Older women have been saying these things but people useto call them bitter.

A beautiful, wise woman once told me, "Have your own because if he can feed you, he can starve you." Her husband was divorcing her after being caught cheating. She did everything. Cooked, cleaned, doted, managed the kids, and followed him where he wanted to go. He still cheated. She met a nice younger guy who doted on her, cooked for her, and spent time with her without accusations and degradation.

My mom was with my dad for 25 years. Did everything for him and he left her and 3 kids for a woman who was 10 years younger and her kids. He and his new wife then proceeded to bully my mom because the judge gave her half his retirement and ordered alimony and child support. The new wife wanted that money to support her lifestyle. He tried to leave my mom broke with no work experience. My mom went from going to Target runs and getting a new car every few years to driving a clunker & having to watch her money. Meanwhile my dads new wife was getting plastic surgery and going on lavish vacations while we suffered. These men are something else.

If youre going to treat your relationship like its a career, dont be surprised if you get fired the moment somone cheaper comes along.

Let’s keep in mind that The Traditional Wife construct is more of a Middle/Industrial Age concept and not a Digital Age one.

My nanna just told me this past Friday that, if she didn’t get married back home (Nigeria) and she came to England, she would get a job, get a house, pay it off, find a handsome man, get pregnant, then say “okay, bye” (😂) and raise her kid by herself. This woman will be 83 in May.

I was once a traditional Wife and now going through a divorce because he wanted to control me and be his slave. They will all learn it all ends the same with men. Choose yourself and spoil yourself! ❤️❤️

Teaching all the young girls in my life to put themselves first by getting that education, building your own career, have your own money. Also, if you do get married, put in a prenup make sure to have a solid cheating clause and protect your assets such as 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, and etc…

I could never have made the choice to be a tradwife. I would have been too afraid and anxious of things like illness, unemployment and death to put all my eggs in one basket. ETA: And I say this as a married woman, who ended up being the breadwinner within the first year of my marriage, when my spouse was made redundant.

I am over 50 and when I was growing up, my mom and most of the women in my neighborhood worked. My grandmother and aunts worked. Those foremothers who did not work outside the house worked on the farm. There were women working in factories, as servents, etc.

The trad wife. To autoimmune, to cancer is aomething i fear my life will be. I was a trad wife, become a single mom of 6, i now have an autoimmune disease, and ive changed my eating and tackling my c ptsd so i hope i can be healthier for the rest of my life.

I feel like I played the game of life correctly because I made it to 40 childfree 🙃

Being financially dependant on someone is opening the door to any type of abuse. Physically, mentally, emotionally...It's giving someone power over your life and you being stuck in that situation. No matter what you decide to do, tradwife or not, make sure to always have a plan B and some savings for you to get out of bad or unexpected situations.

In the same breath, loyal employees who stayed extra hours, did everything “right” some gave up their entire lives, time with family, didn’t have kids to push their career only to still get replaced and pushed out for someone younger and cheaper, pick your poison in this life, nothing will go as planned

You are working for your money and upkeep as a tradwife. In fact you are probably working more than a 50/50 wife because your job never ends. Really the big difference is you have no savings, retirement money, and maybe not even money to feed you or your kids TODAY once your man clears that bank out on their way out the door. 😢 I have seen this in my friends and family and I’ve experienced some semblance of this in my own personal life. You better listen to your big sisters and aunties. We’ve been there and done that. You are not special or different. We’re just telling you to save you some grief. It’s all good…until it’s not.

If you can’t trust someone with your life and money then why bother marrying him? However, I do encourage women to get training and develop and maintain skills should something happen: cheating, unexpected divorce, death, disability, drugs. You never know what Iife can bring you. Also, when married, know your family finances should you work or not, how much money is coming in, how much is going out. Have your name on ALL assets, including 401ks. Learn about making, saving and investing money. Don’t leave it all to him to manage. Get life insurance on each other too. I speak from experience, didn’t work while the children were young, then worked part-time while raising the children, he cheated, retrained for a better career, make 6 figures, am debt free, going for the house next.

LIFE INSURANCE

Well, I am from India and 80℅ of women here are "trad-wives" and alimony isn't great. So many of them are getting beaten up at home. It is frowned upon when you want to visit your parents' house. When your parents come home, they don't eat a morsel of food at daughter's house ( traditions). No one in India will have food made in the morning, at night. It's different meals plus homemade snacks for each meal. It's considered shameful when your husband even fetches himself a glass of water. You're expected to serve him. Also, you have no say in any household decisions. If you say anything, it is said, you're a woman, why are you coming in between and giving your opinion? The list is endless...

I say if you want to be a Tradwife then that's fine, but make sure you squirrel away money just in case. Don't put your full survival on a man.

nara smith is rich, she doesn't NEED to make paper from scratch. she can afford to be a tradwife bc she has more than enough money on her own to support herself and her kids. Most of us don't and would need to rely solely on our partners.

I’m 27 and i’m just starting to try to get real long lasting work. I haven’t got the job yet but i know i got it already, ya know? I’m much better prepared to have a longer lasting job now. You need money to survive on your own

nothing wrong with being a trad wife if that is what you choose to do. however, you need to have a back up plan. You need to have money in place to take care of yourself when you end up divorced. Don’t think it won’t happen to you.

Most of my classmates got married soon after graduation. They stopped being friends with us single girls and only hung out with other wives. Now we're all in our 40s, they all got divorced and want to reunite with us single friends. I never did get married because I didn't see the benefit.

There’s no reason any young woman should be making more than a few mistakes in dating and marriage. Men are telling on themselves and older women are no longer gatekeeping. Young ladies, open your eyes and your ears, if you’re allowing a man to play you, waste your time, or dating for a man’s potential, you’ll only have yourself to blame.

How are we having these conversations still… whos comfortable enough with men to do this… with anyone… Your survival is your responsibility.

I went to college (where I met my husband). I love having a career & business.
