When I'm in the woods in upstate Pennsylvania for trout fishing or hunting I see unusual formations on some trees and think, 'Andy Phillip could make something out of that.'
@TralfazConstruction
@TralfazConstruction 4 года назад
@White Marlin It certainly does extend the experience. I was recently enroute to the New Jersey shore to fish for striped bass and I pass through the pine barrens which are concentrated toward the shore. I caught sight of a few black walnut trees and one had a nice burl that would have turned well on Andy's lathe. I saw a couple of eagles too further down the road and they accelerated at my approach then pulled straight up, showing me those squared-off tails. I took that as a good sign. The bass came in right before sunset and the action was consistent right through the end of civil twilight.

Some of the nicest round things I've made have come from really unpromising pieces of wood, and this is a perfect example of what can lie under the surface of what, otherwise, might be used as firewood. Lovely job, Andy. I always enjoy your videos and hope you get fun from making them.

That is my favorite piece of art that you've created (and I've watched a lot of your videos). The grain of wood is perfect for that shape, and it's that balance which makes its stunning. It may seem to be a basic piece, but most people have no idea just how difficult what you do is. Along with the other masters, you always make it look so easy. Beautiful!

Wow, that's a really beautiful grain, with the swirl and hints of red. Good choice of a simple finish. Excellent work, as always... ...Andy, can you do me a favour? Can you briefly hold a soda can in your next video? I always see your hands and I think, 'Jesus, those look massive.... Or is he making something quite small?' So it would be cool to see them against a familiar scale object. Please confirm or deny that you do indeed have giant hands!!! Anyway, keep up the great work, even if you just have regular sized hands. Always a pleasure to watch.

I'm always amazed when Andy turns the inside of a piece blind. Does he do it by feel? Sound? Psychic sense? Impressive at any rate. The proportions of this piece are splendid. Does he use a topographic formula to achieve the curves? All questions are rhetorical by the way.
