I haven't told too many people this. when i'm starting my gasser, once i have established a flare i watch the water vapour coming out of my swirl burner. when i see it recede back into the tube from the shop vac then i know that i'm good enough to run the gen set. I've never had a problem doing it this way.
have you ever seen a water jet vacuum pump? its basically a tube lets say 3" diameter with a water nozzle praying a narrow fan cone jet of water , this water sprayer causes a vacuum behind the sprayer. i know you need a picture , if your interested let me know because this device will also clean and cool the gas without tar build up, then you simply run the water threw a sediment canister then a radiator
I can tell you this much. Once you get a good burn the smoke will turn into more of a thin looking vapor and you will see the gas turn bluer. I noticed this on the FEMA even when it wasn't filtered. Can you vary your air volume feeding the unit? Sometimes pulling too much air through the gasifier will give you a yellow flame even though you have good temperatures.
Teck, from your experience what things can go wrong? I'm using a spring loaded cover as a pressure relief valve. I've already seen a few "woofs" so I'm not sure if I should expect a Chernobyl melt down or what. Safety first! What gas temp do you think I need to be at to condense out the water? How can you tell water content by looking at the flame? Hydrogen white flame, I'm not sure, there should have been some, what ratio I dont know. Ah, grasshopper has much to learn.
Weasel you are going at this totally the right way! Nice job man! What are you planning running with it? Better yet, what size engine are you shooting for? Before I forget, what size is your reduction zone?
Looks good for a test but like you said you need to next work alot on filtering temps look great on this run! I my self dont like the forced air in idea you are doing due to i have seen too many things go wrong real fast that way but hey it looks like you got it working good just be carefull with forcing air in! By just the color of the flame i see you have alot of water some not as much tar as b4 but alot of water and i didnt see any white for Hydrogen in the burn! Was there any white in flame!
hi guys just thought of a question .... has anyone running a lpg system tried running wood gas through that system for running a vehicle n if so what was the result cheers mick
thanks again for the video n thanks for the educating comments guys i subscribe to you for more info if thats ok n tecknowfreak with forced air problems please explain :)
