman and I 100% agreed with KS telling this young woman this. I understood that when I got married, black men were shying away from black women because of our attitudes, argumentative ways and weight. The first thing I did was work to become the best version of myself. That meant making sure my attitude, tone, body and personality were A1. When I did meet my husband, he got the best of me and I got the best of him. When you give people your best, they are actually more inclined to help you stay at your best and when you’re not at your best, they are more understanding. Ladies, if you see this understand, most black men are not asking for a whole lot… pleasant, a decent figure/weight, not be lazy and not have outrageous demands.

Sadly it’s easier for women to follow the social norms of being rude, loud, headstrong and being generally unpleasant. It’s more convenient for them to follow Cierra and Sexy Redd because if they don’t they’re outcasted in their friend groups by being called “pick me’s” and other outward terms of jealousy. I’m a college student and the era of which women could read your comment and think “maybe she’s right” is long gone. There are too many men who lie to them for their own benefit and too many woman who lie to them out of jealousy. The black women I’ve seen showing the good characteristics you mentioned have always kept one foot out of the door of our relationships because the “fun” black dude with nothing going for himself is always waiting to give them the butterflies and thrills of heartbreak and excitement. Even though the current displaced marketplace benefits me because I could just play the game and get what I want without commitment, it still saddens me to see how difficult it will be to find a woman who rejects the modern “pleasures” and “benefits” that sleeping around gets them.

Facts! I have 2 older sisters, my oldest is married and has been married for several years to a doctor, I’m married to an engineer who is a VP and my other sister that’s in between me and my oldest sister is not married. She complains all the time about how she’s looking for men like her brother in laws that want to settle down but the men aren’t serious. She’s dated an a doctor that’s now married, an engineer that’s not married, an attorney who’s married now and the list goes on. We keep telling her, the problem isn’t them, you’re too argumentative and you’re unpleasant to be around sometimes. She has the looks, the body and she’s surrounded by successful single men but she’s too abrasive. I sent her this clip, hopefully, she’ll listen. If not, we’ve already told her, she never come live with either of us.

She reminds me of this Black friend I had in high school. Really pretty girl and she wanted to talk to me but was asking why I or no other men were trying to date her. I said do you want me to tell you the absolute truth. She said yes. I said you're a very pretty girl, I said but you're fat. You're in high school and you gotta be at least 220. I said if you got down to like 150 or 160 you'd probably be the most sought after girl in the school but no one trying to talk to you because you're fat and there's other pretty girls in the school that are the right size. Oh she was pissed. How could you say that and be so shallow. She quit talking to me after that. Didn't want to hear the truth. The woman here is why try when men don't want to cooperate. We do want to cooperate. But if we say we want you fit, feminine and friendly and you're fat and overly aggressive, why would we stick around?

Concern about a potential partner's weight is not "shallow." Excess weight on men and women promotes heart disease, stroke, diabetes, joint injuries an so on. Heavy women have a harder time conceiving a child, and they tend to raise heavy children of their own.

Years ago I knew a hispanic woman who was upset that men would not ask her out. She was fifty and single and wanted to be married but refused to tone herself down and glow up a bit. "nope she said, if they want me they accept me as I am!". I'm sure she is still single. I will have been married for 20 years this December and I still try to look cute for my husband and try new recipes to please him, rub his back, etc. Dating is brutal and I do NOT want to go back to being single for any reason.

I was obese and needed to take my weight seriously, be submissive and listen. 💮When I was in school for a health care career we were instructed not to ever answer the phone. "You are not employees. You are students." The phone rang at the hospital desk. No one answered it. The supervisor, a BW, screamed at me to answer it. I told her that were not allowed to. She flew into a rage and screamed for 20 minutes non stop at me. "When I tell you to answer the phone you answer it!!! Gon tell me no!!!......" At work a lot of BW's can't handle boundaries.
