Wow, the makeup really changed her face completely, she looks like a different person. I love how intricate the hair part was, and I really love how details about the makeup process were given step by step. Looking forward to the end result!
My daughter, as a baby, broke down crying when she looked away for a second and as a joke, Daddy put big plastic 80's style sunglasses on...she looked back and went 'WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE!!!???' with her little eyes and then started bawling. It was heartbreakingly adorable. Just like Nagi here.
My then-baby cried like that when I cut 12 inches off my hair. I felt so bad, but she’d been really hurting me with all the death grip hair pulling. She’s 20 now and has hair down past her hips. I guess she’s loved hair since infancy.
Poor lil Nagi won't recognize mom XD This is such a wonderful experience just to see from a video, thank you so much for showing us this. I'm so impressed with all the proffessional working on stuff like this. Also happy to notice there was one card from Finnish folks on the card wall :D
Poor Nagi..so confused…this was such a wonderful experience Harumi went thru. She’s beautiful even before the make-up. You lucky man! Can’t wait for part2!
Sorry for second comment, but as a makeup artist myself this was SUPER interesting and helpful to me! I may try some of these techniques myself now! I am very familiar with doing historical english makeup (like the Tudors, Elizabethans, and pre-revolution French) but I am facinated with how similar yet different the styles are, despite using essentially the same colours!
i've done regular degular makeup and her technique where she uses the puff to rest against the client's face while she does the rest of the makeup absolutely blew my mind. I am SO using that idea.
I'm so glad they offer this to foreigners. I know it's a traditon and some they are strict on. But loving japanese culture and them allowing this would be such an experience. A way to appreciate their culture in a more interactive way and a once in a life time experience. Even if they didn't allow you on the street per say. Just being allowed to try it and experience it. It probably being me to tears, not out of sadness but joy that I could experience this in person.
WOW!!! Takazawa is a magician! What a fabulous bit of magic she performed on Harumi, she is beautiful every day, but in the makeup, she is stunning! Thank you to Takazawa for sharing her talent with all of us, and thank you for this incredible video, I can't wait to enjoy part 2!
Oh Poor Nagi, she really went "that's not my mum" the way she stare at Harumi for a couple of seconds in confusion, oh no🥺 hahahaha so adorable, Harumi looks so beautiful in Meiko makeup, Takazawa is such an amazing artist, how precise every brush stroke she did, mesmerising, if I'm able to go to Japan one day I would love to try this ❤️
Shogo, you’re videos are the best, with its beautiful editing, your comprehensiveness, & everything in between. You really make me forget about the worlds problems temporarily & I thank you for that. Wishing you & your family great health and happiness. Love you Shogo!!!
I agree with everything you said. I live in Japan and just found all of his videos and they comfort me. His videos explain certain things in a better way than I understood.
The wife is seriously gorgeous, both before and after the getup, and Nagi looks like her dad. Like, I genuinely could just see his face copy-pasted onto Nagi. She’s frickin’ adorable! Them cheeks!!
I've always adored the stark contrast of red and white found in this style of make up. It's really just so entrancing and I would probably wear something similar all the time if I could. Thank you for sharing!
@Trinity M I'm not talking about dressing like a geisha and doing the whole look on a regular basis. I was just referring to wearing a white base with red makeup, which a lot of people do in other contexts.
@@anitatapio512 indeed. Siouxsie sioux went through an evolution in her stage makeup and was heavily influenced by this palette and style for a significant period.
This was fascinating to watch. I really enjoyed hearing the explanations of the items used and why something is done a certain way. Like why the red coloring is used and why the eyebrows are shaped in that manner. Thank you! I can't wait for part 2!
Aww lil Nagi!🥺🥺🥰 I understand tho. I did a full on Marylin Monroe look for Halloween. My lil toddler hears me but cant see me. Then realizes he looking at me😅😅😅 he burst into tears and wouldn't let me hold him till I took off the wig. I didnt look less scary still had overly light skinned makeup. Nagi's reaction brought me back to my own unintentionally terrifying my child🤭🤭 ✌🏽💜 everyone!
Wow! Harumi looks really beutiful and kawaii with the maiko make-up and wig! Thank you so much for sharing and taking us with you on such an experience! :)
First of all, can we comment on how beautiful Harumi is without any makeup?!? Perfect skin… but second, thank you so much for sharing this. It was incredible to watch the transformation.
sorry if i misinterpreted what you meant - maiko go to a special hairstylist once a week give or take, to maintain their hair styles and have it washed, they dont actually style their own hair haha :D Mameharu was one of my favorite maiko/geiko! I cant wait to see who the next Mameharu will be
Apparently when I was a baby I cried just like Nagi when my mom dyed her hair blonde. Since then she’s only ever dyed it a color very close to her own, just to make it more vibrant, apparently blonde didn’t suit her very well.
Harumi, you are always lovely. ❤ So fun to see the makeup process to become a maiko. Nagi's reaction was so perfect. 😀 Love the video looking forward to part two.
My wife and I have a girlfriend that who is the daughter of a Japanese POW who chose to live in the USA after WWII ended. She is preparing to take a trip with her father back to where he was raised (from what I understand, somewhere in Kyoto). I would love to be able to surprise her with this experience! Would you have contact information for them that you can provide? I Can't imagine a more memorable gift that I could give either of them than her seeing herself in traditional dress, or to her father seeing his little-girl honoring the traditions of his homeland as the indescribably beautiful example that she is!
I've always had an admiration for Geisha culture. It's so intricate and in-depth! I wonder if there is a reliable book of some sort in English that goes into the history and culture of Maiko and Geiko- further explaining all of the hair, makeup, clothing, and accessories, etc. It would be so cool to have a guide then look at different pictures and videos and try to apply the knowledge.
That was really awesome! Like I said in the short, there should be a way for tourists to experience this, and a way for people to offer pictures with tourists for a fee. Thank you so much for showing this. I can’t wait to see part 2!
😍🙌🏻 As a european MUA, this is beyond fascinating. Her technique, her knowledge, simply priceless. I' ll need to rewatch the process several times until I feel ready to try it on myself. Thank you so much for sharing. (And also many thanks to the polite customer for respecting the pro work remaining still🙏🏻) 🧛🏻♀️🖤 Greetings from Spain
Aww, just the other day I found an adorable video about babies crying when dads shave off their beards, and when I saw this reaction from Nagi I couldn't help but giggle. So cute! Harumi, you really look beautiful in this video! It was so pretty and interesting to learn! Thanks guys!
Wow!!! Harumi looks BEAUTIFUL!! What a great experience. Can’t wait for Part 2! And don’t worry about Nagi… babies can cry when mom gets a haircut. She’ll be just fine. ❤️
Harumi is so pretty with or without the Maiko makeup. I felt bad for Nagi! I do remember when my mom got a new, much shorter hair style and my baby brother didn't recognize her, so he cried, too. I do love how colorful and beautiful Maiko and Geisha are. I'm checking out the "part 2" video.
Ah this vid brings back my geisha culture obsession! It's really fun to identify details of their hairstyle, makeup and kimono. You can tell the season, the occassion and their seniority from there. Very unique culture of its own.
How much effort and practice the stylist have for performing such beautiful art in the canvas of the girl. I really like how many details have along with this rich background that support even the tiny details on the hair, and the clothes. Plus, my respect for the discipline of all geikos.
i love seeing you guys do stuff in Japan and teach everyone about it! you and your wife are a beautiful and adorable couple and seeing you guys together makes me so happy! thank you so much for everything you do!
Thank you so much. your channel is so fun to watch .so many new experiences, that otherwise I never would have had the chance to enjoy .your culture is so beautiful and really amazing!
Thank you for sharing with us strangers from around the world, and allowing us a glimpse into worlds away from our own, you are a blessing because you make me so happy to see you and your adorable family, makes me feel less lonely ❤ 🙏 I can't wait for more videos 🥰
I'd think, if it were made of something gentle, like zinc oxide, that the white would actually improve their skins. When I had pimples, I used to put Desitin, which is zinc + cod liver oil (gee, that sounds Japanese) on the spots. Worked like a charm. There is also a French formulation that's similar.
I love this. (Haven’t finished it all yet as I’m at work.) but this is very informative. I’ve always been fascinated with Geisha and their culture. This experience is one I hope to have for myself one day.
I love your channel and your uploads. They have improved my recent quality of life, which was okay to begin with. There is a sweet, innocent and wise combination of qualities in your content that I truly appreciate. Thank you for all of the work you put into your channel! I am grateful to you.
@@albertweskerfan In Japanese, as a girl's name, it means calm, placid ,serene, peaceful, However, NAGI was none of those after she saw her mom in her white make up!
