I'm a jeweler, I recognize a few of those rings. They are extremely poor quality, which to me means they lose diamonds all the time and the metal is full of internal voids. They're also hollow underneath the diamonds so they'll crush easily.

Back in the day, when our fathers used a shotgun for marriage is what this is like. He is forced to take care of you. Because that first baby is the covenant agreement that you will take care of me and our children. Being with a man along for the ride also hinders him from being a cheater. He is less likely to cheat than a man who will marry you and have 5 other partners along the way. It is them who are broken. We don't teach men to want marriage. We teach little girls to want marry from the time she has her first doll and first pretend kitchen. It is like we are two genders in the same place but not the same world.

Ok, I get marriage is an important thing in the US, in my home country it's not. And the unmarried couples from my generation are the most stable relationships I have personally encountered so far. In the meantime, I am enjoying my long term grass widow life and the gift of having to raise the legitimate child all alone with no support whatsoever. The ring doesn't mean a thing if one partner is running away, refusing to participate in the marriage and sabotaging all efforts to raise the child (and raise it properly).
