Turning an end-grain bowl from a piece of sycamore..I finished it with sanding sealer, Yorkshire Grit and a microcrystaline wax ..

I'm subbed to a few wood turning channels and a bunch of them have gotten quite 'samey' with what they're making. Not Mr Phillip tho. Always a treat to see what he can conjure up !!

I LOVE IT! I like how the grain pattern in the middle of the bowl looks like a mountain landscape with a statue of some sort sitting on the top of mountain.

Andy that bowl is just stunning, you can clearly see that is from a sycamore with the colour variations and that shape is perfect, it would be a fantastic fruit bowl, which would be noticed and commented on, very elegant

I'd like to see you use that high angle camera view at 3:15 in more of your videos. It gave me a whole new perspective on the work. (Well done, of course.)

Hi Andy. I have just begun watching woodturning and I have alot of respect for the beautiful work you do...the transformation you give a simple piece of work is amazing. My question is...when turning a odd shaped piece...how do you keep your hands from being jerked Soo hard??

thanks ..most of the wood I use is from naturally fallen trees from around where I live or pieces i've saved from being burnt .. On this I used a sanding sealer/thinners mix then Yorkshire grit abrasive paste then a microcrystaline wax ..cheers

Very nice Andy! I noticed at 10:03 that you had the frame speed just right! I think Frank Howarth was trying to see if he could get one of his projects to "stand still" like that. Nice work! Beautiful bowl.

Andy this is bar none the best looking bowl I have EVER seen. I wish it was still on your Etsy. Normally I favor live edge and Burl bowls but this cow hide pattern blows everything else out of the water. I could go on about this bowl for forever. I hope to find a piece of wood like that one day.

Every time you begin to peel back the layers you must be surprised by what you find. Each piece of wood tells a unique and beautiful story. It must be exciting to be the one to find out what that story is. Well done

I'm glad you left the slight blemishes on the bowl. Epoxy would have detracted from the incredible grain. Beautiful!
