As someone in architecture for decades this is the clearest explanation I have seen on how to run through these calcs by hand. I also noticed most PE programs don't cover Wood construction at all! And they can get messy when you get into drag struts and diaphragms.
Another great video! Also, now that the exam is CBT, would we have access to the ACI SP-17 for the concrete wall design (simplified method) and for the column interaction? I'm guessing if it is needed, it would be part of the question?
Is there somewhere in NDS where it explains how the force can be perpendicular and parallel. Technically there are 3 faces where the force can be applied. Two are parallel to grain and one is perpendicular to grain. Just wondering bc I'm not very familiar with wood lingo/imagery/design I'm screweeeeeddddd
the euler buckling equation is taken into account when going through the equations to calculate Cp since Cp is the "stability factor" for wood design. look closely at the equations when calcing Cp and you will notice the similarities between the multiple equations and euler.
Bruh, at first I'm like wataheck am I looking at? Like I didn't understand the figure. I understood that force was being applied to the little T. I do bridges so.....
