So, I went to this concert cause my buddy said I should. Dropped a few tabs and suddenly I was lost in the woods. Wooden Shijps were burning the flame. Now I'll never be the same...
There's allot of people hating on wooden shjips and im not sure why, to me they are doing what they do and people happen to like it whether its original or not. it's music guys stop reading into it so much and sit back and chill to some sweet tunes.
@@unloveableandre 6 years and finally i can rest in peace knowing that you have corrected my mistake. Sir. how can i repay you? you lord, Nay... KING of men.
The best ! I love this masterpiece especially guitar solos ... BEAUTIFUL !!! I started to learn to play this on my guitar from this video and I love the keyboard sound and melody. Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Poland ;p
This music is amazing. I enjoy this and Moon Duo. It is a breath of fresh air to hear bands not following the norm, who sell out to make cheesy crap. This stuff is uplifting to my soul.
These comments are gold. "They sound like [Hawkwind] [Pink Floyd] [The Doors]." I think that might mean they have their own unique sound. Certainly there are echoes of psychedelia from eras long ago. But, I also hear [REM] [The Cure] [Slowdive] [The Cramps] etc., etc., etc. Once you get past a couple of influences, the sound is unique. Wooden Shjips rock. Period. There goes my paycheck to Bandcamp.
I absolutely love the Indie style this band's got goin on, I'm British, and back in the early 90's, this shit got me through college man..I fuckin love it; the esoteric sound you can only feel, not hear. Let that guitar take you on a journey through your own head. Sit back and pretend your 18 again, without shitty bills to pay or stuff to give a crap about. Funny bit, 2:10..you can see the fear in the keyboard player's fingers not wantin to fuck it up..he gives a crap, and so do we..10/10
All Them Witches, The Black Angels, Wooden Shjips (+ Moon Duo & Vive La Void), The Myrrors, Holy Wave, 10 000 Russos, Camera, Sonic Jesus, Sei Still, Tales of Murder and Dust... are the best bands since and for a while.
I am 70 years old and never held an electric guitar in my life until Halloween 2020 when I bought a beat up take Fender Jazz Bass Guitar and a shifty Wal-Mart used toolbox made for Karioki. I bought a used power cord and plugged the guitar into the microphone outlet and Bluetooth the Wooden Shjip's song "Staring at the Sun" and coppied the sound of their bass guitar. I learned to play bass guitar to that single song well enough that I fooled my girl friend into believing I became a musical prodigy ! She was so impressed that she made a video of herself doing naughty stuff for my Christmas present !! She is a stone for and is 37 years old. Thank you God for these weirdos man !! Peace out brah and alpha brah.
Sure the vocals could be turned up a bit louder but the tone is perfect and yes it does bring Hawkwind to mind but what's bad about that? More or less any sound out there will bring some other sounds to mind... I think these guys are great in their selected genre.
There's something really enjoyable about the simplicity of this. It's like your listening to your neighbors jamming all night in their garage after smoking a load of pot.
I dont think they sound like the Doors at all... the doors were 'cleaner', Jim was a word man ... got to be heard man! It's the psychedelic droning, the raw instruments and 'instrument' vocals that makes these guys so cool. Jesus and mary chain and hawkwind comes closer to my mark.
People who claim they sound like The Doors, either have not yet listened to enough of the Doors themselves or had not heard enough of psychedelic music outside of The Doors. This simply seems like psyche rock, IMHO.
Awesome band! If you haven't checked out the guitarist's side project Moon Duo yet, I highly recommend it. "Circles" is one of my favorite albums of 2012
