I know this is 8 months, but just incase you see this. I would take off the quick hitch. It extends the grinder out too far. Also tighten your lower arm turn buckles as tight as you can get them. Otherwise you may damage your 3pt hitch. Great video btw.

Congratulations I’ve had one for several years and it is by far my most profitable attachment. Couple of pointers 1: check the teeth for tightness before and after each grind 2: prevent lateral movement of the grinder on the 3 point hitch 3: order 2 boxes of replacement teeth today. They can’t be sharpened. The folks @ woodland mills are the best of the best. There’s a learning curve, soon you won’t need to keep watching the grinder by looking backwards I use my rear view mirrors on my jd 2025

Great vid. I've had mine for a year now and really like it. Your right there is a learning curve. Thinking you may want to tighten your clutch a 1/2 turn on each fastener, it is too loose. There is a shear pin that is another level of safety too. I ended up getting an RV camera and mounted the camera under the grinder frame and that helps with visability. I like also engage the PTO at just above idle when the shaft is relatively level. then speed the throttle. Also found that rocks are not your friend and they will chip the carbide teeth. I pretty much grind no more than a couple inches below the grade no deeper. Also a hand held blower works great for blowing chips off the stump for visability and usually rake around the stump with a hard rake before i start just to get the obvious rocks away. Keep a 6 pack of extra teeth on hand. I rotate the upper teeth down to the lower position every now and again because the are used for cutting less. Enjoy! Steve

Congratulations! Definitely a learning curve, but if you tighten the side sway links, avoid large bites, work from far right to left, and learn to hear the sound it makes when you are in the sweet spot, you'll cut the time to do a stump that size down to a half hour or less including a stop to drag (or blow) the dirt off the remaining portion once you hit dirt. Visibility is an issue, and I look under my left shoulder (at the best cutting area 6-9 o'clock) to determine where I am relative to the stump, rather than over my right shoulder. Steering left and right as I move back and forth to move across the stump. I've taken out well over a hundred stumps large and small with it (finally quit counting...). Some definitely grind better than others. And I did get a backup camera too for when I am specifically grinding stumps as my project. For just clearing out troublesome small stumps when using my grapple to remove brush, The camera isnt' always mounted. But, practice, practice, practice.......... and try to avoid stones lol.

I have found that slip clutch to be bounds ahead of a sheer pin. I know it's a pain to deal with, but not having to replace sheer pins all the time, great time saver. I love my WG24 and have used it quite a bit. Even make a little side money with it. Enjoy!

Nice video. I'm looking at this SG myself. First video I see that follows the complete setup instruction. I saw one tractor operator who installed a camera somewhere within the 3ph so he could get a better view of the blade's location. He mounted the display to his hood using magnet. It worked pretty well. Based on the other videos I saw you were hitting the center of the blade too often which was causing it to jump. Like you said though, it's a learning experience. Thanks for sharing.

It was a good unboxing and first use video. In my opinion and situation on 10 acres it was much more economical to rent a professional stump grinder ($275 per day) and do the 25 stumps I had to do. I see the tractor as being limited in sight as you explained and tedious to move the back and forth versus a self propelled rental unit. Now my chipper, best investment besides the tractor I made! I like to see non sponsored videos and you are paid to say something nice about equipment!

I've got the same one and been happy with it. yeah, my first stump took me 25 minutes. Now I'm down to a 5 for a similar stump. Watch out for letting the blade tilt back too far if you feed too fast. That reduces the engaged coupling length and I once got it so short it destroyed the female end. Take your time, be patient and it will get the job done. Do need to replace the teeth occasionally - got mine from Gabdon Industries and they seem fine. Also you seemed to engage the slip clutch alot so maybe check it's not too loose.

Thank you. I'm hoping to slip clutch works better after some use, like new brake pads. I'll definitly check the adjustment though. Seems like it slipped too much.

We love our WG24, also. The dealer explained that our 21 hp kubota didn’t have the necessary ooomph, to spin that big cutter, so oh well…. We just had to go supersize it, and buy a bigger tractor. 😁 Just go slow with yours, and your wheel won’t completely stop spinning, so often. As that other tractor-guy up North - says, “Cheers” Ted in NJ.

I was setting my WG24 up today. The clutch slipped as it should. I then tightened to the called for specs on the clutch springs (1.26”). When I later was torquing the cutter teeth, the clutch slipped with the pressure from my torque wrench on the tooth bolt. I would think it should take more force than that to make it slip.
@MyClutteredGarage

I’d let it break in then check again. I think they wear in like a new set of brake pads.

Hi Ed. Great video and nice information on adjusting the slip clutch. I am waiting for another Locking Pin Kit for the PTO from Woodland Mills to connect the PTO to the WG24. After only using the machine for less than two hours, the PTO shaft came off from the grinder and the locking pin was gone. Woodland Mills said the nut must have vibrated loose but I had it on tight. I asked what the torque should be and they did not have one specified. I'm wondering if the locking pin could break from too much torque, so the next pin will have a second nut attached and blue loctite. I have not seen where anyone else had this issue of the pin missing. I'm looking forward to getting the WG24 up and running again. Thanks for the video.

So painful to watch. There's nothing wrong with that grinder. This was all operator error. Once you learn where to start, how fast to move, and how deep you should go, you'll love this thing. Oh, buy an RV camera, set it on the back of the housing pointing down and you will see it all.
