I'd say too much exposure too quickly is the number one contributor to child actors falling apart/abandoning the business. There is an elusive balance that's very difficult to reach, which is why I'm especially concerned for a lot the kids on Stranger Things.
Remember watching Mask 1985 with Rusty Dennis almost made cry as a kids cause I almost understood the struggles Rocky Anxiety and Depression he was going through ugh such a underrated movie.....
Juanscum381 It almost made u cry? I cried like a baby at the end. Cry everytime I watch it. But I'm a big cry baby when it comes to movies. Loved that movie.
Saw this movie because my grandson's 5th grade class did a joint reading project on the book. They also went to the movies and saw the film as a group. Totally out of hand, they LOVED the film, and especially the experience of seeing it collectively. Yesterday I was at the movies when a couple of 4th & 5th grade classes arrived to see the film, too. In today's news cycle, when adults are being caught behaving badly, it's good to see kids focused on kindness.
My wife read this with our 6 year old and they'll be going to the movie. I am so glad to hear it will be a good experience for both mom and daughter. I also assume they'll come home having completely red eyes and sniffley noses.
Wonder was a very wonderful and inspiring movie!! It had both it’s funny and sad moments! There scenes that I could even relTe too!! If Jacob Trembly doesn’t get any nominations with his Role there is something wrong with Hollywood!! Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson were excellent as Auggie’s parents!! Although poor Owen I think he was cast as comic relief and without giving it too much away ...keep him away from dogs!! Lolol seriously it was heart warming and it reminded me some of 1985’s Mask although that one had more of a tragic ending if! Oh the other thing about this movie, the character Auggie was a huge Star Wars Fan...and I was surprised with the brief cameos!! It was an awesome movie there were even classrooms of kids coming to swim Wonder!! Too bad this movie didn’t come out in my time!! Oscar goes to Jacob!!!
Really surprised this is getting good reviews, the trailers did look awful. I mean I was gonna check it out anyways (because Julia Roberts) but now I definetely have to watch it. Ps: Love you guys, great to see you all here.
All the kids in my twins middle school read the book as a summer reading assignment. My kids loved it. The entire school will be taking a field trip next month to see the movie & they can't wait. Glad to hear you guys liked it.
Daveed Diggs character definitely exists. In fact, my 13 year old brother has a an African American teacher who left Wall st in order to pursue his passion and teach history. We live in Manhattan.
That good teacher do exist! And that bully mother do exist as well. She is defending her bully kid. Be kind! Every one have their own battles. Im sure they have a backstory too. Thats the point of the movie.
😢😢😢😢😢 omg I’m in tears not sad ones. One that inspired me to love every person no matter how they look just because we see things on the outside we all have the same inside we all have the same blood we all have the same everything is suffer skin color and ethnicity. What a wonderful little boy thank you for sharing your story gonna watch the full movie I’m very inspired
Guys stop hating please. Sure the trailers look bad but I'm pretty sure the movie is decent! The book was veryyyyy good! (I read it and I'm watching wonder Sat. 18.) I'm happy that some people love the movie but some really don't like it. But that's okay I can't change people opinions. I don't agree with the people that don't like this but I can't change people's opinions. Anyway, I tried saying this a nice as possible but just stop hating and be a little nicer in how you word your comment. Instead of saying "Omg the trailers are sooo fucking bad!!! This movie is gonna be awful and plus Auggie is ugly" maybe say "The trailers are not that good, I don't think the movie is gonna be that good and not to be mean but I'm bothered by Auggie's face." See how easy it is to be a little nicer?!! Anyway imma stop. Have a good day.
Wanna a tearjerker about a kid with a facial deformity go rent the 1985 movie Mask with Cher and Eric Stoltz and come back s d gripe about Wonder being too sappy! Ok?
Owen McCafferty Mask was amazing, but Wonder is aimed and will appeal to younger audiences. I feel like Wonder was trying to get the "Choose Kind" message back. Because if you look at the internet you'll see people are forgetting it. Like I said before, Wonder appeals to younge raudiences, because it has a younger main character to relate to.
I know it isn't the greatest excuse but the format , the dog , and the ending were big parts of the book and played out almost exactly like how they did in the film . And I thought they did it pretty well
The movie is great but can anyone say what the deformity is called i can and multiple people can too but that's mainly because we have it and/or they know someone who has it. they never say what the deformity is called and I don't like that you would think the movie would raise awareness and it does do that but it also doesn't because it doesn't say the name of the deformity granted they could look it up but doesn't that kill the point of the movie. I leave you with one question. What is the name of the deformity?
It's kind of cheesy but it has a really good message. The book was less awkward but the movie is still good. But I would reccomend reading the book and Auggie & Me first to really understand the characters. #ChooseKind
I saw this movie but haven't read the book. It was a decent family movie. I expected my heart strings to get pulled but didn't really happen. Julia Roberts' and Owen Wilson were surprisingly good in this, as well as the kid that played Auggie. But too many of the characters and their arcs weren't developed enough. Some of the plot events and development just came off as goofy in the second half of this movie. Overall the plot was just too predictable and vanilla.
A movie about holding empathy for people having no concept of socio-economic disparity is just baffling to me. Julia Roberts quits her job, Auggie has 16+ surgeries, they live in upper Manhattan and Auggie goes to private school. Parent quitting job for child's health, medical bills, cost of private school to keep him safe. Any ONE of those things would crush a family post 2008 and this movie just ignores that. Jack Will is supposed to be in hand-me-down clothes and needing a scholarship to get by and he's absolutely fine playing Minecraft on his personal gaming rig with his big apartment. Miranda lives in that polished slick glass high rise with the Christmas decorations with her single mother who doesn't seem to have any economic reaction to the corporate level father abandoning the family. If they wanted to breed the Everyone Has a Story narrative--- perhaps they could have set the movie in either our reality or before the economic crash. I'm not saying that level of prosperity is impossible for the modern world. But for it to not be a concern AT ALL in that world breaks all immersion for me.
Two months late, nonetheless, I finally saw "Wonder". Check out to see what I thought of it and if you have seen it, let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bbW9ay0z3o4.html
Nice2347 nah, just got a sense of humour. It's an actor in make-up just like Gary Oldman in Hannibal. The make-up looks vaguely similar. Who am I bullying precisely? The actor? The make-up artist? The director? No really. I'd love to hear you try and justify this comment. Go for it.
Ben is the WORST critic. Talk about a nepotistic hire. I can’t stand his perspective on TCM OR here and I so wish they would both dump him as I like this review site and love TCM. This movie is not only worth seeing, kids should be encouraged to see it to understand that different people can be a gift and kindness is always paramount. There may be a little schmaltz, but only in a good, comforting, change people’s perspectives kind of way and don’t let the clueless fob who (would just be Joe Schmo without his last name) tell you any differently.
After watching the trailer, I'm just embarrassed for whoever wrote this movie. It's really, really, really simple. Show, don't tell. And leave your feel-good sentimental narrative at the door, and concentrate more on aesthetics. If there's some important message in the story, it will come out through your telling it truthfully. Don't try to dictate to us, what you think we should be thinking or feeling, it's so manipulative and artless.
I hate this movie as a cleftie kid. “It’s far more inspiring” Just because he had a craniofacial anomaly doesn’t automatically make it inspirational. He only has some facial scarring droopy eyes and a cleft lip (one of the first things people think of when they hear “craniofacial anomaly”) I feel mocked and ridiculed. I don’t know why people are moved by a movie that didn’t do their research. I really wish they would have an actor with Treacher Collins Syndrome or another similar craniofacial anomaly. I’m scared that we will be seen as uncommon. I am not an inspiring story. I am a person with my own lives and interests.
The trailers just made it look like a shitty Hallmark movie. None of the trailers for Wonder had a moment in which a fire sparked in my mind to make me want to go see this movie. I’m calling it, Wonder will probably be shit.
Joe Schmoe ok it maybe a sappy movie but come on!! It’s about a kid who goes through some physical disability!!! Why be a hater??Dang!!The book and movie had a lot to do with bullying and that comment sounds like a clueless bully to me!!
