Some days I feel there is nothing to comfort me but, then I read posts like yours and from so many others who offer to me and my family loving support. I spoke with David hours before he was to be home,” I will be home about 9:30.” He died on highway 400, (video of him filling his gas tank with gasoline, he had very hot coffee untouched and food he purchased for the drive home ...) our family had Christmas plans, and as a Christmas gift all my children asked to go sky diving on New Year’s Day...sigh... only three of my four children went sky diving and a video of my daughter as she jumped,” this is for you David..” sigh... ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Dear Zankel, thank you for your message to me. The metal family have been most understanding, and acknowledge our pain, as we live without our David. I often comment, I feel people find David at a time that is best for them, at that time of their life. As David said,” mom there are lots of messages in my music for those needing to hear them. It's sad that music geniuses must die early. David was certainly an unique person with his songs. Whole band is amazing. Several years have passed already, and none of the songs have become boring. There's never too much of Woods of Ypres.

Dearest obsolete, none of us truly know if there is another dimension after this life we know, but, I have had too many signs and messages from David that prove his energy is near those who thinks bout him, say his name, play his music snd are open to hearing thought communication from him. Many share with me sone experience they have had since Davids untimely death. This is not wishful thinking , or coincidences...in his song sequence of dreams he tells us “ I am with you here..” May David always be in your thoughts, and live in your loving heart and soul! ❤️( your words comfort me as I daily live with loss, “loving the living, “ and everyday missing and loving our David more today than I did yesterday. In Phoenix, our local rock station plays Into the Pit once a week. I usually don't listen because I'm not much of a fan of death metal (please forgive me for using wrong terminology, I'm completely new to this...doom metal or black metal or whatever it is) and it's sub-genres. But tonight I was on my way home and Lightning & Snow came on. I had to pull over to give it the proper listen it deserved. Since I got home, I've been listening to this incredible collection of songs and reading up on the band. Thank you for opening my mind to something new and helping to introduce me to the genius of David Gold.

Dearest, I have shivers on my arms as I read your words. You already are shining light on others, I needed your light today. As David sings ,I and many others sail on a “ sea of immeasurable loss,” some days the water is smooth, and the sky is bright, other days the sea so rough,one fears it is hopeless to even image better days, yet a new day comes. ☀️. Woods 5 is maybe the best album ever made but this song is just from another planet. I would kill to hear the 3 unreleased songs from this session. Hopefully it will happen sometimes. RIP David, You will be forever missed.

Miss gold, I've been writing a few short stories, and I would like to dedicate part of my work to David, he is a true inspiration to me, if i ever get published I'd like to send a copy to you, but i guess I'll have to translate everything to English, greetings from Mexico, excuse my English and thanks for reading.

Amazing how David manages to reflect my life with some verses of his songs... I've been listening to Woods since 2011, and in all difficult moments David was with me, and I want to thank everyone who goes through the same, we are not alone, ever, because we have David with us. Forever.

Your son was a brilliant artist Mrs. Gold, I just want to say he left a permanent imprint on my life with his music and It makes me sad I never got to see Woods play live ever, I would have loved to have met him and told him how much his songs have reached deep in my heart. David will always be a huge influence for me and I am sorry for your loss, but you should take comfort knowing how many lives he touched with his truly beautiful and inspirational art. I just found Woods of Ypres a a couple days ago on a saddest songs of metal top 10 and what song was playing was kiss my ashes goodbye and then I just went deeper into what other albums they've done and I've loved everything I've listened to since rip

It's such a crime that this, the first ep and first 2 albums have not been rereleased. If I had the money to do it I certainly would with all funds going to a cause that David believed in but alas until fortune smiles upon me this will not happen yet

David was Woods' sole member. The rest were either session or live musicians, but that began to change with Woods IV and Woods V. Woods V was completed and set to release when David died. It was released about three months later, and is an incredibly accessible yet bittersweet album. You'll see what I mean.

Great song. I've had this youtube page open for awhile to listen to. Decided today to finally use the digital download card from the vinyl and gain some browser real estate back. Do everybody a favor if you like this then support the band. Need more brutal north.
