I'll be honest. I was not the slightest bit interested in a boat build...until you showed the pictures of the boat(s) from which you were taking some design cues. Chris, this just looks like it'll be awesome. Thank you for producing good content and adding in plenty of details that make the intro that much more appealing. This is going to be so cool!

Cool to see you building a boat. I grew up building boats with my father in NY. I live a few towns south of you now and have moved some of the stuff there including my fathers first boat he ever built. I plan to refinish it as the decks are off it. Will be interesting to see the differnce in your building style from what I have done.

Coming in on this after the fact. I think that it was great that you were able to get an experienced boat builder to help you do the work on this. Thus possibly reducing some errors along the way!

I subscribe to both Sampson Boat Co (Tally Ho) and Acorn to Arabella -- so watching a boat building project that takes months instead of years will be fun. I'm building a Garvey Dory 14ft Spira now, the strongback in the plans is pretty flimsy, had to do a lot of reinforcement and add supports to frames/floor to keep framework from flopping around

TCC - I'm all in with your build. I too have always dreamed of a power drift boat. I just recently severed my Achilles tendon and after surgery it got infected so another surgery later and i'm not sure what life has in store for me now...... but.... i WILL build a boat. I'm pushing 70, have years of woodworking experience and i'm excited for you to build and me to watch. Thank you for making my convalescence a bit more tolerable. Jake/Snowflake Arizona

Going for the "Louis Sauzedde found the fountain of youth" thing? Gonna make a "Mr. Friendly"? Utz seems a touch concerned. I made a version for use replacing a few windows, but a track saw 6 1/2 blade fits in the factory guard. slightly less scary slightly

Unless you want it to get on plane I would power it with a high end trolling motor. Batteries don't weigh much more than fuel if you use Lithium Ion ones. Maybe less if you use newer motorcycle type.
