WOODBRIDGE TOWN 4 LAKENHEATH 1 (HT 3-1)
Woodbridge Town are eighth in the league table as Luke Mallett made it 4 goals in his last 2 matches and goalkeeper Alfie Stronge made his last appearance before a move to AFC Sudbury at Step 4.
Alex McIntosh's effort was well blocked by Stronge after 2 minutes and Mark Ray's shot after 8 minutes missed the target for the Woodpeckers. For the visitors from Tom Debbenham's header, Shaun Avis' overhead kick went over the bar after 14 minutes. A minute later the hosts took the lead when Ryan Keeble's curling shot beat away keeper Charlie Beckwith. The away side soon equalised when McIntosh's accurate cross found Tom Thurlborn and he made no mistake from close range. Mallett made it 2-1 after 22 minutes with an excellent first time finish. It was 3-1 after 35 minutes when after a foul on captain Sean Rea, Mallett's free kick was headed in by Liam Scopes. Just before the break Mallett's pass found Keeble but his effort was saved by Beckwith.
The hosts increased the lead to 4-1 after 61 minutes when Substitute George Bowman's through ball was met by Mallett and his shot beat Beckwith. Bowman's effort went wide after 64 minutes and away Substitute Ivan Banki's shots were blocked by Aaron Churchyard and Taylor Southgate after 68 and 70 minutes. Stronge denied Thurlborn after 80 minutes with a smart save and Substitute Elliot Capel's lob went over the bar after 84 minutes but a well earned first home league victory for the Woodpeckers.
