Texas A&M set a new NCAA women's 4x400 record at the 2021 outdoor championships with a time of 3:22.24, anchored by Athing Mu who ran a record split of 48.85. Subscribe to the NCAA Championship RU-vid channel: www.youtube.co...
I had Athing as a student at Trenton Central High School. Maybe an even better person than runner. One of my all time favorite students. She really lit up the room. America is going to fall in love with her like all her teaches and classmates did. Sky's the limit. Go Girl!
Athing inspires me like few runners have. I am 75 years old and track middle distance has been a major part of my life....but this athlete makes me want to go running.
Athing Mu simply the best 400/800 collegiate runner in history. In a few years, she will be the greatest 400/800 professional runner in history or is she already ??????? We all know she is going pro but wow it was a treat to watch her this season !!!
Christine Mboma of Namibia, who is a year younger than Athing Mu, ran a couple of 400m races in April this year in 49.22 and 49.24. Mboma is a sprinter and not nearly as good in the 800. Pamela Jelimo of Kenya holds the world U20 record for the 800 in 1:54.01. She ran that a bit before she turned 19 when she ran that back in 2008. It's impossible to know how Mu will do against Mboma in the future but it will be exciting. More immediately, Mu is competitive against the world's best in the 800 right now.
@@tingan88 It will be interesting to see how they transfer to the Pro Level, as we know there have been a lot of College Phenoms but Never panned out on the Next Level I look at Jamaica's High School Competition and every year they have Several Athletes who are setting U20 Records only to disappear I think that Athing will constantly get better because the Competition will get better and she thrives off of being Challenged. Alyson Felix will be riding into the Sunset and We will have an New Group to lead TEAM USA for the next Decade Athing, Sydney and Grant will be the Face of TEAM USA
Athing Mu is not the greatest NCAA 800m runner ever until she wins a NCAA 800 meters title, which she has yet to do! Usain Bolt is the greatest ever because he has gold medals to back up his times!
@@davidpouncy8471 Anybody who is 5ft 10in 124 lbs. with long legs is going to look like they are floating naturally when they run. I've seen high school boy runners 6ft 0in 144lbs. with long legs and a stride that look like they were floating when they ran.
The crazy thing about Mu is that she having even scratch the surface yet. I believe she might be only athletes that can compete on the 400m 800m and 200m if she can get a good coach to work on her 200m.
200 is a stretch. the 400/800 double is hard enough. I don't even think she would do that. She will end up choosing one of them. She won't get 400m record but 1.53 that's a 56,57 split. that's possible for her.
Why would she want to run the 200m when she should strive to be the greatest middle distance runner, which is 400-1500 meters her range. Her 4:14.06 in the 1500 meter is no joke! I see her in the Olympics as a 800m and 4x400 relay runner.
@@David_USC That makes sense. Also of how she would schedule this in world's and Olympics. She will be exhausted. When bolt the record for the 200m he was about 80 percent. He was exhausted from the heats, semi/finals of both 100/200m. Now imagine doing with longer distances.
@@raregoodds3143 If she ran the 400, the Competition would bring out the Best in her, I think that she has no barriers only what's in her mind. If the Competition steps up, so will she, I predict that by the next Olympics 2024 She will be the World Record Holder
Athing is a amazing! It’s just beautiful to watch. Their second leg was strong too. I’m gonna watch this again and again. Athing is going to bring an 800 meter gold medal to the United States!!
Athing Mu is the ‘problem’, ‘answer’, and ‘truth’! I remember seeing Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards(née Ross) splitting a 49 low to break the NCAA women’s 4x400m relay record in 3:23 mid and was like wow no one can ever run that fast! She is and was a once in a lifetime type of athlete and then comes the MU’!!! What a great person! Both well read and spoken. Accomplished 3 collegiate records after one of the worst years for human life in modern history, accomplish top 5 world time ms in two individual events and the mile relay as us old track fans say!! I am so grateful for the entire new generation for pushing themselves beyond anything that can be thought of to put on such a show. But more importantly put the sport I absolutely love the most on the map for the world to take notice. Thank you and bless your talent and I wish you many more moments of glory!!
Athing Mu is becoming an asset, a phenomenon in 400m and 4by400m relays. She's looking good to take over from our darling queen of track Allyson Felix.
Let's be honest .... Every competitor that runs the W 400 hurdles .....is RELIEVED that Athing Mu didn't decide to throw that event in her arsenal as well.😁🔥🔥 Dayuuuummm..... She is my FAVORITE athlete of 2021 .... by far. Athough Joseph Fahnbulleh's journey was Epic to watch too. But when it comes to watching someone you just KNOW is "Special" ... Athing is in a league of her own. How many records did she end up breaking this FRESHMAN season.?? Craziness. Of all the Collegiate Athletes who have a chance to compete in the Olympics, Athing Mu has the best chance at History. Jevaughan Harrison, the Jumping Phenom and record holder, is that exception. He too is Out of this world.!! Great race ladies..👍👍
@@angelamiller2105 If she goes out for it, there's absolutely No Doubt that she will make it, I was under the assumption that she was U.S., but hey, Give Credit where Credit is due
@@kujichaguliaself-determina7388 I bet you don't know some of the athletic coaches are also Jamaican. Jamaica also have athletics from several different countries training in Jamaica. That's how things are get over it !
WoW! Athing is really an alien 👽 (Out of this world) when she races! A very delightful athlete and very decent human-being. I truly hope, and I am looking forward to see her make her mark on the world stage. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
We may have just witnessed the passing of the torch during this recent Olympic cycle. The current queen of track and field Allyson Felix finished her last Olympiad in a blaze of glory, which happened to coincide with the international emergence of teen sensation Athing Mu. She is the one to watch in upcoming competitions.
Athing Mu's already an Olympic Champion! She's also the anchor runner for Team USA in the gold medal winning 4x400m relay team! She's also the 800m Olympic Champion!
nasser almost certainly a juicer. missed four straight random tests but due to a technicality got off unlike christian coleman who will miss the olympics.
@@oldfrend They are ALL doping, though. Nasser will get off on a technicality because anti-doping agencies are really after American athletes. They are the "big prize." USADA is always on their tails. African and Asian countries have no anti-doping protocols so their athletes are never drug tested.
Wow so so so very proud of her and all those girls !!! Hoping nothing but the best for her and the rest of those young ladies!! Wow what talent and beautiful spirits!
Unreal anchor. Had the 100s at 11.9 (rolling), 23.8 (11.9), 36.2 (12.4), 48.8 (12.6)... compared to her individual 12.1, 23.7 (11.6), 36.0 (12.3), 49.5 (13.5). She can run 1:55 this year
The way they said 48:85 in unison was empathic. Mu left them by some 30 meters after being down by 5-7 meters. That Baby is Spectacular, "Go Athing of Beauty"!!!
Charokee is an assasin. Talitha Diggs is running so well this year that Florida may have her run the short sprints. That could mean that the 400 could be there for the taking. Texas, Arkansas, Colorado St, and maybe some others will be in it but barring injury I wouldn't count out Young as she is the Quiet Assassin. I am excited for this year's 400 as it will be high powered and probably the largest number of girls who will go sub 51 outdoors. I am not gonna be surprised to see the 1st year we may have >=2 girls go sub 50 in same meet.
@@guestcommenter7934 Saw them in the SEC indoors. Charokee was beaten to the break, but beat them second half on her 800M strength... With a competitive 200M, she can beat them to the break and also dominate the 2nd half with her 800M strength. She needs that killer drive of a shorter distance sprinter to fully master her 400M.
😯😲🤯 Mu is not human! *Dang I know USC was blown when she got passed in the first 100m. I know 4th legs was sad when they seen A&M up by 10m, the know was no coming back from the when Mu got the baton!*
