I was waiting for the routering of the back 10 minutes into episode one. It was the only thing I could think that would work. I did not think we would be waiting for three weeks though!

god, I know. I remember when we didn't know what he looked like for the longest time! I remember the pre-narrated videos! and the first narrated one he did with the whole disclaimer about it being non-educational and all. so proud of our boi in a super niche profession just doing what he loves and showing it to the world, and blowing up because of it. you go, Julian!
Once he explained he choose his materials and their ratios very calculated and objective which differs from project to project, so he doesn’t want someone just run to store and buy some random stuff and not getting any reasonable results after spending their time and money and effort .

Julian was extra salty today lol just the fact he had to spend 9 hours just taking off that small ammount, it reminded me of "scraping scraping and more scraping", just so tedious but so fun to watch^^
I was thinking that he could have sped it up by starting at what seemed to be the lowest point and then adjust the height at every new lowest point. This way he wouldn't have had to go with each pass over the whole surface.
@@everydayhero3610 Doing consecutive passes makes sure the whole thing is level. If you go for high or low points first, there is no guarantee of a perfectly level surface. Visual guidance and spot measurements are not as accurate. The mechanical precision of the router on a track is the best way to go. And with a valuable and beautiful painting at stake, speed up is never a consideration. Unless you want Julian bitching about your crap restoration attempt in a video in 2030 :-)

That was the cut to different camera angles. That was a very clever thing that made it look like we were there in the studio and he was talking to a group of us. It reminded me of workshop lessons in school!

Let me clarify this once and for all -- We own "Anne," as well as this painting above, both of which have been lovingly restored and brought back to their former respective splendors. Anne came off our bedroom wall for just a moment and was delicately laid on our couch so she could hang properly (and not lopsided) Pooter, our loving cat leaped from ground up and pounced on her, causing the catastrophic damage. Without Julian's help, we'd be cooked. Pooter says that he is very sorry, and promises not to ever misbehave again ;) As for the label removal, we are unsure as to how this transpired. Nice job, Julian! Thanks for all your help.

I've seen half a dozen videos this month that use epoxy... and this is the first one that *doesn't* use Total Boat. I was sort of wondering if there was a conspiracy (or sponsorship) going on :-)
I had the same thought pattern .. but I don’t know where I got fiberglass from .. but I know carbon fiber, though it’s not stable due to its conductivity..
@@anwar.d6645 ohhhhhh, I didn't think about that. It could definitely cause a problem even with a static charge. But the fibreglass would be an insulator against the aluminum, I imagine. That's brilliant.

You can do plenty with a shelf. In my home office, I have a work table that's a 400 pound, 7-foot-long piece of granite an inch away from the wall (so cords can go back) with no visible legs.
23:35 Once i’ve done that i’m gonna go ahead and take measurements. Two equal diagonal measurements means *that we're square. Squarespace* - a place where you can build your perfect website. Without need to measure it, because it’s always square and plumb.

I will say, a few months ago, when you polled on IG asking if people wanted shorter but weekly videos or longer, once a month videos, I was one of those people who preferred the longer, but monthly. Now that you're producing weekly videos, I am loving it. Thank you for all the hard work you put into editing and uploading and all the long hours that go along with being a RU-vidr on top of being a busy conservator. 💗 Keep 'em coming :)

Love how Julian is teaching is that the structure of the canvas is just as important as the art. Most people focus on the front of the canvas with the art, but that’s not all a painting is. I mean saving the canvas etc. *is* Julian’s art too. ☺️
